Stephen Ireland - We could do with him

haven't seen his mother in years, thank God. did she pick up an English accent?

would love to see him at United. He's City through and through but that could be beat out of him.

"Out-of-favour Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland has admitted he may be forced to look for a new club after failing to force his way into new manager Robert Mancini's plans."

Just the usual shit and rumours i expect, but i definitely wouldnt say no to Ireland if we were able to get him.

Also didnt realise he is only 23, damn.

Manchester United Boss Considers Shock £14m Move for City Star Stephen Ireland

Rumours are circulating about the possibility that Sir Alex Ferguson may attempt to snap up Manchester City’s forgotten man Stephen Ireland this summer. The Man United boss has been linked with a move for the Irishman in the past and given the way Roberto Mancini’s side have managed in the last few weeks without the 23 year old is appears it may be very hard for the talented midfielder to find a way back into the Eastlands starting eleven.

Having had a tremendous season last term many expected Ireland to push on and further cement his place in the first team but a couple of niggling injuries and a lack of form has seen the Cork lad start just 16 Premier League matches this term.

Man United will of course find it hard to persuade their arch rivals to sell, especially as they are clearly no financial need to do so as the club appears to have a seemingly limitless wealth. If a move was made for Ireland though it would be very hard for the playmaker to not have his head turned by the interest shown by the Premier League champions.

The £14m rated midfielder will be keen to get first team football and may feel that in order to cement a regular starting spot he may need to leave Eastlands, however would he get a regular game at Old Trafford?

Bullshit. He has gone very average plus the fact that he is not the full shilling would make me think that it is a ridiculous story.

I like Ireland, silky player who can also track back. Does he have the temperament... thats the problem, but he deffo has the talent.

I despise the freaky looking gimp but he's a real talent.

Feck knows why he's been squeezed out at City this season, he was one of the best players in the league last season and he's exactly the type of player we could do with.

He's the type of player we could do with, but a better player of that type would be far better. He is not actually that good.

Correct me if I am wrong but cant he play as a CM, AM & even put in a decent shift as a winger/wide player?

If anyone can sort out the mentalists its Fergie!

SAF won't be there that long to sort him out. Psychologists have been trying for years in vain to work out the minds of such nutjobs. I don't see how SAF will succeed where so many have failed.

He's a good cm. He can do a job out wide but he has no pace. Honestly, I think we should be aiming higher. I don't think he could sustain a regular place in the team, to be honest.

He joined them when he was 15.

They've a decent youth system and bring a lot of Irish players over so it was probably as good a choice as anywhere.

He's tamed Cantona, only one who could make an intelligent being out of Keano.. kept Wayne on a leash... he's even wanted to manage Gazza because he believed he was the one man who could cure him of his ways.

Fergie>psychologists.

He's a cheaper option than others... Glazers like this.

fair enough

How many CM should we really have?

Depends on the formation. If we go with 3 man central midfield in a 451 formation, I would say 8 midfielders, maybe more depending on the age and experience.

First team of (for example)

Fletcher-Ireland-Hargreaves

back up by....

Rodwell-Anderson-Carrick

With Scholes and Giggs also part of the squad backing it up, and then young players like Matt James offering further support.

I always thought his best games ( both for Ireland and City ) were when he played in a 5 accross midfield as the most attacking of the 3 central midfielders. I think thats a position that we could improve to be honest. City seemed to have moved away from the 4-5-1 going with more attacking players up front and on the wings in a 4-4-2 and are playing with more defensive minded CMs leaving no room for Ireland.

Yes he's a complete and utter cnut but he's a good player and he dedicated, I was watching something recently that showed him doing extra physical training during the summer to improve his strenght for the season. Id have him at United if the price wasnt mental. Would City even sell to united??

Name Change> Thanks.

I suspect S.A.F. uses red wine to tame the wild streak in many out-of-control situation.

he would be great in our 451 system

Doubt city would sell to us, and would he even want to come to us having come through the city youth system?

Not bad, but for Hargreaves I lost every hopefulness

Sign him. He is the most technically gifted central midfielder to have come from the UK and Ireland in the last three years. Didn't he have prior links with United though? Please do sign him.

Why him if may so ask? What's special about him that we don't already have at the club?

I see Rubber is agreeing left right and centre as usual.

you ask why, i ask why not - thats the difference. positivity.

Nah, just a name to be honest, that would be recognised as a DM (and one we could possible get)

I understand but there has to be a cause for such positivity and that's what I am after for I personally haven't seen anything special in him to suggest that he would add value to our squad.

If he is Keano type of nut then he would be a god sent. We need someone with character in midfield.
