Ryan Giggs | United confirm he's left

Wouldn't really say its him making a smart decision. Think he is lacking options

Clubs don't hire pundits because they are impressed with their TV work. It happened for Neville because he was friends with the Valencia owner
Yeah, it was quite obvious that he didn't have good enough offers, but the part about pundits not being involved in coaching is untrue. As soon as Curbishly started his punditry for the Asian network after being out of work for like a year or so, Fulham came in and offered him a job. Of course. It's different to Giggs's situation, but doesn't make it less feasible.

I have no idea what Curbishly has been up too but did the Fulham job come after he got sacked from England? If so, then I would think he got the job on previous experience and not for what he did for Asian Network
It happened in the last Premier League campaign Fulham were in. He was pretty much a forgotten man until he became a pundit, so it can have certain advantages.
He's probably not gotten any offers, so maybe this is him trying to impress some clubs or maybe he really does see punditry as his new line of work. Either ways, I hope he does well.

I thought his contract ended in 2017.

Yes. His contract ends next year. Not sure why the MEN keep insisting its tomorrow 30 June. The Times say its ends 2017

Every other backroom staff of LvG had a 3yr contract so it would be strange if one for Giggs was 2 yrs

I can only assume that he hasn't managed to find another job yet. If he were staying we would have heard about it by now surely.

Job for life is real.

The thing with the whole…..what does he do…….does he have a say….is he implicated……etc etc. The truth is we don’t have any idea as to his input. However, generally speaking most have a negative opinion of his contribution. Based on nothing but a hunch. If we look at our previous assisstants…….

Brian Kidd…….the majority of fans had the very same hunch that he was a great coach…….landed the Blackburn job.

Steve McLaren….…….the majority of fans had the very same hunch that he was a great coach…….landed the Middlesbrough job.

Carlos Quiroz….…….the majority of fans had the very same hunch that he was a great coach…….landed the Real Madrid job.

Mike Phelan….…….the majority of fans had the very same hunch that he was simply a yes man that wore shorts and moukdies on the side line…….over looked by Norwich in favour of a 33 year old and helping out at Hull.

Of course they all failed as managers but they had something about them that got them the opportunity. Giggsy seemingly doesn’t. either through the eyes of the mans or other clubs, he’s got no chance of being offered a Premier League job, never mind Real Madrid.

I think that’s says everything about the quality of his contribution…..or lack of it.

I think June 30th is being implied as some kind of deadline as Jose will officially take over July 1st and physically be in position from July 4th. The club, Jose and Giggsy will want to avoid the scenario where at the managers first question at his first press conference is “what is ryan giggs role”. Knowing how blunt Jose is and how he likes to make and entrance the clubs PR men wont wanting him opening with “ive let him go, he was a great player but what has he done as a coach? He’s worked under moyes and van gaal in 3 desperately poor years”

Mourinho clearly doesn’t want him around otherwise the club would have made a big thing about Giggsy signing a new contract and he’s “looking forward to working with Jose etc etc” and all the chatter would be put to bed.

What agreement, Ryan?

If that actually was true, and it really is a big if, he's incredibly stupid. In order to follow either of them they had to be a success and they weren't.

The fact that Giggs genuinely thought he could become manager is scary, if that is true then it makes him sound crazy.
After having 2 managers that struggled, what makes Giggs think he could have been the right man for the job? he is so arrogant.

I like Mourinho's approach by keeping him away from the first team, he hasn't shown anything these last couple of years that would indicate he is cut out to be a quality manager.

The fact the club haven't confirmed anything about him being given a first team coaching role makes me think those tweets are fairly accurate.

I may not put faith in these tweets. However, this thing really drags out for too long for people who claim there is no politic at play. If Giggs doesn't try to cling onto some behind the door hope, surely he should have tried to cut loose sooner and job search now in transfer window. Pre season for most club is near, you would want to start soon and have time to work on transfer and team now if you're serious about managing? Why still in this mess with the club where new management team offer no role for you till this moment?

Swear Rhodri has multiple accounts on here.

I reckon he'll be an absolutely shite pundit, so he'll fit in well at ITV. Don't expect he'll ever manage the club but I'm looking forward to following his progress elsewhere.

I don't think it's a crazy thought at all, i genuinely believe that the powers that be wanted giggs to take over after van gaal, and that van gaal was told about this from the beginning. It sucks for giggs that things went as bad as it did, but the club did the right thing by not appointing him and he should accept that.

Not a popular view... but I will miss him not being around the club. First time in my lifetime that it will be a Giggs free United

He can take one of one ambassador role. No one would get in his way that way. Thing is he seems to be interested in the management role, but Mourinho doesn't see him fit for the role.

Academy job may also be available too.

Time to rid this bizarre mentality within Old Trafford me thinks.

Ryan Giggs is a comical choice for manager and even he should have enough self awareness to know that. I assume this is just to save face and a minor political move by him to suggest this. Otherwise he really is as thick as he sounds.

Even more scary if somebody at the club was giving him assurances of the managers job. Seemingly we have started to rectify the levels of incompetence we were showing at least
to be fair that's how it was pitched at the time, even LVG in his first year was saying in public Giggs is the man to take over from him. They wouldn't have said things like that if the people upstairs were not onboard with that. If LVG finished his 3 years a relative success it likely would have been Giggs

Lvg is retiring though! Whatever floats giggs and Co boats he must have thought, I'd be ridding away to the sunset anyway.

I would say anything to make my assistant happy in his position.. Not that it matters anyway

I wish him well in his future challenges. I think he will make a top manager one day, and just because we are parting now after so many years doesn't mean goodbye is forever.

I'm excited to see him as a pundit, you know if he's really good people will be complaining we let the next Pep go etc !!:lol::lol:

He probably deserves a break, he's been involved in football since he was 16 years of age. Just enjoy cosying up on the Match of the Day or Sky chairs and speaking about football for awhile. A pundit is a great cushy gig as you have lots of free time.. for him to start shagging around with some young models I presume !

Giggs should take the job offered and prove himself as a manager of the reserves/under 21's. Its a great opportunity for him.

I mean they wouldn't have had permission to say stuff like that publicly if it wasn't understood in the boardroom

If he actually thought he was going to be our manager after what happened with Moyes and LVG, he is deluded.
