I get that the comments werent made on the pitch....does it really matter where he said them?
If you play in a mens competitive league in any country (I play in Canada at the moment) be prepared to be called gay and much worse in a variety of languages.
What's your point? That it happens or that it's acceptable?

I play in Toronto, Canada. Calling someone gay on the field would be the quickest way to get banned. Toronto FC held it's first pride night just over a month ago. You should find a new league.

That doesn't compute. It's not acceptable, but it is for Aurier? He wasn't playing football at the time, which was your original argument of acceptability. He was on his off time, no pressures on him but we shouldn't judge him for doing something you deem unacceptable? Sorry that doesn't fly with me.It is not acceptable at all. Im just saying it happens alot and perhaps we shouldnt be judging Aurier based off those comments alone
Being against homophobia is thin skinned? Right I finally see where you stand here.Sure maybe in a coed rec league you'd get banned for that.
Thanks for your concern but Im ok with the league Im in.
You seem very thin skinned.
I don't know how to reply to this without offending you, but I really miss the days people had thicker skin.

In France the gay lobby is very powerful and the media hate Aurier.
But the translation of the word "fiotte" is weak.. it isn't homophobic...in fact it's only the british media that talk about that homophobic stuff and it's funny...
OK this is crazy. Yes, what Aurier said was homophobic.
Aurier called someone on the pitch gay, its terrible behaviour but lets keep it real...guys call each other gay on the field all the time...it still happens and I laugh at whoever wants to call me gay or any other names when Im playing football.
I dont think Suarez is really racist, as deplorable as he is i feel as though he was just talking shit to get under Evra's skin. I took more offense when he bit Chellini
I don't know what he said but since racism/homophobia is almost always exaggerated to make whoever is saying things look worse I think he deserves a second chance.

Yes.
Do you speak French?
False. Any source?
Wise man
You interpret him making a comment as "him being against homosexuality". That's not what he said. I am not against homosexuality but that doesn't mean I literally hate every person who's ever said something not-politically-correct. It's insane to me how people see everything as black and white when there is so much more to what people say. He never even insinuated homosexuality was bad in his comments, he simply said he was acting like he was in a homosexual relationship with someone. YOU'RE the one who interpreted it as it being bad, not Aurier.
Some folks can be very sensitive...it is the SJW era
A minute ago you said this stuff was unacceptable, now you're saying it's over-sensitive to object to it. Which is it?
Thanks mateThat's homophobic slur, people can take it as they want but that's homophobic and that's not something that you say casually either. You can call someone an "enculé" without the homophobic sense but it doesn't really apply to what Aurier said.

He probably meant he wasn't man enough to defend him from the evil Zlatan? The arguments defending Aurier are just weak and getting into minute details of what he could have meant. He said Blanc "isn't a man". Well then what exactly is he?
Ah yes 'une fiotte'. I understand completely. No doubt marginalises all our homosexual fans and also does nothing to help homosexual players in terms of their confidence in being themselves. Generally it seems that footballers can use derogatory phrases with minimal punishment. I do get it though. If I was a minority group and someone who I ought to idolise/support made derogatory comments that affected me I'd be pissed, because it gives you an incite into what they feel about people in that group. Disdain. Its a weird signing if true.OK this is crazy. Yes, what Aurier said was homophobic.

Those days also come with a lot more ignorance and overt discrimination.
"Fiotte" does indeed mean "coward" but I think Aurier used the word "tarlouze" which is much more homophobic than "fiotte" which isn't at all tbh.
It appears he called him a faggot which is clearly derogatory to all gay people. Like calling someone a P*** or a n*****. stating someone is south asian or black is not an offence by themselves but.......you know where I am going with this. You interpret him making a comment as "him being against homosexuality". It's not what he said as clarified by the caf's French speakers. It was something that was suggested by someone else, hence I put it in quotation. The only thing that offends me is how people are constantly telling me I am offended when all I am trying to do is stand up for my beliefs. If that's literally what he said, then how on earth is it homophobic? If anything it would be sexist but that's just a common term to say when someone is being a coward. I have 0 issues with that and if you do, no point in discussing anything since you're offended by anything.

Why would he not be allowed work in the uk?
Whats all the panic about?
So you're offended that people are challenging your beliefs? My original point stands about you being thin skinned then.
I think the main meaning of "Fiotte" is "effeminate/girly man".
Given the context and the social background of Aurier, a "Man" is certainly somebody like Kaaris, a rapper he likes
I don't like rap. Just to provide with some context.
