Most of his goals are from defender cock ups and are no more than 8 yards out. Not going to see many goals like the one Depay scored or crosses like for Fellaini the other night.

Has has good instincts, which is why he gets into so many the goal scoring opportunities, but technically hes not that great. He would be a very good squad player for 12-15m mainly brought on when the opposition is tiring. But for what Southampton would want, it will be in excess of 25m and there are better alternatives when you enter that territory
Technically he is very good and in terms of skill he is also very good. Not sure what you have been watching.

No hes not, he is fast, but does not make him "technically very good", if you took away his speed, he would be a nothing player.

At what point can I interject with my "if you love Southampton football club so much why don't you buy it, oh you are!" comment? ;) The receiver becomes the giver, and all that. Seriously though, you've taken the decent talent from Southampton. Why go back for the not so decent ones now? :wenger:
True! We should leave that bit to Rodgers ;)

You should take another look. Again not sure what you have been watching or how much of him you have actually seen. This being touches from just one game and not a compilation its clear to see he is technically very good and his skill level is also very good. Much more to him than being quick. Actually with respect to being quick he is also able to control the ball at pace and under pressure very well.

Hes probably the same level as Welbeck in terms of technically ability, Welbeck probably a little bit better. I don't see why we would bring in a player of the same quality when we already had one here. Though i guess Mane does have better instincts than Welbeck.

You have no idea what you are talking about tbh. Have you watched him a lot? I have. He is quite a bit better than Welbeck technically.

Ha!, I wanted to say that but decided not to because I expected all the Welbeck fans to shout me down. Im with you, he is technically better and more skilful than Welbeck. At least Im not alone in thinking that.

Why make a statement before a question :wenger:

Good for you, watching a lot of him, so i have. And both are average technically, i would not class either as very good

10 goals and 3 assists in his first PL season at the age of 22-23. Not bad, he'll be a good player in a few years I reckon, a player that can help secure top 4 but won't win you a CL with a moment of brilliance.

We already have enough to secure Top 4, this lad won't push us on to the next level. That is not what we need.

Have you found your own Dutch Rodgers? ;)

Edit: in the 21st Century. Sorry couldn't resist. :)
Nope! Unfortunately the one we found does not read out players' mum's letters on the eve of matches. The cheek of the fecker to not do that! :p

City get Sterling and De Bruyne, Chelsea get Pedro...United get Mane. Spot the odd one out.

Btw, loving the posters trying to convince everyone (and themselves) that this would be a good signing. It's quite sweet. The kind of thing that would be quoted in the RAWK thread and ridiculed meticulously.

Potential he's got potential.:nervous::angel:

The one with the highest goals per games ratio last season is the odd one out?

Signing Memphis is old news already I see.

We don't have Mane, though. City don't have De Bruyne, too.

He's not technically better than Welbeck, probably pretty close between them actually. That makes me feel a bit better actually - not as strong in the air but doesn't shit himself in front of goal so maybe he'd do OK for us as we've missed some of the things Welbeck gave at times.

We signed, Morgan Schneiderlin best CDM in the league, BFS who is an amazing midfield general and of course the best young winger in Europe in Memphis. Of course we also added an Italian international RB. Chelsea may have got Pedro but lets see how he fits in also KDB may not adjust to the EPL but he is a great signing if its happens. Window isn't closed yet and theres still Muller and Bale and of course Greizmann.

On Mane I think he could become a great squad player but hes not going to make us become Champions.

Exactly we can't keep popping into Aldi to do our shopping.

The Welbeck comparison is absolutely pointless because he's not here anymore. Compare him with someone already at the club or someone who we could get instead.

Hernandez always comfortably has that and even had the best goals to games ratio in premier league history in his first 2 seasons. Yet barely anyone thinks he is good enough and would sell him right now given the chance.

Certainly not a reason to sign Mane. Im playing Devils Advocate as I like the player. Im just saying.

What are you, the comparison police?

I really don't know why we should sign him, I just don't think he will be ever good enough for a club like us.

He has his good days here and there and of course he is fast. But he is also frustrating, can be really ineffective and is really not what I would call an intelligent footballer. He will frustrate us like Nani, but without the huge potential that Nani had some years ago. I don't know how someone like him would be a good fit for van Gaal, I know he has players who got some extras and are allowed to do some freestyle shit, but that's usually (potentially) word class players and not Mane. He is also a big troublemaker, often arrives late to training sessions or misses a team meeting here and there. At Salzburg you heard a lot of that, especially in his last season, he just went missing in the trainingbefore the important CL tie and then still wanted to play the match, but was kicked out of the squad of course. When he arrived at Southampton it didn't take long to hear similiar stuff before their game against Pool. So it wouldn't even shock me if van Gaal kicks his ass out after a year. I just don't think he is worth the trouble or the potential fee, it would be something else if we could get him on the cheap and it would be worth a try, but Southampton will make us pay a good fee so late in the window.

I don't see why he couldn't?

To be fair if LVG doesn't think he can control Mane then he wouldn't sign him. LVG is one of the strictest managers around who only demands the best.

So you're back, being negative over something which still hasn't happen.

So city sign KDB, seems like a really good signing but wait... What's that? He didn't work in the Premier League last time? So what's to say it'll work out for him this time? Mane would be a quality signing. Would he be enough? No he wouldn't be but we need more than just one player I think.

Ah, the insatiable appetite of the muppet! How many players would be enough, perhaps if we bought a new 25 man squad every year?

Did I say that? Nope! I think we need two. I think we need an out and out striker and we need a pacey winger who can go past people.

We have brought in 5 players this summer... One a goalkeeper, one a defender and two you could argue are more defensive midfielders. Yet Falcao and ADM have both left. Ignore that they didn't make a positive impact up front. We were short in an attacking sense last year and we still are now.

So as pacy wingers we have: Memphis, Januzaj, Young, Lingard, Pereira, (Valencia)
Why do we need another? I won't deny if Messi, Hazard, Bale, Neymar etc are available we should be in for them but need is a bit of a stretch surely.

That's exactly how I feel about it.

It's better than not signing anyone so there's that positive. Plus, sometimes these signings work out better than expected. Valencia is a good example of an unglamorous signing that worked out very well.
