Sami Khedira

He's a good player, but there are surely superior alternatives still attainable? Decent box-to-box midfielder, good work-rate and good at pressing the opposition. A steady and reliable player, but he's not excellent defensively and certainly very average offensively. I'd rather we pursue other targets even with the condition our midfield is in.

Heh. I know we can't sniff our noses at players, but for the price fee I'd much prefer others.

I haven't seen a player yet, that we have been seriously linked with, that floats my boat. The last one was Mata. I can only hope things change dramatically after the WC.

Really? We've been linked to a lot of big names, to be fair. Sanchez or Kroos for me. Strootman and Schweinsteiger would make me pretty happy too.

He would've been a good signing last season, as we conceded most of our goals as our midfield didn't protect the defence well, which he would've done. Khedira in Moyes' system would've worked as he and Carrick could've sat in and given the front 4 more freedom to express themselves without the worry of losing the ball and getting hit on the counter.

Sami Khedira doesn't do 'sitting in'. If he was told to hold with Carrick he'd still run upfield and abandon position, he has no tactical discipline.

Khedira is a good player for a 3-men midfield. Just because he looks manly and has strong body, doesnt mean, that he is a great DM (kind of similar to Fellaini). If you get him cheap (less than 20m), it would still be a decent transfer, but not the one, that solves the problems.

Carrick, Cleverley, Fellaini and Fletcher. We need to improve that midfield. I don't think Khedira is any kind of an improvement whatsoever.

He'll help us get back in the CL. Whether he'd be able to help us win the CL, I doubt. Oh - hang on, he's just won the CL with Real Madrid.

No, he's not the big signing that fixes the team in one hit. Signed with Schweinsteiger (please) he would be a great start though. He would seem an odd signing to me, expensive without being the perfect match for our problems (a closer match that Cavani though!) on the other hand he probably is gettable.

A believable link. Kroos was sort of believable until he said it wasn't. So far I haven't seen anything in the Sanchez link. Strootman is crocked for now and there has been nothing other than speculation from Schweinsteiger, nothing encouraging. So far, nothing to get excited about, except getting rid of an unwanted left back, but apparently struggling to complete a deal for another.

I keep waiting for the caf twitterboys to produce something worth reading. :)

He's good enough to be starting in our central midfield, but not good enough to be a big money signing.

£20M isn't big money these days.

Agree, I'm more referring to last season when we're supposed to have been offering over £30 million for him. If Khedira is 100% back fit and healthy from his injury I'd be fine with taking him at £20 million.

I can see us ending up with someone like him when the genuine top stars reject us.

I'd still be quite happy with him as realistic signings go.

Crazy how he battles with his comeback just a month ago.
A world class warrior and a legend already.

He was pretty average. Dont know what people see in him. So many misplaced passes, too slow, offensively and defensively practically nonexistent. People hyping him up because he plays for Real and that we can get a Real reject for 20m. An average box to box player, with a lot of energy, contributes nothing to a game. Just remember his yellow card for fouling Griezmann.

I agree, he was pretty terrible today. The few Real Madrid fans I know want him shipped out.

Yeah. Being one of the leading players for Germany in 3 semis runs since 2010. Winning a CL.
What was I thinking.

He is not one of the leading players...

He is a good midfielder, he works hard for the team and is consistent, but he is not a game changer, never has been, never will be. You need these types of players in your team, can't all be stars, you also need workers, and as far as workers go, he does look like one of the more technical and intelligent players, but you can hardly call him a legend.

He is a quite good player.....hard worker.....i like these players BUT BUT BUT

1) You are the only person in the world who thinks Khedira is a legend
2) Yeah 3 semis for Germany is very good.....but legends are winning trophies!!!!!!!!
3) Yeah he has won the CL with Real Madrid.....but it wasn't because of him

Huge fan of Khedira and he would be a great addition to our squad and would improve us greatly and as much as I would like to see him at United, I don't think he should be on the priority list.

1) You know every person in the world? Respect

2)He is trying and no player can assure a trophy

3)He was a very important player in their 3! CL Semis runs of 2011, 2012 and 2013. So he deserved that title(btw he was fine in that final)

Sorry, but I rate him as a world class player of the finest level.

I have so much time for the way he fought back from ACL surgery to get back for a Champions League final and to make a German World Cup squad. He has great mental strength.

Khedira is far from world class.

Okay if you think he's world-class.......that's one thing........he's far away from world-class by the way IMO

But my main point was that he can't be a football legend.......he has done nothing for that status

Why is he a football legend in your eyes???

Love how people mention something is their opinion but use it as a fact to back their argument. It's an opinion. Not just in this thread, just in football discussions in general.

I don't watch much of him, but this isn't his normal role is it? He seems to be applying pressure very far up the pitch so Brazil can't build from the back. Doesn't he normally sit much deeper, in front of the back 4?

Great game regardless, but it's much easier to notice when it's further up the pitch than being neat and tidy at the back.

Nope, that is actually part of his game. He is not as defensive as some people think (and he also gets criticized from fans for playing like a "headless chicken" from time to time).

Nevertheless he's been amazing today.

Seen some comments in the match day thread "where's all the Khedira haters now, crawling into their shells etc". "Best player on the pitch, we should sign" etc

That's as bad as the ones who underrate him IMO. He, along with the entire German teams, having a blinder. All credit to them but the Brazillian defence has been pub standard. No wait, that's literally being disrespectful to pub teams.

I rate Khedira and he's having a blinder. I wouldn't mind us adding him to our squad etc, but the knee jerkS....

It's easy to play when you're literally given a freeway to run at. Where was he vs Ghana and France ?

Yeah I agree, Brazil plays without a brain, I don't know what they are doing today, but I don't think it's a good idea to rate him just because of that game.
