Sami Khedira

Rubbish article cobbled together from stuff in Spanish and Brit rags. No way are we paying him £150K/week, since we saved £5M on the transfer fee I can see that paid as a signing-on fee for an effective £120-125K/week over 4 years.

They can have him, is now reunited with Özil at FC Germany, but like Mesut I think he will be a solid player for them, but I don't think he will make them a far better team or will change much, but Sanchez could do that imo.

They need a top class holding midfielder which Khedira isn't.

I cant see why he'd choose Chelsea. Matic is already there. I could see him going to Arsenal due to Ozil and Sanchez, and they 'only' have Flamini on that spot. I'm having issues seeing a future for Wilshere at Arsenal the way they're spending.

Khedira; Ozil, Ramsey, Cazorla.

For the CL, yeah, they'll still need a holder, but for the league, Khedira would be a massive get.

Sanchez-Ozil
Ramsey-Khedira

and then 1 more attacker (Giroud/Cazorla/Walcott/Podolski/OxC) and 1 more midfielder (Wilshere/Arteta/Flamini/OxC/Rosicky) depending on matchups and form and such.

Matic is a holder, which he probably wants so he has more freedom.

Looks scary as feck to me with Mourinho in charge.

I think it's very possible that LVG would prefer to use Carrick till January and then sign Strootman in the January Window as opposed to signing another central midfielder now...he may opt for De Jong as a cheap way to add more competition too......I just can't see Khedira or Vidal coming here anytime soon

Alot of hype regarding him on the back of that World Cup while before hand he was probably underrated with many saying he was a terrible player. He's somewhere in between, he's not top class but for the right price, he would be a good addition for most squads.

For me, he's not quite good enough for Madrid's CM especially with Kroos coming in. He's a tidy passer but he's not going to open teams up, he reads the game well but going forward, he's quite cumbersome which surprisingly can pay of for him sometimes.

I don't think we have been interested at any stage and there's no reliable source saying we are.

We're spending more money now but we're not throwing it away.

Hope that deal falls through. Khedira and Sanchez would be huge signings and Arsenal would push on big time, in my opinion.

Think he'd be perfect in the role Fletcher played in yesterday. He looks to have retained all of his mobility despite the surgery from his performances at the world cup and could be had for around 22 mil.

Looked quality in that 7-1 v Brazil. First time I've seen him and thought he'd be a good buy. Was horrified at the massive fees touted last summer, but just over £20m wouldn't be a bad bet.

He would be a disaster if we sign him as number 6. Vidal is defending-wise much better, attacking-wise too.

Didn't good old Luis van Gaal reject the transfer of Khedira to Bayern in 2010? It would surprise me, should the old stubborn Dutchman change his mind on his abilities as a player.

Madrid would want to recoup a fair amount of what they paid for him I reckon. Then again they probably don't want to lose him for free either. But if his wage demands are as high as being reported he might just see his deal off. Doubt Wenger would be willing to offer him said wages, not sure about you lot.

Didn't Ancelotti say Khedira is integral to his squad? Or am I making stuff up here?

He was rather cheap, if I remember correctly. 14m Euro or something like that?

He said that about higuain last summer and is saying it now about di maria. Just playing his cards close to his chest imo. It would also be a way of him publicly backing the player in case of the situation that the player does stay so that the player would feel that he has the coaches confidence.

Khedira and Herrera could be really effective in 3-4-3/3-5-2 formation. I think while wages demands are high, he is a very good option to strengthen our midfield. And if Arsenal did backed down Madrid are left in a situation where a cut-price deal even less than 20M can be negotiated.

Why exactly would Khedira be a good signing? He isn't a holding midfielder, he's a box-to-box, much like Vidal who some do not want because he will apparently hinder Ander's abilities.

And when do things go according to what the manager wants at Real Madrid?
Forgot to mention that in my post!

@Balu On transfermarkt it says he went for 18m euros, not sure whether that's correct or not. I can't seem to recall his fee at all.

Because he is really good in defense and wins ball back a lot. He could well play with Herrera in a 3-5-2 formation. He also can be a very good DM, he is not a holding/covering type, but he still gets the job done in terms of breaking up the opposition attacks. He also adds steel and grit to our midfield, something we lack.
It all depends on the formation and playing style LVG wants, if we will be playing with 3 CBs then keeping a holding player like Luiz Gustavo is completely unreasonable, we are expected to dominate in most of the matches in PL and with a true, defensive only holding DM we have got 4 players that are effectively cut off of the attack. Which is too much. And if we are talking about top matches, well Khedira is especially good in these ones, exactly because of his good defensive skills and ability to break-down opposition's play.

All things which Vidal would do whilst being a much, much better player. Which I think was DWelbz19's point. Fair enough if you think we should get a proper DM to play behind Herrera rather than a box-to-box player to play next to him. But Khedira isn't the former, he's just a hard-working but otherwise quite shit example of the latter.
