Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

It concerns me that 99% of posters on here could tell that the team we finished the match with was miles stronger than the team we started. Will he learn for the next match?
Sometimes I wonder if he knows this too, and just want the strongest team on the pitch when the game opens up more.

Its not about the tough times. Is it too much to ask him to show some progress ? You don't need great players to show some improvements in our game ?

We have seen this script and we know exactly where this is going. He would be lucky to make it to summer if he doesn't change his style.
How can you show progress when you sell off the players that have carried you in previous seasons?

Sure, lets list all the managers that have show progress 2 months into a new job with one player signed into their bereft team. If you don't need players to show improvements then explain Forest and Chelsea's turnarounds. Explain why teams go out and spend daft money every summer. No point when you can just coach Dalot to be Roberto Carlos.

boring system, not what the club is about. Too passive and defensive, he needs to adapt to do well here, this one idea gimmick won’t cut it.

He is over complicating it at the moment, and he needs to the right line up. Looked better in the second half with Yoro on the left and Mazraoui on the right which is how expected is to lineup. The wingbacks should have swapped as well.

Bud second half showed if players actually press, and engage high up the pitch rather than running back towards our goal constantly we look a lot better.
It was so obvious though. No idea why he did it but it was stupid

He needs to stop stalking the sidelines. What kind of message is he sending to the players?
The players arent watching him during the game, they are watching the ball, watching the opposition players, watching their own players. They are listening to their own team mates calls and instructions. The only people that get bothered by sideline movements of managers are the fans

I know that Amorim is so attached to the 343 formation but it's evidently not working and not posing a footballing threat in the EPL or domestic cups, in Europe it can be effective though.

What made Ruud's short spell effective is that he kept things simple, set up players in their better positions and scored goals. If you look back we played 4231 with 2xDMs. I know it was only a few games against Leicester but I would take 3 wins and 1 draw in 4, with 11 goals scored right now! Just look at how complicated we are making tonight against Ruuds Leicester!

I think Amorim would show how good a manager he could be for us by switching it up when the games call for it. 3 at the back against the top teams to grind out a result and then set up more attacking in others, especially at home!

I don't think we'll be seeing that happening.

Amorim is an ideologue.

Again what he tried in the 1st half didn't work.
Excellent from him to always be able to spot these moments and make the correct changes. We comfortably smashed them in the second half.

Amad has to be RWB, Garnacho has to play. Mainoo can't play as a regular starter.
Zirkzee is such an enigma I don't know what do make of him. But certainly looks more of a footballer than Rasmus right now.

He keeps on trying new things and I'm happy with that, even if they don't work out. Because he is smart enough to change it.
Love his passion, love his tireless hard work. He is going to make it work and I'm 100% sure of it!

When are they actually going to get better is my question? He's had over 20 games now and they look just as bad as when he first arrived.

Is there any player who has improved under Amorim? I guess Amad once he was finally given a run of games but that honestly seems to be about it.

I understand the system takes time to learn and they are missing quality in certain areas but I would have expected some improvement.
They look worse. It's concerning

Despite the win this performance and decisions by the manager have just added to the doubts about him. The players are poor but they are not this poor. His tactics are contributing to this. Needs to show something that these tactics are worth sticking to, at the moment he is showing nothing.

Stop with this bullshit experimenting at this stage of the season. Play the players in their preferable position. Do the basics right. And this for the manager

Don't see this ever becoming a great brand of football, it's really poor actually.

Hopefully with Quenda and Dorgu next season it's a bit better.

Great win in the circumstances but huge question marks on Amorim for me. Have no clue what he is trying to do here. The only time we looked like scoring was in the last 30 minutes when we threw caution to the wind, started stretching the game with long diagonals one after another. Nothing wrong with that but you know we are not going to start the next game like that.

Why is he playing inverted full backs and narrowing the pitch? Who is his preferred starting striker - Hojlund, Zirkzee, Mainoo?? Why was Maz playing on the left in the first half when we know how good he can be in the rcb role??? Why was Mainoo preferred over Garnacho if the plan was to play inverted fullbacks???? So many issues with the team setup that he needs to solve.

We should definitely not discard a talent like Garnacho just because he doesn’t seem to fit the ‘system’. Amorim needs to prove his system can work before we sacrifice our starlets in service of it.

Amorim has all to prove until the end of the season, despite all the challenges with the squad.

We somehow look worse. We actually looked better under Ruud. Which is insane.

Inverted, Inverted, Inverted. So narrow, predictable and slow.

For a system so based on Wing Backs, playing Inverted full backs and Full Backs all the time is madness.

The players are shite and he doesn’t really stand a chance at this circus, but… he’s making his life much harder than it needs to be.

How many more times do we need to play Amad at wing back instead of a defender to know that we look more dangerous? How many more times do we need to watch Dalot struggle on the left? Your £25 million left wing back comes in, plays out of position in a role in which we can field three players, and gets hooked at half time.

The formation isn’t the issue; just play more attacking players and attempt to score some bloody goals.

The tweak in way set us up 2nd half was good, letting Garnacho stay out on the left. Playing to Garnacho strenghts which is to get him in one in one with the full back as much as possible.

We need better number 10s if Garnacho doesn't play.

I'm all for the cultural reset and getting rid of overpaid underperforming players and shit..

.. but surely you still have to show something? Some semblance of hope, at least?

I'm still baffled why he didn't play Dorgu LWB and Dalot RWB? I hope someone asks him, what a weird bizarre decision that makes zero sense.

Amorim is a big fan of inverted wingbacks. While most of us thought a naturally left sided player like Dorgu was signed to play on the left. Amorim likely planned for him to mostly be used on the right.

Honestly he's been fecking stupid with some of his decisions and not helping himself. The whole dalot and maz wingback shit for so long. Then we finally get a lwb and he puts him inverted on right side. Stop with the mainoo shit further forward.

This game shouldn't have been that fecking hard to put a lineup for. Maz at rcb, yoro at lcb. Dorgu lwb. You love Dalot so much fine put his ass at rwb and tell him to get forward and pump crosses in. Get amad and garnacho behind hojlund and get some pace attacking Leicester. Have ugarte providing the concert at cm and Bruno playing the runners forward next to him. Jesus fecking Christ it was Leicester at old Trafford

Arsenal fans were asking the same questions under Arteta for a long time and after a few years they're routinely 2nd in the league and in the CL knockouts.

I think we have to accept that the squad genuinely is horrendous. Maybe not 13th horrendous but not far off.

We have to remember this is the 2nd season in a row that we play like a lower half team, 8th flattered us greatly last year. If it's happened two seasons in a row you have to theorise the team might actually be that bad.

It's a slow rebuild job no matter who the manager is.

Overcomplicate things too much. Maz and Yoro on the wrong side of the defense. Dalot and Dorgu should also swap positions.

There is also an issue with Bruno and Mainoo. Keep changing their positions and they wouldn't get used to their roles.

Makes many weird decisions with his line ups. At least he put Maz in his correct position today in the second half. A start.
Now he needs to end the Dalot experiment.
