Fair enough but you also have to consider the fact that we can not bring in a big name striker without unbalancing the team again or causing a media shitstorm by dropping the England Captain. Bringing in Berahino will avoid these issues at least until we are in a position to make a long term decision o Rooney - should this turn out to be much worse than a temporary loss of form. If Rooney gets back to an acceptable level Berahino is young enough and not so established to accept a squad role, if he doesn't kick on then he has a sell on value being English and all. Basically we can not lose.True. The commonality, though, is that none of them are good enough for a top club, regardless of age. Of course, how highly you rate Berahino is a matter of opinion. Personally, while I think he's a nice player with promise, I don't think he's anywhere near good enough for United. If others rate him more highly, then that's fair enough. Chelsea has taken a similar approach with young, promising players as well. Lukaku is a prime example. My fundamental point is that we should be setting our sights higher. If the right player isn't available, then I'd prefer to wait.
Is N'Jie not primarily a winger though?
I know he can play across the front 3 but did he not start on the wing for Lyon last year?
Can't see Poch going 4-4-2 long term. He's rarely played it and it would mean Eriksen moving from his best position too.
Be interesting to see what the plan is if Berahino moves there.
Berahino could play on the wing? He's done it quite a bit for WBA.

Perhaps the wrong thread, but is there no hope for Lamela? You're right, we wouldn't be playing 4-4-2 if Berahino arrives. It would still be Kane as the central focal point with Berahino and Chadli (or N'Jie) as wing-forwards on either side and Eriksen playing centrally behind.
However, if Kane were unavailable (injury etc) then Berahino could replace him.
Who?Perhaps the wrong thread, but is there no hope for Lamela?
Couldn't he fit to the side of Kane, with Chadli on the other side?Berahino will be a cracking signing for Spurs if they can find a big enough role for him. He is a player I really like and would love for us to go for him.
But where does he fit at Spurs? He's too good to sit on the bench week in and week out but I fear that's what would happen!

I suppose that's football these days - you need more of a squad and competition for placesAnd so what about N'Jie? He could rotate in and out I guess... But he needs regular football.
Of course I'm being hypocritical because I'm saying I'd love united to sign him and he'd be a great back up / long term replacement for Rooney.
What I'm saying really is if anyone is not going to give him enough minutes it should be us!
Would rather Austin

Apparently he's been asking for insane wages which is putting people off, especially for the type of clubs who could give him decent minutes.I'm really surprised no one has gone in for Austin this summer. There's something to be said for a player who knows how to score in the Premier League, especially one who didn't exactly play in a stellar side last season.

I like him as a player and think he'd be a great option (He's better than Ings) but i don't think i could justify paying 15m on a striker that would be back-up rather than first choice. Plus coupled into the fact that he's 26 already makes me think that the only type of clubs that will be interested are going to be those such as Sunderland and he'll follow a career path similarly to Steven Fletcher which would be a shame.

Chicharito?
His finishing is over-rated though and isn't as good as was led to believe in his first season at United. Berahino is an excellent finisher, he has a great knack of hitting the corner of the net - Lukaku is the same.
It's quite incredible how many shots he bends into the corner of the net but he's also capable of poachers goals.
Not in the West Brom squad, and not injured probably means he be playing (sitting on the bench) for Spurs next week.
Looks like he's going ... somewhere
Hacks will link him to us but according to the boss we don't need a striker
Sorry but he's nowhere near good enough. His attitude stinks also, didn't he get done for drink driving? Not the type the club wants IMO.Hope we're in for him but it only looks like Spurs are. Can't even remember seeing him linked to us.

Replacement for Harry Kane?
Maybe he's not so daft after all !He made a bad mistake with the drink driving incident, but I've seen or read nothing else that is indicative of a poor attitude.
He even ditched Aidy Ward, the agent who created such a stink around Sterling's exit from Liverpool.
