Stephen Ireland - We could do with him

I thought he had a hair transplant, I was going to mention this sooner but I figured id hold out... No longer.

City could really regret letting him go in the future if there's any truth to this. He's about as good as Lampard was at that age iirc. Not as consistent a goalscorer, although he's shown that facet to his game, but a much better passer than the young Fwank.

I doubt it'll happen, but I'd be happy to see us sign him. Of course as far as potential Scholes replacements go, he'd be behind a Hamsik or a Gourcuff in most people's wish lists, never mind a Fabregas or Iniesta, but he's got the potential to be superb. He's mad as a box of frogs, but he's got a great work ethic and desire to improve, as well as a good skill set.

He'd be fantastic for us as the most advanced played in a midfield three. Far better in that role than anyone already in our squad and still young enough to get better and better.

Don't think we play enough games in that formation to justify signing him though. Nor any other purely attacking midfielder for that matter.

I hope the dippers don't sign him, that's for sure.

i'd be for signing him. the lad works his bollocks off, still young, very talented, has a decent hard streak. sure he's a bit of a tit with his shite tat's and ghey pink rims, but in a midfield three he'd slot in well IMO with carrick and fletch. a big step above anderson unfortunately right now. would not want to see him go to the dirties.

can't stand him as a person, but as a footballer I think he would be a great signing for United. Like Pogue said, he would be great as the attacking midfielder in the team. However, i disgree that we don't play that formation enough - we play it in every big domestic and european game.

Irelands a 'guilty' pleasure. He could be a great player for United and his waywardness would be driven out of him by Sir Alex and the mentality of the lads we got.

That said he would block the progress of someone. Cleverly has shown good quality in the championship and even though he's potential we have to make sure we get it right

Irelands a very good player - would be even better at a better club with better players

If we were going to start playing 451/433 regularly, he'd be an option. But he doesn't have either the positional awareness or defensive abilities to play as part of a two in midfield. He's better drifting off a main striker, and moving into positions between the other team's midfield and defence.

Also he's a baldy little twat who I'd hate to ever see wearing the United jersey.

it's true he's nuts and was silly over his grandma but he's not out there chucking bins at peoples heads or anything. Maybe weird, I don't think he's beyond help....though his taste is horrible. He could be the dressing room clown

He'd be a top signing for us, always liked him as a player. Fletcher-Carrick-Ireland

FLAIR You know it makes sense.

He'll never sign for us. He's a scumbag traveler. Fergie might watch him, and he'll be good enough, then he'll meet with him and discover he's a big pikey and we'll tell him to feck off.

The end.

Can be a very good player when used properly but don't think he's the kind of character we want at the club.

Also has wings.

why would city sell to us though...

its not as if we can offer them so much money that they cant afford to turn it down...

Good player, but not entirely sure about his attitude - nor where he would fit into our midfield.

:lol:that's what all my mates call him - and his mum who frequents the same hostelry and gym as me - he also gets unside down head shouted ar him

Hmmm this is diffucult. The man is grade A twat who I fecking hate but thats for non footballing reasons.

On the other hand Ive watched him since he broke into City's academy. Always the best of his generation for city, has been since he's 16. I think he may be the first Irish player since Brady to really succeed abroad.

City have done their best to ruin him this season. Hes a very gifted footballer and its impossible to tell at this stage how far he'll go.

I'd take him in a second. Very good player, yes he's a little prick, but Fergie woud sort him out.

Balotelli is a cnut aswell, but I doubt many of you would say no to him.

You don't sort a pikey out without using a shotgun, tbh.

I'm a big fan of Ireland, the mobile 'flair' player we could do with in that midfield trio alongside Carrick and Fletch.

I think that's quite harsh - he made more tackles in the league than any other midfielder in the top half besides only Mascherano iirc, and his succession rate was better than Carrick's and Fletcher's as well.

I wouldn't play him in a midfield two for us, but I think it's harsh to say he couldn't.

I really doubt we'd get him but he's class. He's better off in the hole though or 3 man midfield but can do a job on the wing. Not sure if I'd want him in a 2 man midfield though.

If it were purely footballing reasons i would take him in a heartbeat. IMO has the ability to progress into a top top midfielder.

Though it seems City have fecked up his progress.
