Nope. That didn’t happen.Bar Alonso we're probably getting the best manager we could've hoped for and there are fans moaning we didn't go for Thomas fecking Frank instead. This place man

This is it.
The speed Liverpool and City fans are trying to deny they were ever interested speaks volumes.
As does the lack of memes and suchlike. Other clubs will be slightly worrried. They wanted Potter, Southgate etc.,
Best finish was 6th.
You only play one cup game until he arrives. We should have done this before the last international break and bagged some winnable games.I agree, let's just give up and not try and further lower the standards and culture
And how does your brilliant point apply to the 3 cups?
Why is it petty? You can't just get whoever you want whenever you want. This way Sporting give themselves a window to find their next manager and replace the coaching staff, Amorim gets to say goodbye and help out the club while they work to appoint a successor. He joins you in an international break which gives him a few days for him and his staff to get their feet under the table. You get the guy you want, Sporting are compensated for losing the majority of their coaching set up mid season. Makes perfect sense for all sides, there's nothing petty about doing the best for your club and making the upheaval as smooth as possible.Pure pettiness. We shall not forget this cheap act when we go raiding them in the next few transfer windows.
No matter how much I want him to start yesterday, this deal is very fair. Why is it petty? You can't just get whoever you want whenever you want. Yeah but the players know the manager is leaving. I don’t see how that helps them. They wanted more money and United wouldn’t pay it.They have City and Braga in that timeframe, and it lets them get a new manager on board. Plus we have a solid relationship with them, and will likely be raiding them soon enough for their striker, so lets play nicely.
This will be the narrative anyway sooner rather than later. This is my worry, the narrative will be that he's not fit for purpose if he can't win
It's not like record of football under him gets erased once he leaves. They still need to be professional and club gets more time to prep the replacement.Yeah but the players know the manager is leaving. I don’t see how that helps them. They wanted more money and United wouldn’t pay it.
Not sure where you’re coming from with records being erased as it has nothing to do with what I said. We know it doesn’t take much for footballers to take their eye off the ball. It's not like record of football under him gets erased once he leaves. Going to get slapped silly by City, become shell-shocked and by the time he gets to us he’ll be a husk a his former self
Might be worse if sporting beat city and fans start ramping up expectations.Going to get slapped silly by City, become shell-shocked and by the time he gets to us he’ll be a husk a his former self
He has a pretty good relationship with the players, don’t remember any player having a fallout with him.Haven't been able to find much about what I believe is the most important thing: his man management and player development. Given his record, one assumes he's good at this, but I honestly believe that's the single thing we need more than tactics or systems or what not.
One of the commentators last night joked that United probably need a psychiatrist as well as a manager, and I don't think that's all that wrong.
They will still want to end on a good note and be in decent position when new manager comes in. Obviously it would be better for them if he didn't resign at all, but it takes off a few things that a new guy won't be forced to care about immidiately. Not sure where you’re coming from with records being erased as it has nothing to do with what I said. We know it doesn’t take much for footballers to take their eye off the ball.
Yeah, and the players seem to respond well enough to Ruud, and I am sure he will have us playing less open, Chelsea seem to be going though a wobble so who knows with that one, one thing for certain under ETH I would have zero confidence going into the Chelsea game.United playing three games in ten days would've meant Amorim having very little time on the training ground installing his methods into the players. For me because of that it's a good idea to wait until the break, we should beat PAOK and Leicester at home anyway and Chelsea on Sunday again would've been too soon for Amorim to get the team set up how he wants.
I’m excited too but won’t get carried away as ETH had some impressive results at Ajax. Hopefully Amorim is the one to get us back on trackVery excited about this. His results at Sporting are nothing short of impressive
Is he charismatic? Like, cool?
Aye. Even aside from that last, awful year, he’s comfortably the best striker I’ve ever seen at United. Imagine him in Fergie’s best teams.I’m actually quite pleased he gets a few more opportunities to soak up some applause from the Stretford End.
i’m concerned that whilst he’s detailing his game plan and instructions to the players, many of them will be day dreaming of a fantasy life where he pushes the tactics board over and marches towards them and passionately kisses them. He’s a handsome sod, a full head of hair and an even better beard. Would expect the players to react well to that and start playing to their full potential.
You refer to the prophecy of the one that bring balance to your team?Mark my words, Ruben Amorim is “THE ONE”* He will get this club back where it belongs.
*He may not actually be “THE ONE”.
