Hard to imagine him back here, hasn't really developed over the last few seasons, still a liability with the ball at his feet and always feels like he's more interested in fouling opposition forwards than winning the ball.

Tbh he is better than any of our current CB's (obv excluding Rojo & possibly Blind if he ever plays there).

Evans has had much, much more than a couple of bad games. He has regressed quite a lot. He's really not all that good. Jones and Smalling have more potential, but I'd still rank Shawcross as a better defender currently than all 3.
Jesus the self-esteem on Redcafe has taken a nosedive, no you should not sign Ryan bloody Shawcross.
No he isn't, he's barely better than Keane and Blackett, never mind the other three.
In terms of ability on the ball he makes Chris Smalling look like Beckenbauer.
Evans, Jones & Smalling have been shocking for over 12 months. This isn't me saying Shawcross is United quality or that what we have doesn't have more potential but recently he has been a superior player in the Premier League than any of them. Keane is overrated too, nowhere near good enough.
Yeah, I'm not saying Keane is any good, I don't particularly rate him or Blackett, I just don't rate Shawcross at all either. Smalling is decent when played CB, Jones has looked good so far this season and Evans is usually solid too. Woodward should either buy a top quality one that can lead the defence and the others can learn from or don't buy one at all, IMO.
They've been shit for all of this season and all of last.
Yeah and Evra was not much worse than Baines and Rafael is as good as Coleman....God if any of these mis-placed united views were accruate we wouldnt be complete garbage at the back and have been since Fergie left.
Jones is 22! Once he gains some maturity, which will come with more playing time, he will be an absolute monster.
How often were either Jones or Smalling given a proper run of games at CB last season? Or at any stage during their United careers?

They haven't had plenty of chances at CB. Jones especially hasn't. Doubt he has played more than 15 games there for us before this season.
LVG was content to judge the squad over a handful of competitive games. Thats modern football. Some players who have performed better i.e. Welbeck, are rumoured to be out the door....City doing the same with nastasic who has been better than Jones and Smalling....thats what being at a top club is like.

Not true. Largely due to the fact that Nastasic was injured for most of last season, but in general it's just not true.
Jones has probably been our best player so far this season.
