Ruud van Nistelrooy | Leaves United

Hopefully it’s just for the Leicester and Chelsea games. I think we’ll see an upturn in performance simply because it isn’t ETH, wouldn’t want to leave it any longer than that though.
Hopefully something is in place for the next international break.

As the other thread was locked what was his PSV stint like? One season, won the cup but resigned due to lack of support?

I also wonder, will you now dump all Dutch/ Eredivisie players and start over? I think it's probably best to do just that and then let the DoF decide the transfer strategy instead of yet another new manager.
When LVG left Barca, that’s pretty much what happened. Within a season or two I’d be surprised if any are still here. I definitely don’t see any starting that’s for sure.

Anyone knows what's Ruud style of play? Hopefully, attacking football?
Being a clinical ST, you’d imagine he loves his teams to score goals and attack. Only issue is these players aren’t suddenly going to get their scoring boots on. We need a style that can get us into better scoring opportunities

Please give Keane an assistant role for however long Ruud’s manager too. I just want him to go in there and tell the players what’s what.

Agree but the problem is his ego won’t agree to the assistant manager role.

Name it something else then - “Head of Standards and Motivation”.

Or "Post match greeter"

Players might buck up if they were having to face him after a game, where they lost and played shite.

So, instead of getting a proper manager after the final, we keep ten Hag, sack him for doing the same thing that made us keep him, and replace him with Ruud who most likely won't be as good as the alternatives we could've got?

Makes no sense to me.

Top 4 looks far away this season, personally I'd leave RVN in charge for the rest of the season, there should be more manager options in the summer give the new manager a level playing field instead of starting 14th, a few poor results the manager could be under real pressure otherwise.

Id give it about 2-3 games before the players give up under him. So we need a full time manager asap.

We are 7 and 6 points away from Top 4 and 5 respectively. Most importantly, we need to win EL to qualify for next year CL. We need a proper competent manager to achieve that.

I was doing some research on his 22/23 PSV season just yesterday evening. Ineos are spying on me.

No one would have wanted Van Nistelrooy in charge before he came as coach. Let's hope it really is just interim and not just the cheapest way of a change.

I'd love to see that in a Netflix documentary, Keane just going in on every single player one at a time telling them that they're all embarrassments. Apparently Ruud wasn't scared of upsetting players during his previous stints either, so by the end of it we'd either have a squad of hardened monsters or no squad at all, so an improvement either way.

I hope they don't feel the urge to remove the interim tag if he has a couple of good results

Carrick had a successful short stint so it can get be done. I know he can't really implement much in this short amount of time but I would hope we see him go away from ETH's tactics and try and bring some of his own ideas plus what he learned under SAF.

He mentioned Pellegrini as one of his biggest influences.

Hope we can at least get some manner of a new manager bounce before the next permanent appointment.

Happy for RVN, even if it’s only a temporary appointment.

There aren't many good out of work managers, who would be happy to join for 7 month. And we certainly shouldn't pick a second choice manager for the long term, just to improve our chances for this season alone.

Interesting to see does he set us up differently next few games then we know he didn't agree with Ten Hag's poxy tactics

The Daily Mail straight in there with the anti-Van Nistelrooy articles

FFS  .They couldn't even give it a few hours! You know what? I actually respect the hustle. They are after those engagements and hate clicks are still clicks when it comes to selling advertising. Don't hate the player, right?

My own response? RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUD. The amount of love I have for Van Nistlerooy is actually mad. I'm going to find a way to way Ruud Van Nistlerooy all the goals this week, just cos...

Like the army - “Just quit then”. I hope Ruud uses these weeks to do what he wants. I really think Ole was on his way to great things until he folded to Ronaldo coming back when he truly wanted a midfielder, that will be a regret of his. People who come to Old Trafford and play the game get mullered.
