Panic.

There were lucky to finish 1 point ahead of Spurs last season and are maybe about to lose their most prolific goal scorer.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Spuds absolutely bottling the un-bottleable did help mind you.

Always in our shadow.

So you're telling me you think Arsenal in England are going to be more alert to the situation of Malaga in Spain than local Spanish clubs?

I suppose Barcelona were the first to hear about Portsmouth's troubles

I'm very impressed Arsenal got him, without people making out you got him on £12 million and with lower wages than he was on at Malaga. Sounds a bit far fetched

I don't know about the wage situation, but Cazorla wanted to move to Arsenal last season - though it seems Malaga, ironically, offered big cash upfront and that put paid to our bid. So he's been interested in moving to Arsenal before... Arteta took a pay-cut to sign for us, so I suppose it's not inconceivable to think maybe Cazorla has? Who knows?

Otherwise I'd expect he'd be on 70-80k.

I dont think its inconceivable for him to take a pay cut if its true that he was very close to joining Arsenal last summer. However this thread is the first I'm hearing of it so I'm obviously skeptical of that being the case, especially with Malaga being the big movers and shakers in la liga and of course the fact he was their big money signing last season... But I guess the story would explain a few things.

Well Arsenal got a good player for a fair price I would say.

I wonder if Arsene will send Podolski to the right side then to cut inside and shoot, even though I don't rate him to highly he has a really good left foot and I always wondered why no one really tried using him in that "Robben" role.

Madrid are always involved when its a Spanish player rated highly, PSG are sticking their noses everywhere, Spurs have money coming in for Modric, Chelsea are signing everyone, Milan need to rebuild and now have some money to use, Juventus have just sold Krasic so there should be a space and so on.

Its a great signing because other teams are sure to have had an interest in him. So there needs to be something more to explain why you guys were the only ones bidding. If he's on the very very cheap and he's willing to take a wage cut, there would have been a public auction for him

R.Madrid - They have Ozil & Di Maria, also a few years ago Carzola rejected the chance to join them so R.Madrid naturally wouldn't want to go for him again. Also their priority this summer seems to be Modric which they haven't pulled off yet.

PSG - They seem to be targeting more 'high profile' players like Lucas Moura so Carzola might not be what they are after. They didn't go for the likes of Hazard or Kagawa either so he might not be what Ancelotti is after.

Chelsea - They have just signed Oscar, Hazard & Mata so they don't really need him at all as they are well covered in that position.

Spurs - They haven't sold Modric yet & have signed Vertonghen & Sigurdsson so am guessing they are waiting for Modric transfer to materialise before spending any more money. I don't know much about Sigurdsson but isn't he an attacking midfielder? If so then they are well covered in that position. Their priority at the moment seems to be a striker and IF Modric leaves a replacement for him. Also he would get no CL football there either.

Milan & Juve - Like I said many players might not like the prospect of joining serie a at the moment as the league isn't as strong as it once was. Also I don't know the ins and outs of their squads so they might already have players in his position.

This summer there hasn't been a mad transfer spree apart from maybe Chelsea & PSG so most clubs might be looking to balance the books more carefully especially with new UEFA rules coming in soon. Not all players are after just mega wages, I'm guessing he has been well paid at Malaga anyway and I've heard Fabregas & Pires both told him not to turn down the chance of joining us. With so many top quality Spanish players around he would probably want to join a club which could get the best out of him and hopefully that will be the case here.

That is the annoying thing about you Glaston, you are going to be giving it large until your team does their annual bottle job and then you're not around to take the piss out of. Your posting habits are kind of like your team, you go missing when the going gets tough....

Arsene has talked about him playing a more central role so we might not have two wide fowards and central striker like last summer and maybe have two central strikers and someone playing off them. I guess in training Arsene will probably experiment and see what is best for him.

Err I hate to defend Arsenal but You've lost your most prolific goal scorer of last season. You're maybe about to lose your best midfielder. The only senior striker on your books is Jermaine Defoe. Your Goalkeeper is 41 years old. You've a manager who has previously failed in EPL(whatever the reason).

I genuinely Spurs have more cause of worry than Arsenal right now.

he is having his best season, great little player, the whole Arsenal hit fantastic form..
