The bid was formulated by Pere Guardiola apparently (Suarez' agent) who believed that any bid over £40m would mean Suarez would have to be sold.
But the Liverpool Echo are reporting that a bid of £50m + an official transfer request from Suarez is required before Liverpool even consider the offer. Hopefully this is true.

I dont see how signing suarez is going to turn arsenal into challengers, they had the best striker in the league 2 years ago and still didnt challenge for the title, not scoring enough goals hasn't cost them the title

Whatever happens it looks like we are stuck watching this cnut for another season as nobody wants him abroad. Much prefer him to stay with Liverpool as he would improve Arsenal a great deal, replace one of the two best strikers in the league with the other.
I'm happy he'll remain in England. He never did much of note against us, famous last words... From our perspective he's been widely entertaining, scoring some beautiful goals all while dragging Liverpool's name through the mud. Now, imagine we get to experience all this again next season except it's Arsenal's name he's pissing all over, with the added bonus he could score vs. Liverpool and the fans that so idolise him.

Arsenal are potential title challengers, most probably not next year but down the line maybe. Suarez would help them with that. Wenger has been there and won titles before. Liverpool are still absolutely miles away.

All too quickly forgotten, I'm afraid. Though it has to be said that part of the reason is that he's kept himself so wonderfully busy since the Evra affair. Now most people regard him as a cannibal, you know, not so much as a racist.
