Are we or were we linked to Berahino anywhere? I would love him here but don't saw anything that would suggest that we are even after him.
We were last season iirc, and he was at O.T. Not after that though.

I'd love him here frankly, young, bags of potential plays as a wide forward and proven in the PL.

Him & Memphis on the wings with Mata behind Rooney would work very well in my opinion

Imagine if we signed him, redcafe would have a new nice meltdown. 'Not on a level we should aspire too', 'not a united quality', 'from Pedro to Berahino' and similar.

No,no. He should replace Rooney. If you keep Rooney in the team, you play slow forever. The guy has no pace or quickness of thought. He's good in front of goal, or as a hardworking but very average midfielder but he can't stay up front due to his natural desire to run all over the pitch and take charge - he's not an intelligent football player.

He provides another option upfront for sure.

Personally i'd still like a world class striker when one becomes available, and give Rooney as much competition as possible.

I don't think so. Berahino is good player who has a lot of potential and can play anywhere across the front three. Just what we need.

And i would wait to the end of the season to argue how good is Pedro. At the start of the season Fabregas wa rated as the best midfielder in the world on this forum and i said it from the start he will not WC. Yes he had great first half of the season but since then he showed nothing to prove he is WC player.

As LVG pointed, Barca wouldn't sold him if they would this he is WC player. They would promise him he would be rotated but it looks like they were not too keen on him.

Agreed on most counts just feel that redcafe would react like that.

If anything, I think there'll be more of a meltdown if he goes to Spurs unpposed... in the "another one we've let slip by" vain

Would take him right away. Can finish with either feet, is comfortable running with the ball and has pace. Plus a United Fan.

If we are not in for him the it's clear we aren't keeping our eyes on the ball with regard to what's happening in the market and it also shows that the people in charge are blind. After what we have seen so far this season we need a quicker forward to stretch teams and he us a good finisher who also has bags of potential. We'd be idiots if we allow Spurs a free pass to his signature.

This is the type of player that Fergie would have snapped up without a second thought, just as he did with Smalling and Jones. He is a very good young player and will only improve. The fact that he is home grown is even better. I would not hesitate to sign him and drop Rooney at the current moment. We need someone with good movement, good touch and some confidence which Berahino can offer.

I personally think this would be a good signing. He's a really talented player who could make an impact right now. And if Rooney finds his form then he's a quality option from the bench. Say he goes on to have another quality season you can almost guarantee City or Chelsea will snap him up. He's got the potential to be a quality Premier League player and deserves to show what he can do in Europe. Still expect he'll go to Spurs.

Quality post.

Don't know why we're not in for him. Not a big name, but really think he'd be a success here, and could eventually lead the line for us. He's English (well, has English citizenship), strong, comfortable running in behind or coming to feet and the main thing is that he scores goals. 20 goals for a very defensive West Brom side last season, whilst spending quite a bit of time on the wing.

Have a word WBA. £22m.. You need to be accepting that figure. The kid cost them peanuts.

Very bold move to reject a transfer request, isn't it? It actually means he will still receive the loyalty bonus if he moves and that's £2m or so West Brom would have to give up.

Lose him and they are going down. Staying up is worth more than £22m to them.

Not really. They have already signed Rondon who is a very good forward and they have a decent team all round plus Tony Pulis who has never been relegated and kept a worse Palace side up easily.

Why? Good on them. Sterling left for 49m (Not saying he's worth that but it's a level that clubs can now point to and make others cough up a bit more now) and Berahino is West Broms best player with pretty good potential and a decent scoring record last season for them plus has a good one for England U-21s.

Think we'll be seeing more lower and midtable clubs rejecting seemingly great offers for their best players now, after the TV deal. Partly because of the fierce competition on the transfer market lately, partly as a simple "feck you, we don't need to sell you shit anymore".

Go WBA go,ask Levy to spit 30 mil. plus,damn... when you start paying premium and so much more for someone being English then for his qualities as player...

Let him go to Spurs, that's his level.

This guy went on 13 and 9 game streaks without scoring. 4 of his goals came against Gateshead. 17 of his goals at home. How can we expect someone like this to be back up.
So we could replace our non scoring striker and be no worse off :)

Quality post.

Thanks very much! In truth I tried to bring as much quality to it as possible :D! That can go down as a Jay from the inbetweeners movie where he says sexy a thousand times.

I'd love to see WBA play hard ball over this. It will serve Levy right for those next to impossible transfer negotiations with us.

I think we should swoop in just to really take the biscuit. Offer what they want and get it all done really quickly.

It's not good on them if Spurs pursue other options and there left with a £22m player... They are leaving themselves at risk.

Jesus Christ 22million? Spurs sure know how to waste money. I rate Berahino but that kind of money is outrageous.

Trouble is he's British, young and had a good season. That in the world of football means his price doubles at least. I mean... When Spurs themselves value Kane at £40-50m apparently what was Levy expecting?

when a player with one decent premier league season can't be bought for £22m from a team like West Brom something is absolutely mashed up.
