Sergio Aguero

If SAF wants his man then I don't think he'll be concerning paying 40+ million. That's just the market in this day and age. If it's what we have to do to stay competitive or whatever then SAF would do it. (Not saying we aren't competitive or anything like that, just a what if, situation.)

I agree mate, but Aguero is far superior to Tevez and let's face it, no matter how much we hate that cnut, Tevez was (at times) a great player for us, Aguero has far more goals in him than Tevez, far more than Berbs at even at a push, dare I say Rooney himself? Pato just isn't going to happen sadly, if it did I would be absolutely over the moon.

Either this or of course we could wait until Welbeck turns into the new Henry.

Doubt we are in for a striker, Fergie is more likely gone wait for one of ours to blossom into a class striker then spend 25+++ million on one.

35m for Forlan and 55m for Aguero :wenger:

This is seriously messed up.

For Forlan who is so much older and has a derisory record in England yes, but if you signed Aguero today and managed to hold onto him for the rest of his career you could get 250 goals out of him which is pretty conservative for someone of his ability, in today's market if you can get a striker of that pedigree you may not need to replace for ten years I think is worth it.

Aguero is worth no more than 35m max.

That's really a very high number

Well he is 21 and has scored something like 25 in 35 in the last two seasons, I think that is an achievable number with lets say up to 15 professional seasons in front of him which is ultimately why he and Pato are valued as much as they are.

Whilst watching Atletico last week, despite the fact they were tumescent and their midfield was non-existent, he was very sharp and broke our defence in a way I've seen few do in recent times- I'm just surprised that Real didn't try harder to get him in the summer and got Benzema instead.

The club won't pay that kind of money for him let the renties have him.Besides we have Biram Diouf on his way.

The club is planning for 2012. The next few years dont matter. We can afford to release our grip on the trophies. Three on the trot is more than enough.

We have Welbeck, Macheda, King, coming in. They are world standard already. So, why buy?

Did you pluck this date out of the air? It sounds like tripe to me. You can't stop a team and say, "Right lads, take a few years off, we'll start again in 2012," under normal circumstances, let alone when the maanger's coming to the end of his reign. Besides, considering the £30 million that was spent on Berbatov (who'll be 31 in 2012), it's insane to suggest that we're only going to invest in players who may-or-may-not break into the first team in three years' time.

Obviously, you don't know what you're talking about. So, we can let you off this one.

Both you and Redpavan dont happen to have caught the irony in my post. Tough shit for you both.

He will leave Atletico for sure this summer, whoever sign him will get an amazing player.

Reports in the press claim that he's flatered by Chelsea's interest, but has pledged his future to Athletico. Make of that what you will. Love to see him at United, but I don't see it happening.

Chelsea probably sign him in January.... Would be nice to see him in the prem!! Better watching him play for us but we seemed to have filled up our striking options with a lot of quantity!

He is cup tied, isnt he? Could anyone clarify?

If he is, then he wont be able to play in the CL. Think Chelsea will sign a cup tied player?

If the ban is only lifted for one window then yes they will bring forard all their signing plans regardless.

Yep, he'd be cuptied, which is why if they are to make a signing, I could see them looking at David Villa, although I'm not so certain they will be spending massive money, Abramovich has wanted them to be self-sufficient for some time now, I think those days are gone

I could see them signing some young players with potential instead

Nothing I can't fix in a balaclava, clutching a crowbar.

Yeah he would be but i doubt Athletico will be looking to sell in January regardless... I was thinking Chelsea bringing him in for the summer but signing him in January due to the obvious ban that is coming their way! Seems like the best way of business for them!!
