It's bollocks. Arsenal's "reputation" and "values"... they've had plenty of embarrassing antics from their players over the years Wenger's been there, for a start.
He'll control him fine. I reckon people will be amazed.
I know this is going to sound ridiculous, but the city of Liverpool is one of the main factors here. Suarez racially abused Evra and the whole city comes out in support of him. T-Shirts. Forums. Flags. Endless stuff. It's quite unbelievable.
That just wouldn't happen at Arsenal. If he racially abused someone, it would not be tolerated within the club or out of it.
Bollocks. You'd back him to the hilt...I suspect deep down Wenger doesn't care because he'd have looked elsewhere. Shame on your club.
He'll back him, but not in the case of racial abuse. He just wouldn't.
He's already backed him by trying to buy him.
Arsenal have had some nasty characters.
I know people think I'm being a bit naive here, but we have a great record on discrimination. Look at our crowd, for one. Look at how Arsenal were represented at Pride this year.
If Suarez kicks off at Arsenal with some more appalling behaviour, he'll be properly disciplined, which wasn't the case at Liverpool. Whatever nastiness Suarez has in him was basically encouraged up there.
That's not backing him, that's forgiving him.
It's not Arsene, is it?
EDIT: I see you're not based in France, so it's unlikely to be Wenger.
All I'm saying is that when Suarez racially abuses someone, we will publically condemn it, not go to the nearest T-Shirt printing company. Not a controversial view.
I think that's probably true but on the last page you said "[Wenger] will control him fine" and then a few posts later cited Arsenal's representation at Pride.
Al's so desperate for Suarez. Feel sorry for you.
I think you're cutting my posts into pieces unfairly here.
I suspect Wenger will control him a lot better than he was at Liverpool. He must believe he can, as must the board. The Pride reference was down to the fact that it's clear that Arsenal want to appear inclusive. We're not going to sign someone we believe is going to re-offend time and time again. The club must feel as if the situation is recoverable.
EDIT - Nice use of square brackets though. Liked it.
In which case, it wouldn't be long before he's after a move (again). And clubs - as exemplified by Liverpool - have an annoying tendency to be blasé about racism when the offender is one of their star players.

To be fair, Al's a right wing Tory who thinks the world's become too PC or something.
I don't care how happy Suarez is as long as he plays football without feeling the need to impale someone.
The bloke is 26 years old. He's not a young kid starting out in the game. He'll be just as likely to do something as crazy as he was when he was a Liverpool or Ajax player. It's how he plays. Wenger will be just as helpless as his previous managers when it comes to changing him.
If he signs for Arsenal, be prepared to take the shit that comes along with him.

Don't worry about me, I'm used to fighting fires on the Caf.
Apparently that's utter bollocks now because he did racially abuse someone and his reward is a big transfer to Arsenal so it's being tolerated just fine.
Wanting to sign a player who once racially abused someone is not the same thing as tolerating racial abuse.
If a corner shop employ an ex-bank robber does that mean they condone theft?

Liverpool will regret turning down that £40m I think and Arsenal are in the driving seat now. Can't believe there isn't other teams in for him though.
I know I'm several pages late here but what legal action?
He does have a valid contract that he willingly signed and if he wants to buy himself out of it he can do that but apart from that? Unless it's about the infamous "clause" which might be interpreted as a release clause, or at least that's what he'd like I suppose.
