I like him. He's the sort of Premier League proven striker we might take a gamble on. He has the potential, finishing ability and speed to get in behind defences. A Saha type purchase, possibly.

I think he's quite good actually, would have no problem with us paying 20-25m for someone like him.

I do really like him. Quick, versatile(ish) and a very good finisher.

Spurs would be a brilliant move for him though

Spurs will be quite exciting to watch next season with a potential strike force of Berahino & Kane.

Defense looking more solid now too, just need to sort out their midfield and they're good to go.

Not surprised. Don't think he's the sort of forward we really need right now.

From what I've seen from him he's a good finisher, very quick and can play out wide too. I think he'd be a better fit right now than Kane.

Its Spurs..results will go awry, ,they'll fire Pochetino and hire a manager with a completely different philosophy and start over again..its what they always do..

how on earth do you come to that conclusion? Freaking Peter crouch would be a improvement on what we have now.

Berahino is fast, makes good runs and is a good finisher. He's not the best we could get but he's a massive improvement on what we have now. At this point I'd welcome him here.

If Berahino signs for Spurs in the next few days, why next season rather than this?

I still think there's a good chance United will go for him. Your options are very limited now, time is short and - with money to burn - LvG would be an idiot to stick with what you have.

Berahino will be a cracking signing for Spurs if they can find a big enough role for him. He is a player I really like and would love for us to go for him.

But where does he fit at Spurs? He's too good to sit on the bench week in and week out but I fear that's what would happen!
Left wing obviously in the 4-3-3

Him being left out the quad suggests he's close to leaving, we'd have probably heard news if we were interested at this stage. Think it's clear he's off to Spurs.

Kane has the presence up top that we lack. Brings others into play very well and can take on the entire defence on his own. Berahino's good but he can't do any of that and that's what our strikers spend most of their time doing.

He's going to Spurs because at this stage of his career he knows he needs games. Nothing we can do about that really.

Certainly looks like he's off to Spurs. They need the fire power on the evidence of this season so far and they've been linked to him all summer. If United were to pull this one off out of the bag then they've really kept it on the low.

We need someone to lead the line and that's not his strength. That's why Kane would be comfortably a better fit.

Drama much?

I've already said I really like him and would love to take him. Just that I don't think he's the sort of striker we're really in need of. As above, we need someone to lead the line.

Well, apparently a WBA forum reckon there's a deal for £18m + Evans. And for what it's worth (and I've no idea what it's worth) from wbaunofficial.org.uk:

"The Berahino done deal to Man Utd apparently. In the corporate whoredome at the Hawthorns and that is the word on the prawn sandwich street"

I'd be pretty happy with Berahino. Young, English, quick and, most importantly considering our other 'targets', available for a fairly reasonable fee.

This season, excuse me. It's only just started so my head is still in Summer mode.

I generally find it hard to accept the season has actually started until the windows over.

From someone on a Baggies forum:

"Ive no doubt in my mind that a deal has been agreed somewhere and he is off.

Im hoping a deal to Utd is done rather than Spurs personally. Think he would excel at Old Trafford, if he doesnt go there now though expect him to be bought by them for twice the price off Spurs in 2-3 years time"

Sounds like something we'd do.

We can't possibly be signing him after what Van Gaal reportedly said about only signing one of the best in the world. We'd look even more incapable and disorganised than we do already.

Same goes for Mane then, if he wanst the best striker, cant imagine he would be happy with Mane on the wing.

We said that about signing a defender, after the Ramos debacle....

we cant really avoid signing players scared of what the media would say...we are damned if we do, damned if we dont

if we sign him, they'll mock us for not being able to attract top talent..

Yet last season when we signed Falcao they cried about us losing our British core and identity..cant please those idiots

My point is, Berahino is nowhere near being one of the best in the world. If anyone, especially potential targets, is to believe and put any stock in anything Van Gaal says, then we cannot possibly buy him because he is not, so if we do buy him, Van Gaal looks madder than the march hare he already looks like.

Strange attitude from LvG ... and a mistake IMO. It's a long old season. Aren't United fans worried that 2 goals in 3 league games so far (2 of games these at home) might be a sign of things to come?

Judging by the performance vs Newcastle, I'm not too worried. We created a lot. We were just VERY watseful as opposed to the previous two games.
We do however need another goalscorer and another wide player, if we want to be serious about winning the league.

Fazio from Spurs was said to be close to going the other way last week but apparently that has stalled. If West Brom want a centre half as part of any deal, I'd happily give them Evans. He was linked with them in one of the papers yesterday.

Realistically however, I expect Berahino to join Spurs this week.

Or that Kane's zero goals is also a sign of things to come.

Don't get me wrong forumites - I'd love to see Berahino at United. He's the sort of young English talent that could spark our season and do well for us for years to come. I would prefer him to Kane to be honest.

If that's true, Pulis will be well on his way to being able to field a team made up entirely of centrebacks. They've already got Chester, Dawson, McAuley, Lescott, Olsson. Innovative 6 man defense coming?

I don't get why fans are so bothered about how Van Gaal looks after comments he's made? Bloke talks shite as do all managers, nothing to get all precious about.
Be very happy to see Berahino at United myself, think hed compliment the team very well. Not the best striker in the world but would be a good fit & could very well excell. Fee wouldnt be a major issue & would have a decent resale even if it didn't work out.
But I expect spuds will have a deal agreed very soon!

Are we or were we linked to Berahino anywhere? I would love him here but don't saw anything that would suggest that we are even after him.
