Sergio Aguero

aguero isn't sanchez. one has no bearing on the other.

also, is it that berba wouldn't go to athletico or athletico wouldn't take berba?

It does in the sense that if we bought him you'd essentially be saying get used to the bench to one of our 4 forwards that started tonight, most likely Hernandez, the same as with Sanchez, unless you're saying Aguero is that much better than Sanchez.

Berba wouldn't go there, if he leaves he will go to a team with CL football.

We play a squad game, Tevez couldn't accept that and fecked off. Hernandez, Berbatov and Owen understand. If we added a better player into our ranks, our other players will have to understand.

By the way, not saying we should buy a striker, just that our players are use to a squad game, why should they forget that if someone new comes in?

doesn't sound like he understood if certain reports are true.

Berbatov understands this season, at least as far as we know, but Hernandez has yet to experience being the guy who loses his place. Owen of course is different as he never expected to get a shot a big club again.

If that's true then fine, but then we'll replace him with someone who understands. Fergie is brilliant at managing the squad.

Hernandez has already been on the bench at the start of the season. From the interviews he's gave, we know he's grateful to be here and understands if he sits on the bench e.g. even if he did in the final.

He certainly is but if Aguero came in that would present a new challenge. Two young strikers vying for the same role, that's harder to manage with rotation than when you have guys like Sheringham and Owen who are older and willing to be bench players the majority of the time.

I agree in principal with your points on Hernandez and the type of person he seems to be, but he came in and started on the bench with just the hope of getting some minutes. It will be different to go from being Rooney's regular big game strike partner to being on the bench I think.

If our players can't take a challenge, they shouldn't be playing for us. Look at Rooney's attitude, got benched one game a couple years ago, came on as a sub and scored a peach against Bolton (?).

I know it wouldn't be ideal for him, but he's young and has a great attitude. He would fight for a place, if he can't get the place then why should we complain if someone else is putting in world class performances to stop him?

I agree actually, but it seems a lot on here are always worried about unsettling any of our current players.

We shouldn't I guess, but there is also much to be figured in, such as whether Fergie wants to destabilize that Rooney/Hernandez partnership with an addition, as opposed to bringing in an older striker who would be content with a bench role.

I know what you mean, I wouldn't want to break the partnership up either but competition is also healthy rather than a bad thing. What if we never bought Hernandez because Fergie wanted a Berbatov/Rooney partnership to gel? Competition is great and even if Hernandez didn't break into the side, Fergie knows he would've been content as a youngster. Good management again.

This is why Fergie is Fergie and I'm typing theories on a computer. Competition has always been a mainstay of United, with a player ready to step in if the chance arose. In the case of Rooney and Berba I think he gave it two seasons and it never truly took, and then Hernandez surprised everyone this season, so it would be more a case of posing a threat to a pairing that seem well suited, as opposed to an option to one that was only working in patches.

Pedro is class. Vastly underrated. I don't think Aguero would perform on the left/right like he can.

Undoubtedly he performs well for Barca and that speaks volumes in of itself. But so could I. Aguero is much more talented, as is say Sanchez.

Seriously, we should be more worried of Barca buying Sanchez to play where Pedro plays.

Teams may never see the ball again, only when picking it out of the net.

I think we're dreaming here.

However, Barca have raised the bar ridiculously high. Fergie will need a couple of real superstars to get his hands on big ears again you feel.

4-3-3 with Rooney, Hernandez and Aguero. Muppet dream indead. We'd only need to buy 1 CM then!

It's a spastic dream, there's no way they'd work in a 3 without wasting 2 of them.

Obviously we wont be buying Aguero so it's irrelevant, plus we will never play without wingers, but I think that trio could work up front with Rooney as a false 9 feeding the runs from Aguero and Hernandez who would play just ahead and slightly wide of him.

He will go for 30-35 mil pounds imo.

He wants to leave Atletico have no choice.

Just like Rooney wanted to leave? Or Ronaldo? Or Ruud?
Of course, he signed a contract earlier this year, and if a club doesn't pay the buy out clause then they wont get him.

yeah, like playing ronnie, tevez, and wazza wasted players.

ffs, that was our best attack since law, best, charlton.

substitute tevez for aguero. wazza is still here. hernandez to gain technical flexibility to play in a front 3 that is interchangeable and its fecking brilliant.

Where would that leave Nani and Valencia?

Atletico Madrid general manager Miguel Angel Gil Marin has said star striker Sergio Aguero will not be heading for Real Madrid.

Argentina international Aguero, 22, has openly declared his desire to leave Atletico and hinted his destination could be Spanish capital neighbours Real.

But Atletico are standing firm and insist the player's buy-out clause of €45million (£39m) was the asking place for everyone - apart from Real Madrid.

"He (Aguero) is not going to go to Real Madrid," Gil Marin said in El Larguero.

"I called (Real president) Florentino (Perez) to ask him if we could maintain this commitment to not being hostile and he agreed.

"Either a club, that is not Real Madrid, comes in and puts €45m on the table or he stays at Atletico Madrid. We don't want to negotiate with anyone."

English trio Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool have all been linked with Aguero, but so far Juventus are the only side to officially register their interest.

"Atletico Madrid don't have any offers, only a fax from Juventus saying they want to negotiate," Gil Marin said.

"It is a letter saying they are keen to negotiate, but Atletico don't want to negotiate."

Atletico want an end to the saga within the next fortnight and have set a 15th June deadline to conclude any deal.

"We want a decision before 15th June because it is a decision that has huge implications on our sporting plan," Gil Marin added.

Liverpool? Pfffffffttttt.

Still think Real will sign him.

I think Barca will sign Aguero. Wonder if that means David Villa would become available then?
