Hope we finally get over the back the manager no matter what nonsense. If we get him and he doesn't turn around the style by the end of this season, he should go in the summer. No more of this he didn't have his any transfer window, no preseason or any other bullshit we seem to come up with.

I don't expect us to win titles or finish top 4, just the style of football has to change.

Didn’t think he’d be up to joining mid season to be fair.

We went from bald to the complete opposite direction, full-on, super dense hair. Enough to rival the Lego man at Arsenal.

Absolutely. We should give the new manager a 1 year contract and extend it if only they change the style and we see a clear style.

@Woziak replying to your post from the now locked thread :

He took a Championship striker(Gyokeres) and turned him into an elite striker(as per your description). Why spend that much when we have Hojlund here? If he can't do something remotely similar with Hojlund then he's not that great of a coach is he.

Delighted with this if true. Have been a big fan of watching his sporting team in recent years, would love to see that be implemented here. There’s a few players I wouldn’t mind him bringing either, especially if he is going to stick to his 3-4-3 system.

What style of football does he play at sporting?
Quite attacking I believe. Although his Wikipedia says he’s a pragmatic coach. But I’ve seen his teams bang in 6 goals a few times. He’s a quite well organised.

Can’t help but get excited, never thought we could get him. What he has done at Sporting has been magnificent, and even though we have seen bigger names fail in the last decade here, I think he will do well. Get it done!

Reddit tells me he stubbornly plays 3 at the back. How will that work with us?

I think we have an array of players who will do well in that wide center back position not to mention the existing CBs in our squad (Yoro, De Ligt, Martinez, Maguire, Lindelof, Shaw, Mazraoui). Shaw already plays that position to a high level and Mazraoui has been used that way by Ten Hag already. A 3-2 build up structure is the default tactic in the PL anyway regardless of what the on-paper formation says. I think it'll be fine - we have enough CBs for depth.

I'm more worried about the lack of actual wing backs in the squad. I think it means Garnacho LWB and Dalot RWB.

Did wonders in Portugal and suddenly he's the best manager since sliced bread. Hard to think it won't eventually go the same way as with any other manager. There are two or three characters in the dressing room that contribute to a manger failing too, and they still remain.
At this point who is left? Rashford, Dalot and Bruno? Shaw from the hospital?

No way they put this together in a couple of hours.

Nah, this must have been practically done and the sacking of Ten Hag has been in the cards for a while. This is moving way too fast to just have happened. Him saying yes must have triggered the sacking.

He likes to play a back 3...a more traditional 3-4-3 frow what I can tell. Curious how that would look with the currently available players.

Exciting news, made this post about Amorim just 2 months ago! Again, clear standout.
Ruben Amorim is the clear standout for me. I think Tuchel is a good option, Nagelsmann would be if he was available, and Alonso’s destiny seems to lie elsewhere.

Of the young upcoming managers Amorim looks to be the most charismatic IMO, he seems to have a really vocal, dominant personality and really has his players and fans on side. He can also claim to be a winner having broken the duopoly between Benfica & Porto. Not only bringing Sporting their first title in 19 years, but also managing to win a 2nd title within 4 years in charge (+ 2 cups), with different players at that.

In 4 years (218 games) in charge he’s managed to average:
  • 2.25 points per game
  • 2.19 goals per game
  • 0.89 goals against per game
  • Team consistently hovers around 60% possession
For context, our stats throughout Ten Hags tenure (118 games) look like this:
  • 1.88 points per game (Pep’s City = 2.34)
  • 1.83 goals per game (Pep’s City = 2.55)
  • 1.43 goals against per game (Pep’s City = 0.90)
  • Around 51% possession (Pep’s City = 63%)

I like him and hope he will be good for us, but I am also a bit cautious.

What has he done more than Ten Hag before he joined us? He won two championships in a smaller league, Ten Hag won three. He did alright in Europe, Ten Hag made the CL semi final. Ten Hag failed miserably at United.

De Lidt - Yoro - Martinez I'd guess. Both Dalot and Mazraoui can play wing back I'd say. Probably not to an elite level but nevertheless.

I'm more interested in how he would set up the centre mids and the attackers.

Would he be the 2nd youngest in the league. Behind the Brighton manager?

I definitely think Shaw and Rashford have the most influence in that dressing room and are both cancers to the club and we won't have turned a corner under INEOS in my eyes until they are gone.
