The Spanish press says he's asked for a transfer and the meeting today was a formal one about the release clause, his slice of the fee and permission to talk to clubs.

The name in the frame right now is City. With Chelsea, Milan, Inter as "others" who are interested. It's not clear whether Madrid are involved or not - Marca thought they were, but don't sound so sure now.

If only Chelsea can swap Torres for him.

Real and Barca are also being debated on this page.

It has nothing whatsoever to do with Kun.

I've given my 2 cents on the topic, something you rarely do in the football forums.

No, you haven't. You have tried to turn yet another thread into a vehicle for your gay little Spanish football feud. Keep that stupid shit to whatever thread has been designated for you and the other 'tards to exchange drool in.

Wrong, it was already being discussed by wr8, redthaidevils, scrumpet, and apotheosis but you never once flapped your gums.

The only reason you took issue with me is because you clearly have a thing for Jose Mourinho.

Which is perfectly fine, I shall not begrudge you of it.

Many people do.

Astoundingly, you are wrong. As usual. The reason I took issue with you, is because you posted a video entitled "Mourinho - Biggest Hypocrite" in a thread about Aguero, despite posts such as this:

Let's no turn this thread into Madrid vs Barcelona lads, it's possible to discuss one team without mentioning another.

And a subsequent one by jojojo, attempting to keep the thread on track. But you just couldn't help yourself, could you?

And you wonder why more and more people are turning on you. Have a fecking word with yourself.

Barca still have 7-8 players in the lineup from their youth teams. That's pretty admirable.

Madrid just spend 300m every summer. They'll probably lose Benzema as a result of Aguero coming as well.

I've actually read somewhere that Mourinho has persuaded 'zema to stay.

As good as Aguero is I don't think Madrid Need another striker.

What they need to do is keep their current team and let them gel together more, let them know each other more, create some sort of stability, they are not far off being world beaters, they just need time.

It's Chelsea who need Aguero's class with Torres forgetting how to play football and Drogba getting on.

It would be a match made in heaven imo.

Then again....Chelsea need to find a bleeding coach first.

If Madrid do get Aguero I think it's yet another "Perez signing". I just can't see the sense of them signing Kun or Coentrao this season.

It's on his twitter as well now. He said he would tell the club when he wanted to leave, and that day has arrived. He also said it he would make it public, and so he is keeping his word.

Going to be pretty horrible to see this great player move to a team like City or Chelsea. He's a special one. Would prefer if he stayed in Spain.

Would be even more annoying to see him move to City, another club with feck all history. They aren't even as big as the club he's already at...

I bet £6m Hernandez outscores him next season if he joins the bitters.

Rumors floating around that Sanchez also soon to be unveiled.

After seeing him not celebrate any of his goals on sunday i was dreading this decision from him. Cant really blame him for wanting to further his career but i do not think a move to City will benefit him personally. Chelsea too, how would he fit in? Him and Torres weren't the most prolific partnership last time they played together. Barcelona could have him playing in the front 3, and so could Real i guess. Dont see him moving to Italy either to be fair.

Hopefully he moves to one of Juve/Inter/Barca/Madrid. Do not want him anywhere in the PL!

I'd still want him here anyday of the week. He's a special player, a very special player who's going to become great.

Aguero and Sanchez both at City will be a worry. They're building a good side there, if they manage to sign a proper creative midfielder and one or two good defenders, and with the kind of money available they might finally pull it off, they will be a threat.

They've got Silva... And that Lescott bloke is like a lucky charm to them ( Hilarios goal against Bolton on Saturday )

If they line up
----------Kun-------
AJ---------------Alexis
--------Silva--------
-----Dejong--Yaya--

They'll be a very good/strong side imo...

Johhson isn't all that and I reckon he might soon be off to another Premier League side, I think they will line up with a trio of Aguero, Sanchez and Silva up front, a creative midfielder behind their backs, Toure linking up defence and attack, de Jong protecting the defence. Their defence is a worry though but they've not exactly been leaking goals this season, although with three defensive midfielders on the pitch most of the time it doesn't seem that strange.

They're bound to build a good team with that kind of money. I only hope we can sign a player or two in the Summer before they grab them all.

What are their choices for their Creative MF ?

Pastore ? Can't see Sneijder joining them... Cesc + Modric ?

They have had bids rejected for Pastore, they might try again. Hamsik is a possibility as he has been linked with nearly all the clubs on the planet. Fabregas won't go there. Sneijder would go there if he had a chance and so would Modric, it's up to Mancini really because he has a huge budget and should really spend a large part of it on a creative midfielder they are missing. Hopefully he won't and will stick to the plan of playing Barry there.

Sergio Aguero asks to leave Atletico Madrid - ESPN Soccernet

Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero has revealed that he wants to leave the club and has asked the Rojiblancos to consider offers for him.

Aguero, 22, has been one of Atletico's star performers since moving to the Vicente Calderon from Independiente in 2006 but has now expressed his desire to leave the club after five seasons.

The Argentina frontman spent an hour and a half at the club's stadium on Monday meeting the cub's hierarchy, before leaving without addressing the waiting media.

Aguero, who has scored 74 La Liga goals in five seasons at Atletico, then revealed on Twitter and his official website that that he has asked the club to consider offers.

"I said long ago that when I wanted to go, I would say publicly. And the time has come," Aguero said on his official website. "So I keep my word and here I am. I find it hard to leave Atletico. It hurts and saddens me."

In a lengthy statement on his official website, Aguero revealed that Atletico were aware that he would want to leave in June when he signed his last contract and he insisted he wants to leave the club for sporting not economic reasons.

"I've thought long and hard and I am convinced that I must be true to myself," Aguero said. "I do not think I put a ceiling on the ability to keep learning, to keep growing. After five intense years, this stage for me personally is over and I have to give way to a new one.

"I'm about to turn 23 and I have everything before me. Suffice it to say that this is not an economic issue but strictly a sporting one. So I want to clearly express my appreciation to the club for the efforts they have made for giving me a salary that equates with the largest clubs in the world.

"I want to say also that this decision has been maturing for some time. The issue was discussed and agreed with Atletico last year when I was renewing my contract. I wanted to sign as a way to give back to the club for all the support they have given me. Had I not done so, they might not have received any more for my transfer.

"I received then a promise that the club would not stand in my way if I wanted to leave this summer. Therefore, in line with that commitment and my decision, I have asked them to listen to any offers they receive for me from different clubs.''

The forward also praised Atletico's supporters, adding: "For the fans, my eternal gratitude. I'm not trying to be original or say the politically correct. I'd rather say what I feel, beyond all other considerations because I know that the only way they will understand is if I do from my heart. That was the way I felt when I have talked all these years, with sincere love and affection. You are already part of my identity."

Aguero has had no shortage of admirers in recent years, with the likes of Chelsea, Inter Milan, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Real Madrid all believed to have show interest. But it is Los Blancos who have been most heavily linked with a swoop in the Spanish press.

Real boss Jose Mourinho has often repeated his desire to add an extra striker to his squad this season and with the club unlikely to make Emmanuel Adebayor's loan move permanent, Aguero is reportedly being lined up to join compatriots Gonzalo Higuain and Angel Di Maria at the Bernabeu.

A move across Madrid would be one of the most controversial in recent memory and would see Aguero join the likes of Jose Antonio Reyes and Bernd Schuster in having played for both sides in the Spanish capital.

The Argentina ace signed a contract extension in January, though he admitted at the time that it did not mean he would not look for a move away from the club at the end of the season.

"I'm staying here because I want to,'' Aguero told the club's website at the time. "The club has always treated me very well. I am very happy, and that's why I renewed my contract.

"If in June, the club and I decide that it is best that I find a new club, it will be a decision we make together, but for now I am only thinking about trying to get into the Champions League with this team."

Real are certainly one of the few clubs in Europe who could affor Aguero's €45 million release clause, though Atletico claimed last month that another clause was inserted saying that the striker couldn't join their city rivals.

"I received offers for Forlan and Aguero from Real Madrid, but Aguero will not join Madrid," Atletico CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin told Onda Cero in April.

"We agreed on a buy-out clause of €45 million when he signed his contract extension. However, we also agreed that he couldn't' join Real Madrid - not even if they meet his minimum release clause."

Aguero once claimed he would never play for a team starting with the letter 'R', in reference to Racing and Real Madrid, the two bitter rivals of the clubs he has played for so far in his career.

I quite like watching Aguero play, so I really would prefer it if didn't go to city.

I think he is similar in some ways to Suarez so I imagine he would probably be a good signing.
