Serge Aurier | Spurs player

Sky Sports have been made to look silly on a number of occasions in this window. Would wait to see what the Manchester Press pack report before giving up on this guy.

Until the outcome of his trial is known it would make sense for the club to flat out deny any interest. Or maybe Sky Sports are correct.

Serge Aurier belongs in jail. Hope United don't sign him. Absolute and utter cnut.

Would be easier for journos to just ask Jose after the match about possible signings than believing Sky these days.

I think it's to do with player being available rather than club actively trying to sign player. Also he can play as LB if I'm not wrong.
Yeah. But I think the reason is that Jose prefers a more attacking fullback on one side and a more defensive one on the other. So basically we'd have Aurier and Valencia, two fullbacks fullbacks in the right and Darmian/Blind in the left. Or it might just be that he has faith that Shaw will come good. Let's also hope that Shaw will come good .

I tend to believe Sky this time since Jose already said he wants a midfielder and a winger this summer, with the midfielder being done then it's the winger coming.

I'll welcome Aurier at any time, though, but can't see it happening.

Can you please show me the evidence of where Sane as you put it "fails badly" in his attempts to out run Valencia.

What I actually said was that Aurier would be a upgrade on Valencia for pace and stamina because in my opinion he has searing pace and is a Duracell bunny regards stamina.

In Sane's first match against us, Sane was ripped for pace by Valencia - just go re-watch it. Sterling has also been outpaced, and I have yet to see him outpaced. Do you have any evidence of that perhaps?

Could you rather prove to me that Aurier is faster and offers more pace than Valencia?

Yup, was expecting to see the usual suspects denying interest after seeing the Sky Sports tweet, (it displays the newest tweets first so quite rightly assumed that Sky were re-reporting someone that actually knew what they were talking about.)

Not hard to figure that we officially have no interest until his visa situation is resolved at which point if he can work in the UK then we will be interested in him.

I asked you to provide me the footage of Sane being out paced by Valencia. If you don't want to that's fine.

My post about a 24 yr old Aurier being faster than a 32yr old Valencia is my opinion.

Iirc Valencia was outpaced by jeffrey Schlupp when we played leicester under LVG.

People are still peddling this?

UK has some homegrown jihadists, who would cut your head off in the middle of the day, but would not grant entry to an African footballer for much less offense.

At what point did we go from hating Surez for the N word and being okay with our club getting linked with a player who publicly called his manager a fa**ot?

If this type of player is brought to the club, I will start to question my faith in the club.

Are you seriously comparing racist behavior with some childish act Aurier did on periscope?

Is it that incomparable? Both instances seem to simply show quite a bit about the character of the person.

Sure, using the N word the way Suarez did is horrible, but I'm pretty sure it just shows similar character traits to the other case, in that he's probably a d-bag and an idiot. So pretty similar in terms of judging a player's character - I'd say Aurier seems like a bit of a d-bag and a bit of an idiot likewise.

The difference could be if you were suggesting that Suarez's racist behavior means that he is an actual racist (i.e. somebody who really regards black people as inferior in some way), but do you really think he believes that? I doubt it, seems more like he was just being a c***, like he has on several occasions throughout his career.

So yeah, not that incomparable. If I had a say I wouldn't want Aurier here at all.

People make mistakes sometimes. And you already call him a d-bag and do not want him here. Not everybody can be on Mata level.

Big difference. One was an actual racist slur against someone black, the other was name calling against someone who probably isnt gay. One is stupid and deserves punishment, the other is appalling and deserves heavy censure of the player, which happened.

Homophobia is no less homophobic regardless of who it's directed to.

Are you seriously saying that racist behavior is worse than homophobic behavior?
Both are wrong and deserve punishment but evra actually is black whereas auriers manager probably isnt gay so its far less personally damaging.

When you look at how much quality attacking full backs have been sold for this window, between £40-£50 Million, and then we could sign a player of the calibre of Aurier for about £25 Million.

Even if Aurier wasn't in the original plan, surely its looking a gift horse in the mouth to not be interested.

Yes Valencia was great last season, but he will be 32 before the season starts, how many games can he play, 60? 65?
How many more seasons left in his tank?

Aurier would be great competition and cover for the RB position, and he'd take to the Premiership like a duck to water.

I'm looking at his wiki page and nothing suggest me that he is a horrible person. He has been away from his parents at the age of 13, due to his footballing move and he was a captain of the reserve team at that age.

"In October 2016, during a World Cup Qualifier against Mali, Aurier rushed to the aid of Mali midfielder, Moussa Doumbia who had suffered an epileptic fit to prevent him from swallowing his tongue. Despite his good deed, Aurier later drew criticism for celebrating Ivory Coast's second goal with a 'slit throat' gesture.[68]"

This tells me that he is a good guy. Competitive, but good in nature. As far as his record for elbowing a cop. Some of those cops can be real assholes sometimes, especially against a black person.

It is incomparable, because as i said it was a childish act from Aurier, and he seems to have that strike of idiot element and he didn't meant it as a homophobic slur.
On the other side Suarez is a proven vile person with a list of serious acts, as biting and abusing opponents.
Are you seriously saying that racist behavior is worse than homophobic behavior?
I didn't say that. I think you exaggerated about Aurier, he made mistakes but nothing of the kind you mentioned in your post.

But the level of personal damage varies greatly on whether you are or arent gay.
Just to elaborate, if the stories are true, he was asked if Blanc s**ks Zlatan off. His reply was "he takes it all". And this is in addition to the Fa*** comment. You're going to tell me that's not as damaging to the manager and general public, kids watching the broadcast?

Add to this, calling the referee 'a dirty SOB' and assaulting a police officer?

Where do we draw the line and say that it's unacceptable for us to be associated with such a player? I am sure as hell okay with dull attacking from Darmian than have Aurier pull a United shirt.

Homophobia is no less homophobic regardless of who it's directed to.
This.

Think he's not that bad guy as some are making him out to be. Sure he acts like a tool sometimes but IMO it's down to being not too bright rather than being a cnut.
