Stephen Ireland - We could do with him

I've never even considered him as an option - he's a complete loony but also a very talented player, but surely he would never come to us anyway?

Doubt City would sell to us.

When Ireland had a run in the team (2008/2009), he was superb. He's better than Milner.

Still, I'd rather get the cheque book out for Hamsik.

Watching him since hes 15/16. In terms of creativity, final pass and overall ability hes potentially a top players. As a person hes a complex character. On one hand hes a raving looney but as someone else mentioned hes known as a workaholic in training, has no international commitments

I think he'd add an awful lot to our attacking play and ball retention. Still not sure though

Why would he move down a few pegs in the ladder which a move from City to Liverpool most certainly would be for next season?

To play.

Not sure about Liverpool but he could definitely end up at Villa/Everton. Especially if Milner or Arteta go the other way.

The Lescott transfer still cracks me up. V well played by Everton and David Moyes.

Yea. Dunne was City's player of the season on a good few occasions over the last few years. He was viewed as one of their best, if not their best player.

How Hughes paid 20m+ for that misfit Lescott and got rid of Dunne for around 5m is beyond me.

Funny you should mention that, as guess what Maradonna loving Italian city Mancini was in yesterday.

Napoli by any chance?

If Hamsik has any ambition and is not just a money grabbing cnut then he'll turn them down.

Not getting my hopes up though.

Correct!. By the sounds of things he wants to stay in Napoli. His young family is settled there, his sister goes out with another player as well I think. The only way I see him being moved is if De Laurentis can't resist a mega bid.

Don't City already have 89 midfielders on their books? They're beginning to do to us (and other teams) what Chelsea did at the start of the Abramovich era and just buy any target of ours or the other top clubs, with no regard for where they will fit into the team. Twats.

Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland has officially asked to leave the club.
Ireland, player of the year at Eastlands in 2008/09, has grown frustrated at a lack of opportunities under coach Roberto Mancini and has asked City to invite offers from elsewhere.
City manager Mancini does not particularly want to lose Ireland but is aware the former Republic of Ireland international has become unsettled and has given the go-ahead for the 23-year-old to move on.
With City trying to persuade Aston Villa to sell England midfielder James Milner and also showing interest in Everton's Mikel Arteta, the club could certainly afford to be without Ireland next season.
However, there is some sadness at Eastlands that a player who enjoyed such a good season during Mark Hughes's first year as City manager has become so unhappy.

Don't worry, Mancini has just stated they won't be going for Hamsik.

I can see him being part of a swap deal for Milner, I'd like him here though.

SAF would be the perfect manager to nurture his talent and keep him mental attitude in order

Bit mental, good passer. He has two qualities of Paul Scholes but still a few more lacking. Perhaps SAF could mold him into a top class player. Keane wasn't the fiinished article until around age 25. It took Scholes a few years to reach top class.

Mirror are saying were in for him again.

Wherever he goes he will make City regret it. Just like Richard Dunne, only more so because he's young.

I don't think he has a future at City under Mancini.

I think he's better than Gibson and that makes him United Quality. City won't sell him to us though.

Can't see any truth in this. I hope there is though.

I hate him. He's disgusting. Makes me sick to just look at him. Don't want him at United. He's not a bad player at all, but I want him to stay at Man City.

He could do a job coming off the bench but how long would it be until he throws a tantrum? Would City sell to us? No.....And is he anywhere near as good as the semi realistic players we are hoping to get Ozil, Muller,etc?....No

I'd happily sign him. He can be moulded into a top player. I see him joining Pool or the Gunners though.

Agreed. I'd sign him too as long as the price is right, I rate him as a player, overlooked in the City side because he isn't a "big name".

23 years old and could form a solid partnership with Fletcher. Isn't injury prone and scores goals. Could be a very useful signing actually.
