Sami Khedira

Are the Germans on here still slagging off his selection?
Most probably agree that he's a good addition in a midfield 3, where his constant runs forward add a lot to the team without exposing the defense. The Kroos, Khedira & Schweinsteiger midfield is excellent and suits all three players while the 4231 with Khedira next to Schweinsteiger or Kroos always caused massive problems for the team. Best game I've seen from him so far in his career.

I'd buy Khedira and sell Carrick next season. 33/34 years old, and he was never a world beater like Roy Keane or Paul Scholes - he will need to be replaced soon.

Well I would say we have been watching different players then. He offers a lot of balance to the midfield. You have to have some brains to play in the German national side. Seems to do a good job in my opinion.

Don't think that's true, plenty of dumb players have played their part in the success of a national team. Don't disagree that he offers balance, and he definitely can add something in a midfield three, but he's obviously not a very clever player and his decision making (over his career, last night it was fine) backs that up.

He plays for Real Madrid, a key part of the German national team, I can assure you that he is very tactically aware footballer.

I'm fine with you having a far differing opinion to me on him as a player but I will argue all day that he is a smart footballer. At the right price and considering how other business goes, I would like to see him at United.

He is not one of the leading players...

He is a good midfielder, he works hard for the team and is consistent, but he is not a game changer, never has been, never will be. You need these types of players in your team, can't all be stars, you also need workers, and as far as workers go, he does look like one of the more technical and intelligent players, but you can hardly call him a legend.

He is still better than most of the midfielders we have got, like cleverly anderson fletcher fellaini

Caftards don't really anymore

Thank goodness.

If you looked at comments before last nights game there were quite a few who rated him quite highly.

Khedira and even Di Maria are being higher rated on here right now than even Most Real Madrid fans rate them.

Not really. Khedira isn't being rated as one of the best midfielders, just a very good one who's quite underrated. Di Maria is brilliant but potential transfer targets are always hyped to more than what they are.

He adds balance and confidence to German national team, but often looks like the week link in Real Madrid. I'd be happy to replace him with someone quicker and more technical, but whoever comes in probably won't match his workrate and comitment. Maybe Khedira would do better in EPL.

Arsenal's getting close-ish. What's up with Wenger anyway? He seems to chase German players nowaday.

Are you a Real Madrid fan? If so, you already had two players last season who matched his work rate and commitment in Di María and Modrić. Doubt your incoming signings (Kroos and potentially James) will match Khedira/Di María for work rate but they'll add different things.

He has to be sold if a good offer comes in, especially with his contract nearly up.

Don't rate him that much, but he had a very good tournament. He also has a super hot girlfriend the lucky bastard.

I wasn't appreciative of his talents before this WC, now I've been converted. Excellent player.

He was one of the few players who still got on well with Mourinho at the end wasn't he?

Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up at Chelsea if they can't get Pogba or any other super expensive midfielder.

If he's available we should definitely go for him. He's not a world beater but can play a important role in a top team.

One of the reasons Lowe took him to Brazil was his influence on the players in the dressing room. He's a leader and can motivate his team by most of the accounts I've heard.

Think he is trying to do a Daglish, buy the finished article get a few trophies and then move on.

He has never really built an academy that has produced anything. His experiments with buying potential never really delivered anything in terms of trophies. So now it is the finished article that he is buying and he has bought quality.

Wait...what??

He is a good player, especially if used a certain way. But the Madrid team improved dramatically once he got injured and Alonso took his place. He is pretty clumsy with the ball at times and most of his runs forward are pointless and result in him breaking down attacks, losing the ball or going nowhere. The team always struggled with possession with him in the team. There are definitely much better midfielders out there.

So he won lots of things? I must have missed all those trophies, and don't go down the route of we have been in the Cl year on year.

Let's be honest. Arsenal have played some nice football, but they won next to nothing once Wenger changed to buying potential. All his trophies were acquired when he bought pretty established players, Bergkamp, Viera, Petit, Overmars ...etc. Once he went down the route of buying the likes of Walcott, Ox, Ramsey, half the french and spanish academies, he won bugger all.

Under his leadership I don't recall Arsenal youth academy winning year on year either.

Now he is buying the likes of Sanchez, Ozil, possibly Khedira they will be some force, i.e. he is buying almost finished product.

Exactly, if we get Vidal than sure he is better than Khedira, but I'd take Khedira over the likes of De Jong or Blind any day of the week, can't understand anyone scoffing Arsenal if they sign him.

I'd go for Khedira. £20m, so cheap for a class act. However so is the same for Kroos.

Tbh, im having few issues seeing van Gaals vision.

It's odd how Arsenal are one of the older sides around nowadays. There definitely seems to be more of a sense of urgency about Wenger, he can't really be arsed to wait around for players to develop and as above seems to be targeting ready made players ages 25 plus. I'm pretty sure Arsenal fielded a team with an average age of about 30 last year, though I suppose with everyone fit it's a different story. Gone are the days when Wenger instantly ostracised anyone over 30 though.

I would give him 150K/w without doubt. We gave it to Cashley Young, Nani is not far, we have not Vida, Rio, Giggsy and Evra anymore, so 150K is not crazy IMO.

If we were about to pay 40M for Di Maria, we can do it for Sami too.

He's worth that money, and if we can't get Vidal we will get Sami if we go for him.

He can be a real addition to our team, and I would fit very very very well with Herrera, Mata and even Carrick.

Would love it !

Khedira isn't worth £40m, he shouldn't get £150k a week and we're not paying Young £150k a week. He's very good though and at a right price could be a handy buy.

He's only got a year on his contract and Madrid are having trouble getting serious discussions about his contract underway. Khedira presumably is happy to be in a position to take advantage of a lower than unusual transfer fee. He might even be willing to risk letting his contract run out and leaving as a free agent - though I doubt it, he's just back from an ACL injury and Valdes's experience of finding himself injured and with no job might turn him off.

I think some newspapers got the numbers mixed up, when they reported he would get 10 Million a year after deductions. I think the 10 Million could be his salary before tax which is much more realistic in my opinion.

If the £150,000 per week desired wages are true then I think that's ridiculous. I think if it was a position that desperately needed filling, Wenger may stretch to it but as it stands, Bender would be a cheaper alternative whilst not compromising on quality.

Khedira might just get an extra £20/30K a week as a signing-on fee (ie £120/30K a week) if Madrid were selling for £15M due to him running down his contract. If the £150K is true, it's a no-go since it screws the whole wage structure.
