Ruben Amorim | United meet Sporting release clause

Getting him in during the international break is ideal in my opinion. Gives him some time to get everyone up to speed on what he’s trying to do as well as gives him some time to settle in on a personal level.
When most of the players are away on international duty?

I guess we were nice to Sporting to not destroy a good relationship hence he starts only in a fee weeks. Not ideal for us and he should have come in after the weekend already

I don’t think every single one of our players play for their national team do they? And it’s still better than dropping in two days before a game in my opinion

I don’t see what is in this for Sporting Lisbon to keep a manager an extra ten days when everybody knows he’s going. Surely that just causes unrest for everybody.
Pure pettiness. We shall not forget this cheap act when we go raiding them in the next few transfer windows.

Most of our starting squad do. Which players wouldn’t?

A teams performance after a quarter of a season is a firm indication of where they finish. I expect Amorim to be better but I don’t expect him to work miracles or expect two of Villa, City, Liverpool and Arsenal to have a meltdown from here, not to mention Brighton, Chelsea and Spurs, who are up there too.

I agree, let's just give up and not try and further lower the standards and culture

And how does your brilliant point apply to the 3 cups?

This season is fecked anyway so it makes no real difference whether he joins now or in 2 weeks.

There's no need to negotiate this hard.

He’s not the first manager to have overperformed, worked in a similar structure, doesn’t mean that they’re well equipped to handle the biggest clubs.

It’ll be interesting to see how Frank does in this season in the next, i’m far from convinced that he’s good enough.

I had Frank in the firmly do not want basket along with Potter and Southgate.

Bar Alonso we're probably getting the best manager we could've hoped for and there are fans moaning we didn't go for Thomas fecking Frank instead. This place man

We'll live with it. I never thought the Chelsea game was an ideal first one anyway with our habit of getting smashed by these teams.

Hopefully Ruud can get a couple more positive results so that he can start work with us having a bit of confidence and momentum.

THey did cheap out slightly but I can understand not paying 3 Million for 10 days
Especially when you have a competent interim. The Chelsea game would have probably been too soon and even if we could get him, he'd only have a day or two to prepare. We should be beating POAK and Leicester regardless of the manager.

This is it.
The speed Liverpool and City fans are trying to deny they were ever interested speaks volumes.
As does the lack of memes and suchlike. Other clubs will be slightly worrried. They wanted Potter, Southgate etc.,

Get in! Hopefully Ruud carries us over well enough. Something that should've happened a while ago, but better late than never

Great news.

I'd have liked him to start next week but I suppose the international break makes some sense too. It's cool to see Ruud in charge, too.

I'm just delighted we've actually gone and out aggressively appointed the best man for the job. I was worried we'd be dithering over Potter or something.

I wonder if its a good idea to keep someone like Ruud as a bridge between the club and a brand new coaching team.

Otherwise, it will be reminiscent of Moyes & staff coming in with a brand new setup—not knowing how the club works. Most people coming in are usually surprised at the size of the club and the extra work load required.

Different setup. I'd rather have no buffer between the head coach and the upper hierarchy

To be fair, we've talked ahead of the previous international break about how it would be the best time to make a change. So really, waiting until the next international break would be OK.

It's not as if Amorim would have been able to make many changes had he taken the reigns sometime during our tight schedule we have over the next 10 days, with a game every three or days.

We had a winning team when Moyes came over and he dismantled it completely. We now have a rather questionable setup, so I don't mind if they bring the entire gin gang over and dismantle the current one.

They have City and Braga in that timeframe, and it lets them get a new manager on board. Plus we have a solid relationship with them, and will likely be raiding them soon enough for their striker, so lets play nicely.
