Remember the last time Liverpool received £50 million for a player.

Anyway, if i was Liverpool i'd take the £40 million. They'd be able to get a good CB/good striker with that, and it would be better for the team overall. They'd be rid of a player who has honestly made the club be considered in much lower regard, plus it might be better in footballing terms for the long term as being wholly reliant on Suarez means they'll never be top 4, a bit like Spurs and Bale.

Its too big a risk selling him to Arsenal. They are the only team Liverpool can catch to get in the CL in the short term. If Wenger could actually get him to behave the gap between Liverpool and Arsenal would be too much.

You're right that strategically it makes no sense for Liverpool to sell to Arsenal. I think that's what Liverpool's owner was getting at when he asked what Arsenal had been smoking.

I'd start becoming a little concerned about Arsenal if they signed Suarez, to be honest. Providing he performs as well as he has done for Liverpool he would be an amazing signing. Wouldn't be enough signing just him I don't think but they wouldn't need too much more than that to be a real threat.

True, but i think what it has been about for Liverpool now is long term as all the teams in the top 4 have cash to splash. Look at the players they are investing/interested in. Mostly under 25, if not all of them.

Who can Liverpool get who'd be good enough to replace Suarez' goals? What would be the lure of playing for Liverpool today? And if this is going to happen it would be in both teams' interest to have it done ASAP. Arsenal should look elsewhere rather soon if they want to avoid another hectic deadline day, no?

In recent years they haven't been great at selecting a good striker.

Suarez was a fluke that nobody fancied after his World Cup cheating session.

Liverpool rehabilitated him..... oh..... erm, no that's the job of Arsenal.

Well the last time, they got Andy Carroll so I hope history repeats itself for them

Liverpool don't manage to get the upper elite player but they still manage to lure in potential elite players at times. Their team right now is more about potential rather than instant quality which is a bit risky but if it pulls off for them then Rodgers will have done very good business. I think that they will still be able to bring in players of good enough quality to rise up the table. If Spurs lose Bale this year or within the next few years they will be closer to overtaking them or challenging. Like it or not Liverpool still have the pull and attraction more than Us (Everton) and probably Spurs too despite recent history.

Horrible player. Arsenal are mad to be in for him. At least Arsene can say he didn't see anything time after time though.

To be fair, Spurs/Bale were one point away from doing it.

One player can drag a team far. Cesc did it for us for a while.

Vato I thought Madrid are buying a striker this summer with Higuain on his way? Who's on your radar now Falcao and Cavani have gone?

Really? :o We might have picked average managers, but shit strikers? Ok a bit of a quick lesson as I've already guessed you're probably between 16-22 years old. Rush got old, we got Aldridge. Rush got old part two we saw Fowler. Robbie got injured up rose Owen. Mikey fcked off we bought Torres. Judas betrayed us we sneaked in Suarez. Luis is playing the cnut so we'll have ... See the pattern.

You can talk about the Keanes, Heskeys, Carroll's, but every team buys shit too. Klebs, Djembas, etc.

That must be the ITK that works for Goal.com. Not that I'm doubting he may eventually put a transfer in, but that's not the best of sources.

If we've missed out on Higuain for this khunt, only for him to end up at Real I will be ropable. I have been a Wenger defender but this will be inexcusable. He and Gazidis, or someone from up top needs to be held accountable for this window's (success or) failure.

If you want to make a 'statement' then you have to be prepared to pay a premium for the player(s) you want. It will be interesting to see how much Napoli actually end up paying for Higuain.
