Marca says Malaga is for sale.

The owner's got someone in there working on what has to be paid urgently (presumably to keep Malaga in the CL and La Liga?) and will then try to sell it.

An Albanian company (or its owner Rezart Taçi) is apparently interested.

Yeah, local papers are jumping on this latest development...What a mess but the good is that for whatever reasons Qatari ownership hasn't been working out, perhaps a change will improve their predicament

Still a very curious turn of events

If Le Arse can bring in Sahin and Cazorla then RVP would be better off staying with the gunners, they would definitely be taking a step in the right direction. That said I rather fancy that it is more likely that he wants to earn closer to 200k a week.

Naaahhhh....really! I'm convinced it's for football reasons. The lad just wants to win stuff....money means nothing to him.

Many newspapers saying that deal will be confirmed this week or today itself. Will be an amazing signing for Arsenal.

Good signing for Arsenal this. A techno-midget, like they've got in abundance, but one with real quality and international pedigree.

Wenger looks to have learned his lesson from last season.

The Spanish press say the sale of Malaga may be concluded today - once the accounts are sorted out.

So I guess it depends on whether the sale needs Cazorla sold first as part of the debt clearing exercise or whether they won't sell until the new owners are in charge to do the negotiating with the player and the club. Certainly, it won't be good news for Malaga if the new owners are willing to lose key players straight away, despite having a CL campaign to come.

For those curious about the club being sold, the story runs a bit wider than football. The owners have other business interests in Malaga. With the collapse of the Spanish economy, they've tried to push through a few projects (new resort hotel etc) in the area and had problems with all of them - rejected planning consents, they've run up against the EU environment impact assessment rules, they've been ordered to pay their taxes

It looks like they felt Malaga (and Spain) should be more grateful (and to be fair, there's every possibility that the local government and politicians were trying to milk them for every Euro they could squeeze out) and the club was just caught in the backlash.

Proof will be in the pudding... Won't get my hopes up until I see him on the official site.

Selling Cazorla for anything less than £25 million will say Malaga are done. Even if they are done and things are as bad as the worst reports about them, I dont expect they'll announce it to the world by selling Cazorla for a decent fee. I guess this will tell us about whether the new owners know much about football or not, because if Cazorla goes they'll be inundated with people wanting to leave the club. Remember that the only reason the likes of Toulalon and the rest came there a year ago was the money and promise that they'd be contenders for the league. As soon as thats not the case, nobody will want to be there

Malaga Episode 13: Going into a Tailspin

The people who were rumoured to be buying Malaga, an Albanian Oil and investment company, have said they aren't interested.

It's thought that Malaga have about 40m of shortterm debt some of which needs to be repaid in days, including part of the money originally paid for the club, transfer fees, and taxes. There's no cash in the bank.

At this moment it looks like they're definitely going to be selling something/someone.

Unfortunately Valencia, the natural home for Cazorla :D don't have cash to buy him and Malaga need cash not stage payments. Arsenal are thought to be the only people who've named a figure (20m) so far, but others are sniffing around.

See yet again how the hell have owners come in and bought the club, promised all these big transfers / wages and then suddenly cannot afford even to pay off the club?. What sort of checks do these people go through?. Its like a spanish portsmouth all over again.

Malaga may end up losing their CL spot then if they don't pay off these debts?

Yep, in which case it'll go to Atletico instead.

Osasuna (one of the clubs they owe) will then get their Europa League place.

There's even a possibility, if some of the debts aren't resolved (fast) they'll get relegated, and Villareal (one of the clubs they owe) will get their Liga place.

According to SKY Sports he's on his way to Arsenal.

Spanish international Santi Cazorla is due to fly into London this week for a medical with Arsenal, Sky Sports understands.

The Malaga midfielder wants to quit the troubled club - whose Qatarian owners are looking to sell.

Despite a takeover looking likely, Cazorla is pressing for his sale to go through and he looks set to get his wish.

A deal worth around €22million (£17.3million) looks set to be agreed between the two clubs.

The player's representatives have already held talks with Arsenal and they are happy with the proposed deal on offer at the Emirates.

Malaga paid €19million to Villarreal just 12 months ago, but they have huge unpaid debts of around €40million which need settling this week.

Talks with Albanian oil company Taci have broken down and, whilst there is Russian and Middle East interest, the deal to sell Cazorla looks like it is needed to help sort out their current mess.

Sky Sports understands that Cazorla should be in England within the next 48 hours to conclude a deal, which would be a major coup for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

The 27-year-old, a regular in Spain's all-conquering international squad, helped Malaga into the top four in La Liga last season.

Fss. Do I have to support Le Arse now?

It'll be a great transfer for Arsenal. Cazorla, Giroud, Podolski, Sahin and a couple more transfers and they might actually compete for a trophy next season. They're going to be much better than Spurs for sure.

Excellent transfer for Arsenal. I don't rate Podolski much but this guy is a stunning player.

Gives them a great chance to make at least 4th spot. Can't be good news for the dippers.

They just seem to be buying a whole bunch of players in positions where they're already well-stocked and nobody in the positions where they lack depth/quality. Very strange spending spree.

Not really.

I think Walcott's off.

Their front three will be
Podolski-Giroud-Cazorla.

He'll need to be, if that lot are all going to get games.

Walcott was their most productive midfielder last season and he's still only 23. Seems strange to be giving up on him already.

Can't say that's a very impressive front three anyway. Don't know much about Cazorla but I don't think either of the other two are much cop.

Cazorla, if it does come off, will be the Cesc replacement we didn't manage to get last season.

A holding midfielder and possibly Niang and that will be us done for the summer imo.

Excellent signing for Arsenal. An intelligent player who has always stood out when I've seen him play - he'll fit right in with Wenger's team.

You got Arteta. Your results with/without him speak volumes. Seems a bit premature to drop him, if you ask me.

What position does this Cazorla guy play anyway. KM's sticking him wide in a front three and you're saying he can play in central midfield?

I really hope you're done for the summer, by the way. It will please me greatly if Arsenal go into next season with the same defence as the season just gone.

He'll be more of Nasri replacement than Fabregas IMO.

Don't think they've an option. He's in last year of his contract like Persie.

Surely Walcott wouldn't get a move to a bigger club than Arsenal though? I can't see any logical reason he wouldn't stay, if he offered him a new contract.

Yes Chelsea.

Meanwhile we've added two central midfielders to our squad. Seems much more intelligent.

That's pushing it. A kid who played as a forward last season and Kagawa who operates in the same area as Rooney.

There's arguments to be had here back and forth but traditional central midfielders they are not. Powell could be though.

Kagaw is definitely a midfielder.

He's one of those "AM"s that 90% of the posters on here have been demanding for the last few years.

Arteta replaced Wilshere last season, Cazorla/Mata were seen as Cesc's replacement but it didn't happen.

Cazorla can play anywhere across the front 3 midfield positions or even further back in the position Arteta played in last season. I'd be very surprised(if he does come to us) if he didn't play most games centrally, mainly the position Rosicky filled last year.

And i don't think there's any chance of us buying a new defender, so rejoice away

Sky sports understands... Didn't they say Aquilani had signed for Fiorentina a few days ago?
