another gamble, but I'll happily take this over the names that have been floated. Exciting hire, at the very least.

think we’re actually quite well suited to it with the CB’s we have.
I think so too. We can`t really find a duo that is really solid together, but a back 3 might work better.
I think we need to improve our options still, but a good start.

This is probably the best managerial appointment that United can make. Amorim's exactly the sort of head coach that they should go after given his progressive style and tactical acumen. He's also worked with a variety of players and been successful with many of them.

Wait, i was told here many times that you can't get manager during the season who is under contract?

Reddit tells me he stubbornly plays 3 at the back. How will that work with us?
I honestly know nothing about this guy but central defence is probably our strongest area of the pitch for us and hopefully would make us a bit more solid.

Maguire De Ligt Martinez

OR

Yoro De Ligt Martinez

Dalot and Mazraoui as wingbacks.

Martinez and Yoro as the mobile CB's either side of De Ligt is much more enticing than trying to move forward with such average wingbacks (and no left back to speak of).

Martinez has played on the left of a back three a good few times for Argentina lately and done well. Yoro seems to cover ground well and looked decent covering wide areas from what we saw in pre-season, so I'd fancy him at RCB.

I think Dalot has the physicality to do a job there too, much like Azpilicueta was converted to that role from RB at Chelsea. If anything, it seems like it'd be more natural for him than asking him to play centre mid when we have the ball, like Ten Hag was doing.

Great move, if true. We have a decent squad, one that should have been in the top four hunt, but badly needed a manager up to the task.

Reading he wants his attackers to help in attack. Rashy's fuming already.

I like him and hope he will be good for us, but I am also a bit cautious.

What has he done more than Ten Hag before he joined us? He won two championships in a smaller league, Ten Hag won three. He did alright in Europe, Ten Hag made the CL semi final. Ten Hag failed miserably at United.

There's no guarantee in any managerial appointment. Slot was a gamble as was Maresca. You gotta take a chance by considering various things (personality, tactical fit, current squad composition, data) and this guy checks all the boxes.

Unless we're literally getting Guardiola, everyone else is a gamble.

Ten Hag was a good appointment, had his chance, was backed well and failed.

He played in the same Benfica team as Gaitan and Garay, so god knows if he’ll actually join or if it’s just reported and teased he’s going to join.

And I looked up whether he did play against us and he did. A 85th minute sub for Pablo Aimar at OT in 2011, which finished 2-2.

also pretty funny that Luckhurst said they'd look at out-of-contract managers to save money. Wrong again.

I'm very excited about this, looks like there was definitely some communication beforehand with how quickly it seems to be moving.

I voted Motta on the poll, something I like about the guy, but with how unrealistic that would be considering how recently he moved, I'm super up for Rúben.

Let's charge on forward and give all our support to whoever they end up choosing either way.

10 million?

Walk away
10 or even 20 mill for the right manager is absolutely worth it. In a world where Antony’s and Mounts are going for 3-4 times that. The right manager can change a whole club.

The questions is he the right guy. From reading comments in here posters seem hyped, but it was same with ETH before we got him.

Also, for all those saying this new structure and INEOS are no better than the previous one. When Jose was sacked and Ole was made interim or when Ole was sacked and Rangnick was made interim we didn't move this quickly for our next manager. We dithered for weeks to make a decision on permanent manager. Hopefully people see that.

I'm positively pumped if this is our next manager...and he has a full head of hair.

If it is true United have been talking to him for days, he’s obviously said “Yes” Does he speak English?
