Ruud van Nistelrooy | Leaves United

I'm very happy this morning. Couldn't care less who is interim but it will be nice watching Ruud at the touchline.

Not sure Ruud is the one we need in the future but I'm certainly excited for the next few games again. I came to the point of hating watching games and almost predicting what the post match review would be.

Hopes he gets that nice new manager bounce for a while. Other than that I'm not sure Ruud is head coach material. In The Netherlands his PSV didn't really have any discernable style of play and it was mostly, let Xavi Simons have the ball and hope for the best (which isn't a bad strategy in our league I guess). Similarly to Van Persie, a lot of these amazing players seem to fall into the trap of not realizing that most players can't replicate what they could do. Of course at United the gap in skill is a bit smaller than at PSV (let alone at Heerenveen, poor Robin), but I dunno.

I also wonder, will you now dump all Dutch/ Eredivisie players and start over? I think it's probably best to do just that and then let the DoF decide the transfer strategy instead of yet another new manager.

While ETH obviously had to go and I think there's barely any relevant managers that would do a worse job, I have to admit I'm worried about Ruud.

If it's just a couple of games before we then bring in a permanent manager or a more experienced interim until the end of the season, that's fine and in fact I'll love it being Ruud. If the plan is for him to take us until the end of the season himself, that's a risk and I doubt he'll be the best option for that role (although I'd love it if he proved me wrong).

Good luck Ruud, I'm sure the players and fans will back you well.

Note that the official phrasing is "interim head coach". Earlier the likes of Rangnick and Carrick have been "interim manager" right? I guess that is a sign that INEOS will indeed be looking to change the role moving forward.

Don't love this decision.

Already feel like Solskjaer's golden legacy has been somewhat tainted by being an underqualified candidate thrown into the Glazer-era United mincer.

Would prefer it if we didn't do the same to all our club legends. Dreading the day I find out Ratcliffe has given Eric some role as face of the official face of the club in some capacity.

Ten Hag is the best thing that could have happened to Ole. His name was mud when he left, but ten Hag has shown that Ole wasn't that bad

Confirmed snake…

It's not like the Dutch / Eredivisie players are just a conglomerate. Some of them obviously need to go (Antony). Some of them will probably be fine, at least for a couple of years while we sort out more important spots (De Ligt for example). Then there are a few others that could go either way.

Anyone knows what's Ruud style of play? Hopefully, attacking football?
There was news about PSV players going behind his back to the club President complaining about his methods.

good luck everyone.

Of course, but the new guy usually wants a clean break and getting rid of all the Dutch guys that the former Dutch manager bought can be a way to do that.

Barca did it when Van Gaal left (I think) and Real also binned Sneijder, Robben and Drenthe (ha) when the guy who bought them left.

The players win again.

feck these players.

Of those that started yesterday, only Bruno, Dalot and Rashford were here pre ten Hag. Amazes me that apparently fans of the club continue to use this criticism of the players.

Make no mistake about it. This is ten Hag's team.

Could be the Ole effect but I'm not convinced by him

I can't believe people still peddle this rubbish.

Firstly, the vast majority of these players are ETH players. Stop pretending that it's the same group of players.
Secondly, it was incredibly obvious last season (this season to a lesser extent) that the individual players won us many more points than what the tactics deserved.

What's more likely? That one person (the manager) isn't good enough, or that the entire squad decided they can't be bothered?

Ten Hag actually won trophies for us, something Ole can only dream of.

And those are players that ETH persisted with a lot. ETH had been given enough time and resources to turn things around.
He failed and we move on.

Don't you understand the power Bruno, Dalot and Rashford have? It is so immense.

Hopefully it’s just for the Leicester and Chelsea games. I think we’ll see an upturn in performance simply because it isn’t ETH, wouldn’t want to leave it any longer than that though.
