Steven Gerrard

It's brilliant, his legs have gone, but he can't admit it to himself, hence he keeps playing. As a result, Brentan gets fecked over because he dare not drop him because that will start a full on revolt amongst the dipper support.

The amount of times West Ham found Downing in acres of space in between defence and midfield was amazing. Their defenders aren't great but no defender is going to look good when your deepest midfielder is as positionally clueless as Gerrard was yesterday. Certainly seemed like Lambert had it figured out that if you give him no time on the ball and restrict his ability to open up the game with his passing range then he's a complete liability, and Allardyce took it one step further and went for the kill.

He was done last season. He had the odd great game, but was mostly a problem for their defence. He can't do the defensive role he is being asked to do. he wouldnt have been able to do it at his peak either, he is an instinct footballer, all drive and passion, he doesnt have the reading of the game for this kind of position.

His replacement should have been first buy this summer, and he shouldnt have been in the England squad let alone captain. There is a reason they shipped so many goals last year and England looked so poor defensively. No midfield protection. Stevie Me is done. Whether he has the balls of Carragher or Gary Neville and take matters into his own hands remains to be seen. I personally dont think he will.

Said it before the season, time to repeat myself after having watched comedy gold from last evening. He's done, it's not even his legs that are dead, it's his mentality, his little scouse heart. It's not like he's lost so much speed compared to last season but last season, they were on the wings of winning, of delusion, of that inner insanity that told him 'You can do it la, you can win your medal' and now ? After that slip, everything inside him died. Deep in his mind he knows that it was his best chance to win the medal, to become the very great, being underdogs with siege mentality winning the league against oil-money scum and falling giant from Manchester. Now, there's nothing. His heart does not carry him anymore, I bet that every time he hears the infamous chant about him ( and he's hearing it week in week out ) he's cracking inside a little bit more. He's waking up in the night in the cold sweat screaming 'la la la la la YAWN' and he sees ghosts of Ba. Even when he's having an intercourse with his wife, he sees Ba's face. It's over Steven. Let it fly.

Nietzsche said it the best: 'Steve ist tot, la'.

Sounds like another English midfielder who's name rhymes with Cycle Garrick.

oh dear

He's been written off before, he's not done, a player of that quality is never done. He can no longer play more than one game a week though, and needs runners in and around him. Whether or not Rodgers is prepared to build a system to accommodate him though...

She's lying on the bed, begging for him, he goes to move towards the bed then slips and Ba goes charging in. Then he wakes up.

Every night.

I agree that Rodgers is too scared to drop Gerrard, but I think you'd find most Liverpool fans wouldn't object if he did so.

He's been written off before, he's not done, a player of that quality is never done. He's the hero Liverpool deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A la' knight.

Fixed that for you.

Anyone outside of the Liverpool faithful can see he's finished and has been for some time. Take away the penalty goals he's scored an I bet he's not scored much in the past 3 or 4 years. He's slow, not defensive enough an not much better going forward. There's a reason he's not been chased by big clubs since Chelsea tried about 10 years ago, because most of his reputation is build on SCOUSE loyalty by Liverpool fans. Rodgers hasn't got the balls to drop him and that will be one of their downfalls this season, cos let's be honest - Gerrard rates himself far too highly to stand down himself

His role in the team should have been changed by now in a similar way that we did with Giggs. He simply can't run all day anymore. He is still idolised by the Scouse faithful and will continue to play while they do, though there have been a few dissenting murmurs on RAWK recently.
He's in a difficult situation though. The last meaningful contribution he made was the slip against Chelsea. He doesn't want to finish now and be remembered for that, so he keeps trying for one last crack at the title.

Post of the year

Coordination & technique is starting to wilt as well. Fewer goals from long range, for instance, last couple of years.

Hes a bit of a problem in their starting xi. He needs to be phased out now for the sake of their team.

I wonder how much he still thinks about last season. Every defeat must bring it back to him.

He has looked a broken man since Crystanbul.

Not just, oh, he is a bit out of form and needs a rest, he really does look like a man who has seen his lifelong dream go from being within touching distance to being smashed to bits with a big fecking hammer right in front of his face.

Seen by millions on TV over and over to add to his trauma.

And then they signed Ba lol telly

According to Souness, Gerrard would get into the starting 11 of any premiership team.
