Mané vs Chelsea last season. Can understand more why John Terry put him in his PFA team of the year.

Looks explosive at the very least which is definitely one thing we need.

For those saying that Southampton wont sell this late, at the end of the day United can offer money Southampton would find very very difficult to refuse. If we want really this chap we'll get him imo. Depends on whether were willing to pay up.

I like the guy, and would be one of the few on here happy with him
Coming , but the transfer fee that Saints will want will surely be way over what we would want to pay. They don't want to sell and don't need the money, plus it's very late in the window for them to find a replacement. We would probably be looking at 25m, which I can't see us paying, considering we didn't want to pay 22m for Pedro.

So, the idea is we set our team up like a Fifa Ultimate Team, accrue players with pace and acceleration in excess of 93.
Works for me on FIFA so yeah why not... Only kidding of course. At the end of the day if LVG wants him then I'm sure he's done his research. I mean we didn't sign a CB based on a few world cup games?

Tell you what - Bale, Muller, etc I can understand. Ramos - was always gunning for a new contract. Even losing out to Chelsea for Pedro or City for Otamendi is no shame. But if we can't even land a Soton player with all our resources and pull then Woody is gonna look like a right tool.

Surely we will though.

Since when did that matter in football? We're one of the top three richest clubs in the world, they are Southampton the biggest selling club going. Do you think Real would fail to buy a player from a mid-table Spanish club if they wanted him?

Manchester United has a much higher standard than "not bad".

Okay then, I think he is a "good" footballer. Is that better?

Ive always thought, there are a number of players who never get much credit because they dont play for a big team. Put it this way, that same exact perfomance, if Mane is wearing a City or Arsenal shirt, would result in a wankfest.

I agree tbh

I don't get all the negativity if we do actually get him. He clearly is talented. My only gripe with it is that he'll be someone that needs to be moulded a lot and that he's basically an inferior nani, someone van Gaal discarded who I thought we should have kept. Also the fact that when you hear Southampton, next stop being anfield is what comes to mind. I'd have laughed had pool been the club linked though, All quite weird.

Hes not for sale

It's been reported that they'd consider offers of around £25m. It makes sense for us to bid £15m, increase to £20m and maybe even meet their requested offer.

If we're really desperate, then we could throw between £27-30m at them, and there's no way they'd refuse.

Not really, it depends on how highly we value him, he might be a player LvG thinks can add to the squad but not to the point of paying huge money for him, thus if Southampton want a ridiculous fee like £25M for a player with 1 PL season under his belt, we should rightly walk away.

Problem is we seem to have reached a point of offering what we feel is reasonable but not what the players club values the player at.

Nothing wrong with that unless you actually want to sign players at this point.

Managers will say that... I'd expect nothing less really. Though having said that I don't think we will get him. We won't offer the big money that'll tempt them and Southampton have shown before they can dig their heels in.

They've only mentioned his potential transfer to United 12 times in the first four minutes of this game. It's off.

First 10 minutes and he has got in behind twice, he may or may not be good enough for us but he is exactly the type we need

Not a bad player, but we could have kept Nani and got the same output without having to spend millions.

Very suprised if this is a goer. Decent player, and worth a punt..... At 12 million. Not for what Southampton would probay want.
He is good technical and physical attributes, but isn't as tactically sound as what I believe Gaal demands.

Definitely the kind of player that we need. He has pace to burn that will terrify opponents! Come on Woodward get this one done please please please.

If Southampton progress he becomes cup-tied in the Champions League, good negotiating tool :D

Sorry if its already been mentioned, can't bring myself to look through all the pages!

Until January?? Otherwise this is a new rule to me...

Just thought about this... I seem to remember a certain man from Villa this summer announcing he was definitely staying. Promising the fans he was ready to lead the team in to the new season... And then what happened!

Yeah and it will be as underwhelming as the Delph signing for us
