Again, @jason93 Liverpool will keep Stevie Me in their ranks as long as they can to try to get him a medal. If they're in any sort of race again, they'll wheel him on for minutes at a time to get him his games. Until Rodgers is strong enough to end his career, that is.

The penny has finally slipped over at RAWK and other Liverpool forums. He's looking more and more past it with every slipping day. Sorry

What a performance against us next Saturday though.

I swear I've read like 5 posts now where you have talked about how Everton will get hammered by Liverpool.

Moyes is gone so it's not cool to be negative anymore, Martinez is an optimist and he won't be going there to make it difficult for Liverpool.

It looks like last season will be the closest he'd get to that beloved premier league medal. I wonder if the slip gives him nightmares?

Blowing out of his arse at times today, he can't even move these days he's that arthritic. A strong manager would have replaced him in the summer.

Fergie held on to Scholes and Giggs, although they were still quality of course, but crucially he rationed their appearances over the course of a season. Brenton is shit scared of dropping Stevie even for a single match.

To be fair I remember watching a lot of Liverpool's games early last season and he looked dreadful but then managed to turn things around later int the season. I wouldn't count him out just yet. What I will do though, is enjoy the fact that they've lost 3 out of their 5 first games. That's just brilliant.

I think he gave the ball away for one of today's goals, sure he can do a job though, but can't play every game if they are in CL.

That's very true. He'll have to be managed better, but with Allen and Can out injured I suppose they don't have that many options left. Lucas has regressed as well which doesn't help them.

Let me cry it in.

They don't have many options at all, we'll soon see which competition Brenda prioritises.

We should not forget the world cup after a gruelling league campaign. Rodgers must have crazy medical staff if they think 3 games in 1 week is where his fitness is at.

At this rate he could have a mental breakdown.

Legs have completely gone and isn't good enough in tight spaces to do much when he's being man marked like he has been vs Villa/West Ham. Rodgers is unlikely to drop him and every single team should just continue to employ this tactic because Liverpool struggle badly to build out of the back when he's marked and the rest of the team is pressed. Especially when it's Balotelli whose expected to be running the channels and creating out balls instead of Suarez.

People might be underestimating how the World Cup might have affected Stevie G too, not just Liverpools choke-tastic league finish. He was the captain (proper captain too, not interim or anything) of the worst England World Cup performance ever, which he added to significantly with his assist for Suarez's second against England. It's bad enough to come so close to the league title before losing it, but having that immediately followed by the utter disaster in Brazil, which was his last contribution to the national cause? Sure he's not young anymore, but I have a feeling it's more a problem in his mind than in his legs.

He's past it.

Sure, he had some good moments last season, but he was not one of the main factors in Liverpool finishing second (well, he was, but that was at the point when it looked like they'd finish first). His confidence is gone and a dire World Cup has just made everything worse. I don't think he's that great at the base of the diamond... I said at the start of the season that he just can't play every game any more if they want anything decent from him. Champion's League is going to find him out and if Liverpool don't have a player in the squad that can step into the role he currently plays then they're in trouble.

Still, not counting any chickens. It will probably be a close run thing with them, us, and Arsenal for the remaining two UCL places (Chelsea and City will eventually sit pretty comfy for 1st and 2nd IMO).

He was more or less past it last season. Now that he doesn't have Suarez winning penos for him he's not much use.

I still think he has something to offer but he's clearly being over-used. 3 games is 7 days is ridiculous for him. Rodgers has made some strange calls lately, imo.

Was Can supposed to be his replacement/back-up? I'm not sure he's good enough. Their midfield is looking dodgy as feck.

Why did he play three games in a week? Ridiculous decision from Rodgers. I know the excuse will be that he is still adjusting and learning how/when to rotate players but use some common sense. Saw Downing following him around a bit, similar to Agbonlahor last match - just pressing him whenever he got the ball. Some big decisions for Rodgers in the next few months regarding Gerrard I think.
