Ruud van Nistelrooy | Leaves United

His disagreement with EtH on bench was representing a majority of United fans I feel. Giving EtH a good shake to see a different perspective. Of course we don't know what was said.

Anyone worry Ruud will simply refuse to recognize the decision of Ineos? He's been on social media asking fans to congregate outside the boardroom wearing red devil viking hats and fancy dress.

Is he the handsomest man to take charge post Fergie. Looks dapper on the sidelines.

It's between Giggs, Jose, Carrick and him, and I think he wins it.

you’d come home from a hard day at your menial job. giggs doesn’t look you in the eye, he just asks what’s for tea, any love in his voice long disappeared. you want to leave, every inch of your being yearns for change, but you look at the children and you can’t do it to them.

you arrive home and jose is waiting for you. he tosses a chanel dress at you and tells you to get changed. you appear 20 minutes later, looking passable, he tells you you’re the special one as a stretch limo pulls up. he spends the rest of the evening talking about himself. you arrive back home after dinner, he asks you to lay down on the floor whilst he pulls himself off.

you arrive home to ole and all the housework is done. he asks you what you’d like for tea. you ask him to make a decision. he cannot, he is too keen to please you to risk getting it wrong. that pang of regret returns to your stomach, how you long for a bit of fire, an argument, anything to spice things up. why won’t he just rip your clothes off and roll over you like a steam train? it’s all foot rubs and easing himself in. you’re bored.

you arrive home to carrick and he’s barricaded himself in the study, sinking bottle after bottle of newcastle brown ale and singing songs about keegan and shearer. you ask him if he wants to go out for dinner, but he just grunts that he wants a chippy takeaway.

but ruud, you come home to him and dinner is on the table, he’s lit candles, he’s got the music just right. the food smells divine. he walks in with a plate in each arm, a suave smile painted on his face, he reaches out to place the dish in front of you, when keown appears suddenly and jumps all over him. you’re covered in ragu.

i’d prbably go jose on the balance of play.

2nd game: Chelsea @ home in the PL New
The poor sods been given a thankless task, and he's proud to do it, fair play to the man he's doing it knowing he's probably out of a job next week..

Shades of him taking down the Invincibles who have not won a title since he put United up 1-0 in a fall 2004 game that sent Arsenal 49 and out!!! Rooney also scored his first league goal for the club that day on his 18th birthday.

It was just missing the primal scream!

Ruud is my favourite ever United player. His reign perfectly coincided with my early to mid teenage years when my fandom was at its peak.

Im almost glad he's not getting the job full time because if it went wrong, I would hate to see him criticized.

He looked well in the Gryffindor home kit this evening.

Should've taken off Garnacho instead. Other than that he has done well with what he has. Switched the FBs to the correct positions and Lindelof had a decent cameo at DM.

Take a bow son. Although we know Ruud is winning this.

I don't know, his public declarations about wanting to stay on and the immense good will toward him from the fans, as well as his significant knowledge of the club (and the current group of players) might be hard to dismiss by Amorim. I think he'll be offered a coaching role, but probably not assistant.

Yeah I think it's worked out the best it could for him. He gets a free hit at the United job where any positive results are thanks to him and any negatives are due to the fact his old boss was fecking useless and worst case scenario he gets 2 years pay for 3 months work.

He was never going to get the United job and frankly, romanticism aside, a year of being interim manager would have, by all accounts of his PSV side, done little for his reputation.

Personally, I'm just happy to see him back in a somewhat positive capacity. The manner of his exit and falling out with Fergie left a bit of a cloud.

The way he's been talking about his future with the club leads me to believe it's been communicated to him that he will have a role at least over the next couple of years.

After today I'm glad we don't have him to the end of the season.

He's a legend and it's been nice but I'm not convinced he's cut out to be a top class manager.

I was worried about this too. I give him credit for both results though. I doubt we would have gotten anything today otherwise. If our players were not so mentally drained maybe we would have won on another day.

Hope you’re right, though can’t imagine what type of role if he stays.

Yeah Amorim seems to be insisting on that but we got the GK coach after he had just joined his previous club. So we really pushed for him I'm sure the payoff for him might be significant. Some compromise might be needed on the GK coach front with Amorim.
We have always had at least 2 goal keeper coaches and still do.

Don’t think there was too much that Ruud could have done differently today. His squad pretty much picks the first 11 for him, and he made the subs that made sense from what was available.

He should be able to win the next 2 and hold his head high. A decent interim stint and I hope he is involved with Amorims staff.

I don’t really know what more he could have done today. We had zero options on the bench due to injury

So after taking on a squad he didn't assemble and only having been with the club for some months while being thrown in the deep unexpectedly and only two games (with one an emphatic win even) and that's all the proof you need Ruud cant be a top class manager? This place sometimes ...

Looking forward to your assessment once Amorim is here.

Love Ruud but he seems to be talking a bit too much / big? Keeps talking about staying, getting to know Amorim etc I know he’s passionate about helping us but it feels like a bit much given he may not even be there for long.

I also think him wearing such formal wear was strange. He used to wear a club tracksuit when ten Hag was in charge.

Is he supposed to return to trackie bottoms after going full Bond villain?

Always loved Ruud.
Its a shame that this position is probably 2 or 3 years to early for him to be seriously considered for the job full time.
As much as i want him to stay on in some capacity, its probably better for him to get himself a job as a manager/head coach somewhere in Italy or Germany, build his reputation and then in 3 years time when we may well be on the look out for a new manager again, he is well primed to be a serious candidate.

It felt very LVG era yesterday very structured and safe. But still largely non threating, slow and ponderous.

The main difference seems to be less fluidity particuly in defensive areas. The defenders weren't going of marauding into midfield and were largely staying where you would expect.

Not a fan of players deciding this. It hasn't really worked us so far, has it? Let's give Amorim what he wants without listening of such connector bullshit.

We've been too long too loyal, too melancholic and too rewarding to our former players taking up club roles.

Time to move on as every such club would do. Now or never.

Keep one of them, not both. Fletcher is easier to keep.

Amorim needs to control the narrative early. Hopefully he won't let the opinions of others sway him. What we don't need is things being forced on him.

Things like "we see Rashford as a symbol of the club, the community and our values. We want you to help him find himself"

Amorim should be allowed to choose his staff and be allowed to assess the squad between now and June. No conditions attached.

If Amorim is bringing all his coaches with him , which he is then it is hard to see where Ruud fits in. I think it would be popular with both fans and players to have him stay on but I just don't think it is practical and would be done just for the sake of it rather than any strategic plan.

There is a difference between being a coach and being a manager/head coach. He is probably of the belief that a head coach should present themselves in a certain way (which I tend to agree with). If he stays on as some sort of coach, I'd expect him to return to the tracksuit. I don't see the issue with this.

I think he was auditioning for the role since ten Hag left, to be honest. He wants to present himself in the best way possible.

Most of the time, an interim manager is a member of the coaching staff who has no real intention of managing beyond 2-3 games.

Ruud could have kept is more casual. I get it from his perspective though.

If this is true, would rather he left. Players need to stop getting mollycoddled - a head coach is coming in, you need to listen to him and graft to be in the team. Amorim is the boss, you give your maximum effort for him or you leave. I have no issue if they want involve him in the younger teams (in fact it is a good idea, like how La Liga teams given managers experience with their B teams) but these players need putting in their place.

Giggs, Carrick, Ole and Ragnick all suited up during their interim roles. Nothing more to it other than being the manager at the time.

I’d love to see Ruud stay on but only if Amorim wants him there, I don’t want a situation where’s he’s being forced upon the new manager.

These two are different. They were brought in from the outside. I can understand their POV. They had ambitions of becoming the manager or DOF/manager.

Ruud has given off a real desire to stay on. Carrick seemed to know he wanted to move on right away.

This is a weird line of criticism to me. He has known since he was asked to do this that he wouldn't be the permanent manager. Of course he wants to present himself in the best way possible, he is the prime representative of the club for two weeks. He is representing what he believes to be the values of the club, and dressing as such.

Do you feel he is pressing his claim for the full time job because he is wearing a turtleneck?

I think Ruud should move on really. Getting some decent results with us here would be a nice little boost to his CV. Help him get some respectable management offers in the not too distant future.
