Sergio Aguero

Mourinho supposedly wants a traditional #9, something Aguero isn't.

He's a player I love watching when on form.

He has the potential to be a great and it can only be fulfilled at a top club.

I agree, he's stagnated at Athletico, he should have moved two seasons ago, the ridiculous £55M buyout clause ruined things.

For a player who hasn't even turned 23 yet i strongly disagree that he should have moved. He's just managed to achieve his highest goalscoring season yet since moving to Spain so to say he's "stagnated" would be a bit off the mark. Sure, he could thrive in a better side but he still has the majority of his professional career ahead of him.

I'm about to turn 23 and I have everything before me. Suffice it to say that this is not an economic issue but strictly a sporting one. So I want to clearly express my appreciation to the club for the efforts they have made for giving me a salary that equates with the largest clubs in the world.

Hmm.

According to the Spanish press there isn't an anti-Real Madrid clause in his contract, just a gentleman's agreement between the clubs that Madrid won't launch a hostile bid and use the release clauses of Atletico players against Atletico's wishes - and in Aguero's case it would be.

Meanwhile one radio station has suggested he signs for Madrid on Saturday as a CL day spoiler - but that sounds so blatant a stunt that it seems like a wasted PR opportunity to me, I'd have thought Perez would save it. And another gang say that Barcelona are sniffing around too.

Personally I think they don't know
It's the Balague school of journalism - throw enough stories, one will be right.

Kun Aguero is an absolute immense player. Love to see him at United.

I think they will line up with a trio of Aguero, Sanchez and Silva up front

Which would frankly be a brilliant attack, and quite frightening.

Hopefully Barca will go after him, making sure he doesn't go to a Premier League club. He's class.

About time he's asked for a move, I hope Pato does the same and leaves Serie A.. two great talents who've been wasted in lesser teams, hopefully he still has it in him to go to the next level.

Didn't Fergie once say that when a good player comes available you go for him? Will he go for Aguero?

I just can't see it. It's all well and good saying how brilliant Aguero and Sanchez are and how we should go get them, but the fact remains, they're just not what we need here in comparison to other areas of our squad.

I'd love one of them, preferably Sanchez, but it won't happen.

Can't see it happening, he is a player who'll cost big wages, big money.. not our sort of signing and he's not a player we particularly need. There's cheaper and more necessary options out there for us... as much as I do like Aguero as a player.

Probably the only realistic option I would release Berbatov for.

Rooney, Auguero, Hernandez, Owen, Welbeck would be an incredible set of strikers to take into next season.

Surely keep Berbatov and get rid of Owen.

Rooney, Berbatov, Hernandez, Aguero - with Welbeck in the carling cup.

If we were to end up with those first four (which I don't for a minute think we will) we'd be silly to have Welbeck in the squad just to play him in CC games. His development would be stunted big time, we'd be best sending him on another season long lone to a club where he'll get regular football, maybe Bolton or Wigan or even back to Sunderland.

Maybe in an ideal world as he would give another option but you've got to think of wages and keeping that four happy.

Owen is more of an impact player than Berbatov which is more useful as a backup aswell.

Does anyone think Aguero's better than Tevez currently? Better touch, better dribbling, better finishing, better movement. I don't know what his consistency's been like because I've not seen much La Liga and that could be what tips it in Tevez's favour but I wouldn't be surprised to see him be an improvement straight away, and if not then certainly in the future. He's obviously more suited to being that high up the pitch too.

I prefer Aguero to Tevez, I hope he doesn't come to this league as he will make a major impact.

More confident, movement and positioning is superior to Tevez. Had a strong season, a tally I think that matches his overall best in 07/08, 27 goals (?). Doesn't always have the support that is available to someone like Tevez and engineers more opportunities on his own. If you were to put him in Tevez position now, he would benefit more, especially with the directness of City at times, and to have a player like Silva around him would really enhance his game.

He's 4 years young then him and dying for a better team to take him to the next level. I think Aguero will go on to be a special talent, if he isn't already, or at least show it on a greater stage.

Yep, I agree with those sentiments about not wanting Aguero to come to the Premiership - unless of course it was to us. I could see him making an instant impact and becoming a very good Premiership player - he has scored over 100 goals for Atletico which is mightily impressive considering he came into one of the top leagues in Europe at a young age and made an instant impact.

He's also been crying out for a bigger platform, and he will finally get it this year.

He has all the qualities of an excellent player, and a very good attitude. Always surprised me how professional he was, even as a teenager he had the right mentality approaching Athletico, and in regards to his future, already recognizing the talent he possessed, but also understanding that to reach the stage, he first had to find his feet.

Ballague saying Real Madrid have said they do not want Aguero but says they have an agreement with Aguero that he will sign with them if they meet his release clause. He also said Juve might be willing to meet his release clause.

fecking Ballague. If he told me I was a man I'd have to double check I didn't have a vagina.
