Ryan Shawcross back at United?

Shawcross is a run-of-the-mill 'hoof-it' defender.

There's a reason we got rid of him. Good player for Stoke City... But for Manchester United? Not good enough.

Where would he come in in this pecking order?

Vidic
Ferdinand
Evans
Brown
O Shea
Cathcart
Neville

I was gonna ask why is there no Smalling on your list and then I looked at your post and it dated back in August. So if he add Smalling to that behind Rio, I think it ll be Vidic, Rio, Smalling, Shawcross, Brown, Evans, Cathcart, O'Shea, Neville.

Cathcart plays for Blackpool now.

no thanks, he is no better than Evans....

Right now he is. I think he goes in stronger than Evans and he is not scared to tackle. Evans seems a little scared to tackle players especially in the box. Shawcross is better at heading the ball than Evans is.

On form Johnny's a much better all round defender shawcross can be a little rash, plus evans is havign a fecking nitemare few months. If ya think evans doesnt go in hard enough I think ya should look back to that Chelsea game where he marked Drogba

I would'nt call him dirty, a very tough tackler certainly but dirty I dont really think so

I do.

I used to rate him but he hasn't got any better in the last few years.

Everytime everyone keeps referring back to the fecking Chelsea game. What has he done after that? Is doing good in a few games enough? I know he was good for us like over a year ago but I have not seen anything to suggest he is going to take over the reigns from Rio. That is almost 12 months he is suffering from a so called 'blip'. Everyone considers him world class here. I have not seen world class players to be in a 'blip' for this long.

He chose to leave for more 1st team chances and who can blame him but Pulis has turned what was a promising defender in the Utd mould into a dirty bastard. He now looks to take a player out more than using his brain.

No thanks! There's better out there

I don't think anyone here has said he's "World Class". Also, he did much more than just "doing good in a few games".

Yeah sorry went a little overboard there. It just pisses me off when people keep referring back to a good game he had almost a year and a half ago. They don't admit he has sucked for us for the past 12 months and try and keep supporting him. I m not scared to express my feelings about any player who has performed badly for us in a game.

He hasn't sucked for 12 months though and was really important for us through the majority of last season, especially with Rio's injuries.

You should eat more fish. Your memory is appalling.

In fairness it's just more of what we had to hear about Rooney even prior to the furore about his transfer. 'He's been shit eight months' was a familiar statement even though he played feck all games in that time and of those he did play he was patently unfit for quite a few of them.

please god no, he's a f*ckin mentalcase

the only reason to sign him would be to save our players being victim to one of his tackles

though there would still be training games i suppose

Juventus ready to rival Man United for £20m Stoke star

Juventus are prepared to offer a £20million package to sign Stoke City defender Ryan Shawcross, according to reports from SKY Italy.

Shawcross is out of contract in June 2014 and is also wanted by Wolfsburg, Liverpool and Manchester United.

Juventus, according to the Italian station, are offering a player-plus-cash deal, whereas they report United are prepared to do a straight £17million deal.

Since when the feck is he worth £17 million?

If we bid that much for him then I'd lose all confidence in SAF.

It won't happen though.

Not content with stealing Carrick's face, Evans has now decided to thieve his myth. Jonny had an iffy return from injury in the new year, disappeared for a bit, and then came back in for a few of the last games of the season and was excellent.

jamie carragher has made a good career out of that type of playing, and he has a champions league medal.

shawcross is a decent player and would be good back up. He is not worth 17 million and I doubt he would come backto sit on the bench.

Despite recent appearances to the contrary, we have the best young, British centre-half at the club already. Shawcross could conceivably end up being fifth choice here, unless someone is off.

Shawcross isnt any better than Evans..besides you could count on one finger how many times Fergie has brought a player back.

Depends what Evans are you referring to ....the one before he signed the new contract or the other?
