I actually just woke up and posted it at the same time as (but right after) you so deleted it.

This system needs a lot of tweaking tbh. You left your pick with me "for the next 6-7 hours", the pick materialised almost 12 hours and about 1h30m late.

It can't be that leaving your pick serves as max 30mins insurance, yet if you do pick yourself before the 30mins you may argue it should be shorter.

Christ, that sounds like one of my puzzles, but you know what I mean I hope.

Yeah, that's why I asked.
 
Can't believe no one had picked Massaro earlier. Had Cantona-esque spell at the end of 1993/94 season for Milan.

nah I think we had that in the past. If you are online you can post it yourself and clock it compared to the last pick/tag.

If you aren't then we have the default 30 mins rule.

But then leaving your pick acts as a 30mins insurance of sorts even if you end up taking 90. It's a bit like how when you overcharge clients complain but if you don't you aren't told.

But then, if it incentivises leaving picks I guess that's good for all.

What's important is being clear.

TBH, I think the problem with him and others at Milan around that time is the same: " not van Basten" is how I felt about any of them at the time.

Sort of like Carrick "not being Keane".

It is a difficult one, the whole point is to speed up the draft and to encourage people to leave picks when not online. Can not punish the person who left their pick when the person who has it does not post it.

Well no actually. If you are around you can post your pick before someone else posts it and you'll clock accordingly. If you aren't you can't end up taking 90 as you'll already be on 30 since you've sent in your pick. It's not bad as you said it incentivizes to sent in your pick which is why we tried it in Physio's draft.

Everyone else makes 14 separate picks which all clock up time. You and Raees make 7 so need to clock double the time each time.

And no, it has nothing to do with the 8 hour thing because the 8 hour limit is about everyone's responsibility to pick within an agreeable timeframe, while this is about ranking for a tie-break rule.

Ok, whatever, their double picks get doubled, that's all.

It's already relatively unfair on those in the middle to have to keep tabs more frequently as opposed to being at the end of the snake where you know it's coming back very soon.

Benefits far outstrip these caveats though.

By far my favorite tie breaker rule. The pace has been great.

Great for the snake system, yeah. Default should be this for snake and keepers for other types. I think there's merit in the keepers in auction/sheep so that the better keepers are a bit more attractive and not just get out of jail cards whenever you are stuck and facing a sheep.

Not really. The penalty of not picking within 8 hrs is also double for both ends than anyone in middle. If this rule is in place, I'd expect 16hrs time frame to avoid suffering a double penalty in case I get delayed it was sleeping during my pick times.

For all intents and purposes,the ends pick 2 players in 1 pick. You just can't change a rule for tie breakers.

Technically you do have 16hrs for your 2 picks.

That Guivarch-esque display in the 1994 final is probably seared in folks' brains. Love the Grun pick though, he could have gone earlier IMO.

Or check up the thread when his turn is about to come.

If he picks within 5 mins for example - making it 10 is a much better scenario than to pick in the middle.
