I think he'd have to force the move to get it through. Assuming the interest is real of course. I actually suspect it is.

Should have kept Welbeck, who can offer more from the wing. *sigh*

So Koeman again stated after the game that he isn't for sale and that they won't be selling anymore players in this window.

You've got to admire their will and the fact that they will dig their heels in. But if united can't turn Manes head then we really aren't the force we once used to be.

It's a process.

We can turn his head as much as we want... if Southampton won't accept our offers then we won't get anyway regardless.

We are becoming a laughing stock.
not really.

Mane has sent many fullbacks in the prem packing. he's just inconsistent but he's young and has lighting pace, not weak either. He has the pace we need in our attack.

pedro would of been a short term solution, rvp esqe.

pr banter aside. it isn't a stupid move.

I still don't believe this Mane rumors. It is clear the news are leaked from our side but i don't think we are seriously after him, i think we do it just to occupy press so we can chase our real targets under the radar, we really don't want our transfers to be public and another "saga" like Pedro as we saw with all our transfer targets.

Mane is just not good enough, he is just too inconsistent and his decision making in final third is not good enough, especially not for LVG liking, ofcourse if we buy him i will support him and believe in him but for now, till he is not our player.

He has everything in his locker to be a decent to good player though. He's still raw to be consistent enough but that doesn't mean he's not going to be good enough. I think he brings pace and directness which we direly need in our team. Of course, I don't think he's Robben-esque player but he is much more of a difference maker than set of Chelsea wing forwards (bar Hazard) because of his directness, which we need from our front four.

This is really not the right word to describe Mane. He is WC when things goes his way but more often he is just frustrating. That i can say about him watching him in a few matches.

Haven't made my mind up on him yet.

But thinking, would Chelsea, City, Arsenal, Bayern, Real or Barca buy him?

Edit: that's not to say we should only buy players they do and not think differently, but just out of curiosity.

Unfortunately, every time I have seen Southampton he has looked great. He doesn't have a great end product but he's not a one trick pony which I really like. I think consistency can be improved with better players around him and better maturity. If he follows the philosophy, LvG can improve him greatly.

Watched him a few times. Plenty of talent, quick etc. but not yet good enough and would be a bit maddening I think.

For example, in last night's game, he was definitely Soton's biggest attacking threat, but many times he miscontrolled the ball and had to use his pace to keep it, and once near the end of the game he failed to control a simple pass and it went out of the play when they needed another goal. Ugh.

What I do like about him is his pace and directness - he's always looking to trouble the keeper.

But World Class he ain't, even at his best - World Class is when a player like that grows up and stops wasting possession.

Hes a menace, very good ball carrier, gets into very good situations and draws lots of foul

But his end product is very average, if he sorted that out he would be a top player.

Not a bad player, but we could have kept Nani and got the same output without having to spend millions.

I still do not understand why we let Nani go for such small money. And now we are craving for pace and creativity.
He is not much older than Pedro and showed last season that he can still deliver.

10 goals + 3 assists for Southampton in 24 starts in his first season isn't bad.

I don't think he'll come anyway. Sort of player who I don't think would make the step up to a bigger club.

It was clearly not working out for him here anymore, there's no point holding on to such players. He thrived in another environment, that's probably the best evidence that it was a good decision to let him go

At what point can I interject with my "if you love Southampton football club so much why don't you buy it, oh you are!" comment? ;) The receiver becomes the giver, and all that. Seriously though, you've taken the decent talent from Southampton. Why go back for the not so decent ones now? :wenger:

Because his career here had run it's course and nobody stepped up to offer more money despite it being well known he was for sale.

I really hope this transfer breaks down.

He simply isn't good enough for a side competing for the title. I honestly can't believe we've stooped this low. It's not as if we're strapped for cash... besides, Southampton will end up scamming us for £30+ million if it does actually go though; that's how naive we are when it comes to certain transfers.

Get him and Barahino = the new Cole and Yorke. Is this racist? I didn't mean to be, they just seem like energetic predator-like attackers similar to what i remember our duo to be.

This potential transfer is about as exciting as a boil on your bellend.

Give it a rest mate, i know how sad you might be feeling and sometimes even i get a bit pissed. But you are going overboard in criticizing each and everything about United. I am a bit worried about LVG but i surely support him to the hilt and i hope he knows what he is doing.

From your posts, it looks like you want him and United to fail miserably so that you can shout "i informed you thusly" from the top of your voice.

I think he should respect the club who gave him a chance and stick with him. I would be proud of him if he stayed, and would literally beg him to stay there. And Ronald Koeman should now take a strong and firm stand on not letting any more of the players go. Every season so many of the players leave him and he has to do all over again.

almost all post-Xmas. Took him a while to get going / adjust.

Most of his goals are from defender cock ups and are no more than 8 yards out. Not going to see many goals like the one Depay scored or crosses like for Fellaini the other night.

Has has good instincts, which is why he gets into so many the goal scoring opportunities, but technically hes not that great. He would be a very good squad player for 12-15m mainly brought on when the opposition is tiring. But for what Southampton would want, it will be in excess of 25m and there are better alternatives when you enter that territory
