Dunno where you got this from or if you wrote it but it's spot on. One of the things I like with Amorim is that he gives academy players a chance. Quenda with 17 years of age being a starter proves that. He's our new wonder kid.

Think it was a chat GBT cut & paste

So no more Dutch transfers, we'll be getting more Portuguese

Good, they are generally better IMO. Sporting have developed some really top players. Ajax had a few but we got Antony. Hopefully he'll bring their next best prospect here with him.

Very highly rated and turned down Barce and Liverpool

Would be amazing to get him

Winning the Portuguese league with Sporting is also a far bigger achievement than winning the Dutch league with Ajax.
No doubt. Sporting is kinda like Feyenoord. A step bellow Benfica/Porto or in Dutch case Ajax/PSV

He hasn’t done that yet by a long stretch.
Won the title last season by 10 points, 9/9 wins this season, also won the title a few seasons ago in his first season I think? Before him it was what, 20 years since they won?

Some of these players are on the way out regardless of who’s the manager. I think a clear out doesn’t mean that the new manager has all the say in squad building anymore, or at least I would hope.
If we can find both mentally & physically strong leaders, think we can say goodbye to all of declining ones. In other case experienced ones like Eriksen or Casemiro could stay for a while, but honestly, I don't think this midfield apart from Ugarte or Mainoo have the intensity to satisfy Amorim.

He'll demand defensive awareness, plus securing wide spaces to stop the conceding avalanche. Current midfield and fullbacks at United are simply not enough in numbers, and it's not always about quality. Their bodies won't take that pressure, imo.

It's Amorim in Premier League. He'll get what he needs or just fail and probably no one will have patience with him.

He’s also a lot younger. ten Hag is near 15 years his senior.

Rúben Amorim is known for his dynamic, adaptable tactics, and he’s widely recognised as one of the most promising young managers in European football. Here’s a breakdown of his tactical style:

1. Formation Flexibility

Primary Setup: Amorim’s preferred formation is the 3-4-3 or a variation of it, often adapting to a 3-4-2-1 or 3-5-2 when needed.

Defensive Shape: His team transitions into a 5-4-1 or 5-3-2 defensively, with wing-backs dropping back to form a solid five-man defence line, making them tough to break down.

2. Emphasis on Wing-backs

Key Role: Amorim’s system relies heavily on wing-backs who provide width, pace, and create overloads in wide areas.

Dual Role: These players are responsible for supporting both defence and attack, creating crucial link-ups with midfielders and forwards.

3. Positional Play & Fluidity

Player Movement: Players constantly switch positions to confuse opponents, with forwards often dropping back to create space for wing-backs or midfielders to make runs.

Midfield Control: Amorim typically employs a double pivot in midfield to control possession, dictate tempo, and maintain a solid structure to prevent counter-attacks.

4. High Pressing & Aggression

Intensity: Amorim likes his team to press aggressively from the front, aiming to win back possession quickly, especially in the opponent’s half.

Press Triggers: The team presses when specific cues occur (like a poor pass from the opponent), aiming to catch defences off guard and quickly regain possession.

5. Counter-attacking Threat

Quick Transitions: When they win the ball, Sporting under Amorim are swift in transitioning to attack, often using quick, vertical passes to exploit spaces left by the opposition.

Direct Play: Rather than maintaining prolonged possession, Amorim encourages a direct approach in counter-attacks, with players making decisive forward runs.

6. Youth Development

Promotion of Young Talent: Amorim isn’t afraid to give young players a chance, integrating youth academy players into the first team, which boosts morale and supports long-term squad sustainability.

Amorim's style is a blend of defensive solidity and attacking fluidity, making his teams difficult to predict and break down. This approach has been key to his success at Sporting CP, where he’s brought a fresh, modern style that combines traditional Portuguese
flair with disciplined, structured tactics.
Thanks, Mr ChatGPT.

What leagues better, the Dutch or the Portuguese?

Is it relevant? I mean, both had good enough squads to with their league.

I guess what is relevant is the gap between the better team in either league and the rest. Or how much competition their teams had in any given year. I looked at the leagues each won it looks like each had relatively similar levels of competition, in terms of teams also going for the title.

Both had success in their leagues so it would he hard to compare one against the other.

Quality control
I'm sure he would suffice for a smaller club in Italy, but he doesn't look like he's got the quality to be a success at a big club, which is backed up by his performances so far this year.
Well! Never

So what kind of quality are you expecting of a World Class Man Utd team 24/25 when players especially like Rashford, Antony are tearing teams part…

As per your quote above …Rashford should be in the League 2 as he has done nothing for the past year and a half.

And you being an admin ….WHAT KIND OF HATE ARE YOU PASSING FOR ENGAGEMENT???

Dare I say it....... A bit like toppling Celtic and Rangers with Aberdeen. ;)

His English is excellent and he will understand the pressure of the EPL.

Posted this earlier but worth repeating in a fast moving thread as i think Ten Hag struggled in communicating his message to the team. Amorim seems to have what ETH lacked.

From 2022...

The first challenge for any new manager in any job is to convince his players that his ideas are right. This is how the manager generates “buy-in” and how, over time, their own ideas become those of the players too. This skill is maybe the most important in management.

Amorim has it in bucketloads.

Also important to him is the ability to give clear and simple instructions that make sense to his players. Some coaches might overcomplicate the game but Amorim would rather give simple instructions that are fully understood than complex instructions that are half-grasped.

“Ruben is a coach that brings everyone together,” says Meneses. “From the players, administration, staff, everyone ‘buys into’ your idea. This is key to creating a winning mindset. He has a very strong personality but, at the same time, it does not fracture the group. With his strong leadership, he manages to unite and aggregate. He is very smart in human relationships and communication. These are Ruben’s strengths as a coach.”

Another source who knows Amorim well says the same: “His superpower is not the 3-4-3, it is communication. With the media, the fans and the players.”

Even now, his players at Sporting watch his press conferences intently to see what he has to say.

Depending on how adventurous Amorin is, he could even have Dalot as a third CB. The Dalot of last year's form would be a very good choice. Essentially our Walker. Fast, tall, strong and good on the ball.

 I believe you. I'm just referencing Conte as successful post-hair-op manager in the PL.
How can somebody as slow as Maguire play in a back three ?

Exciting times if this happens

Would have been a high candidate to replace Pep no doubt with the Sporting director already on his way to City

2 titles in 4 years is a great start to ending the dominance, but this season they have had a pretty easy set of fixtures ad played at home v Porto in the 2-0 win. He's on an upwards trajectory for sure, but sample size isn't enough to suggest he's changing the landscape of the big boys in Portugal.

He’s only a year old than me. I think what we can conclude from that is that I should have been in the running for manager

Has he only ever played 3 at the back?

I've also noticed quite a few people opting for Yoro as the middle centre back, with De Ligt as the RCB. Wouldn't it be best if they swapped?

It depends on where you use him. In the middle of the three, I think he can. As a Rudiger type wide center back he can't.

The dutch league is better, but the top3 portuguese teams are better than the top3 from the dutch league.

Yes, this is actually massive and cannot be understated.
Even though Sporting is one of the big 3 clubs, they used to be far behind Benfica and Porto and usually were out of contention by Christmas. Every single year.

But then... Sporting didnt't have a realistic chance to win the league, but it was the covid season and Amorim managed to do it somehow.
Then he did it again last year, wtf.
And this year Sporting looks unbeatable in the league. And for the first time, Sporting was the favorite to win at the start of the season. This is thanks to Amorim's work.

Great manager. United will do well to sign him and back him up.

INEOS must have had an indication that this was on before they finally sacked Ten Hag. They probably would have waited until the international break at least unless this was already underway behind the scenes.

Is it a gamble? He's been talked of very highly and been linked to high profile jobs. Him being only 39 makes me slightly anxious that we're signing an Andre Villas Boas type of manager who is the next best thing on the continent but gets severely found out in England.

It was heading this way for the last month or so. You'd like to think due diligence has been done well in advance.
