Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Ye i think he’s the only manager after fergie that isn’t trying to use excuses by saying it’s going to take time etc. he also isn’t using the youth excuse with the young squad we have..: he said there here because they know the standards.
Even our previous manager said similar when he joined. Amorim is way more charismatic and clear though. He looks the real deal even more so.

He's saying a lot of the stuff you'd expect a new Man Utd manger to say, Ten Hag said plenty similar. The difference is obvious as to why its being taken better and spoken about in such glowing terms; he's charismatic, clear and has a hefty amount of charm and goodwill in the bank.

I'm looking forward to the future. It's an exciting and hopeful time.

Ten hag talked about playing dominant football but never succeeded in doing so. I think we’re all optimistic that Amorim will give us the football we’ve all be crying out for. Aslong as we see improvement with our style all should be good

Ten Hag said a lot but basically delivered none of what he waffled on about.

What makes a manager/head coach chairsmatic,m?

You barely know the guy and other ones we had had some sort of training to get their license surely. So theyre also chairsmatic and better than a layman. One example was they could speak to the media, no nervousness. Ten Hag even if bald had 3 times more chrisma than yous. So please let things be because by the end of the day no amount of chairsmatic can get you away from bad results, whey they come people are getting sick of you. Vultures a lot of them

Leave Ruben alone

''You will see an idea. This I can guarantee.''

This is the key bit I think. We know it's not going to be smooth sailing straight away, Amorim has literally got games every 3 or 4 days from now until early January and there will be some poor results in there I'm sure, but hopefully people will be more forgiving if we can see how we're trying to play and see signs of it working.

Ten Hag never had a consistent style of football, he clearly had some ideas about pressing and transitions but we only saw it in fits and starts and he abandoned all of that to play survival football whenever he was under pressure. We need an identity.

Remember this one, because of Alan.

It's like unlocking a core memory but I was there that night in the East Stand near the Braga fans. They played us off the park in the first half, we didn't look like scoring at all until we actually did if I remember correctly. Had forgotten all about that game.

And then seeing some of those players just makes me lament the team we've got now (and the way football these days is to an extent) - RVP of course but Chicharito and Kagawa (I know he wasn't great for us but still), Michael Carrick in the midst of one of his best seasons for us (even if he did get done by Eder of all people). Mad to see Jonny Evans scoring there and playing against our now manager.

He knows he must win games from the off. But he’ll win them his way, staying true to his identity.

This is exactly why it’s hard to get swept away by this new suave stranger.
Yes but let’s be honest. If we had to listen to ETH and listen to Amorim. Who sends a clearer message. Who sounds more like they know what they’re talking about.

so training to get their license = charismatic? what kind of logic is this? ETH was as dull as dishwater to listen to. Even when I liked him and was enjoying his time in charge, I couldn't stand to watch his press conferences because he bored the life out of me.

Charisma is usually one of the first things you notice about somebody.

He delivered a FA cup and waffles on about it for a solid 3 months after
Could be worse. Could be Mourinho and waffling on about finishing 2nd with us being his biggest achievement years after being here.

Just watched his interview and I love this guy. I didnt rate Ten Haag after his first interview and got lots of grief on here but Amorim is another level.

They are both clear and both know what they are talking about. Amorim is however more down to earth and realistic in how he translates the expectations to the players.

One example that stood out for me was how he was very quick to say he won't go into finer details in a rush, as it will get confusing for the players. Ten Hag has clear ideas all the same but this was probably one of the key areas he failed in, wherein players were overloaded with tactical instructions and it became strenuous to follow and poorly implemented as a result.

I'm optimistic, but I'm not going to get excited over an interview.

I remember people getting excited by LVG's first press conference because he was so different from the very dour Moyes. Then Mourinho came with his charisma. We know how that turned out.
Same. We're a fanbase with PTSD.

Just watched his interview. I think his overall positivity and calm will really help the players. Very optimistic about him as our new leader.

We lost the United way the minute Fergie left.
The idea that there’s any sort of “United way” besides attacking football and fighting until the last whistle is fecking stupid and a product of the endless amounts of nostalgia montages and cliches.

Even with Fergie our actual play style differed over the years as he evolved and the players did too.

Exactly. If we tried to play the way fergie played in 2012, we would get hammered every game. Football has evolved and there's no room for sentimentality.

Im really keen to see how he adapts his formation over the first few months to suit these players and the league. Naturally I am expecting us to play with fullbacks for wingbacks over the next few seasons if things go well, and only we have the squad where it needs to be in terms of quality and understanding of the formation, do I think we will then start deploying wingers in those wingback positions.

I believe Amorim did this at Sporting, and in the PL, managers such as Pep have done the same.

With our forwards, im expecting him to play with a more classic front three early on, and then shift towards having the wide players operate as attacking mids behind the striker. Or perhaps do what Mourinho did in his early years and have a lopsided attack, with one winger hugging the touchline, and on the other side, the winger plays more centrally to allow the fullback on that same side to attack higher up.

I fully expect him to adapt his formation many times until he figures out the correct way to tackle the Premier League. The only signing im expecting in January is a left wingback, and so I think he will give every other player a chance.

Hit the nail on the head. The United way has always just been giving attacking players the chance to show what they can do, and fighting till the death of every game.

We’ve had many false dawns but nobody could watch that and not be impressed. He’s so calm, his words are both calculated yet heartfelt and he fills you with confidence. That is something I feel none of our managers have had post SAF.

Yep. Like if Amorim shows up with the 343 with funky positions and a different style but we are creating chances for fun and attacking (especially at home) while working our socks off, no one will give a feck. It doesn’t have to be “counter attacking” “direct” “flying wingers” or whatever else has been shouted through the years.

Just be brave and try to impose our will while giving it our all. However that happens is irrelevant

I really, really like the part in the interview where he suggested that every new player should be taken on a tour across the museum, to better understand the club he is playing for, similar to what was done with Evra when he first joined. To create a better connection between player and a club. He seems to be hitting all the right notes in that interview, can't wait to see how everything will look like on the pitch.

Just watched the interview, thank god he has great English as I think that was one of Ten Hag's problems. Communication shouldn't be an issue this time.

Utter nonsense.

Probably not. The club made Rashford the face of the brand practically before he'd achieved a thing. He's threatened to leave when playing shit, tried to fight with fans, plays atrociously whilst earning the most money. And yet he's still here. The only coach we've had so far who seemingly had him sussed was Rangnick, and he was booted into touch and nobody wanted to hear his assessment of the players.

Shaw has been injured probably more than he's been fit at this stage, and yet we've never really gone out and signed a player who could replace him. Instead we sign loan players to tide us over for another 6 months, or a cheap signing from Eredivisie.

I honestly do believe there's some level of protection, or at least resistance, to moving them on or replacing them.

Absolutely.

It’s clear Shaw and Rashford will be key.

I don't think it's clear at all.

No coach worth their salt would watch us and decide they're two players to rely on.

Firstly, Shaw had no natural role in his system. He'd have to experiment him in a new position and he'll know there's no guarantees there. Not to mention the fact he'd have had to have been watching us 2 or 3 years ago to see a fully fit Luke Shaw playing regularly.

And Rashford needs no explanation.

I've not seen him mention them but if he has then I'd say is just a bit of PR to mention some British players, or somebody at the club has been talking to him about the need to get them both playing and preforming. There's no way he watched us this season or last season and decided they're two key players.

Annoying that the interview is blocked. This should be something available to all United fans
