Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

An offside Maguire goal decides whether or not he "deserves" the sack?

The abysmul run of results under him along absoutely ridiculous team selection and getting outplayed by one of the worst teams in the league at home yet again is deserving of the sack but the offside goal probably saved him.

I'm worried. Not sure the whole "he'll lose his authority if he changes formation for this season" argument is correct but would be glad to be proven wrong here. But if sticking by his formation is what Amorim wants, then at least put players in right positions. Mazraoui at RCB, Dalot/Amad at RWB, Dorgu at LWB. First half tonight and Dalot on left was so wrong that it seems everyone saw it except for him. Why experiment when you desperately need good performances and wins, especially at home.

We should add rating managers in postmatch threads. Some good changes from Amorim in 2nd half but would still give him 3/10. Really annoyed with him tonight.

We're bad, we know that. But we're not this bad. And this is not me wanting Amorim out but just stating the obvious. Fans are patient and will still be to extent but just do basics right and give us more performances like Liverpool away to have something to make us trust him. Just one quality performance at home would be enough atm. We've been terrible at home under Amorim.

He's making less and less sense, unfortunately. And it's weird. One thing he's been consistently good at is making the right subs - so he clearly identifies if something doesn't work. Only to go back to something that obviously won't work next match

How can you show progress when you sell off the players that have carried you in previous seasons?

Sure, lets list all the managers that have show progress 2 months into a new job with one player signed into their bereft team. If you don't need players to show improvements then explain Forest and Chelsea's turnarounds. Explain why teams go out and spend daft money every summer. No point when you can just coach Dalot to be Roberto Carlos.

Such as?

he HAS to be considering changing the system until may, surely. any of the players hes judged good enough for it will still get it in pre season.

A win does not excuse Amorim in any way from what was largely a shambolic display of coaching and selection against a borderline Championship side. It was a disgrace.

We dominated Leicester in the 2nd half when Amad moved to RWB and we had two proper #10s in Zirkzee and Garnacho. So why did Amorim start a RWB at #10, a RWB as a LWB and a LWB as a RWB? It's mental.

If he doesn't see Dorgu and Amad should be our starting WBs, which is a very basic thing, I don't think he is the coach to take us back to the top.

I absolutely hate 4 wide players all inverted.

Just try a right footed player at RWB and left footed at LWB and let them overlap and cross the ball and cut backs please.

Sorry but what game were you watching. We absolutely dominated the second half, they barely had a sniff.

It feels like the players bailed him out there at the end.

Ironically, we looked a bit better late in the second half when the players started to move around and abandon the set formation.

I really hope he learns his lesson from this. You can't play five defenders at home against poor teams.

Gabriel Clarke asking the right questions.

"Were players played in the wrong positions tonight?"

Amorim - "I dont agree"

Chirst on a bike. Delusional.

He's not been good enough.
Does anybody honestly think that Ratcliffe is going to sign off on a squad overhaul for this guys tactics and system? I don’t see it personally.

I think we’ll have another manager before the end of this year.

If we go that way, hopefully for the start of next season. No mid season shenanigans

He looks and sounds very fed up. Just get to the end of the season try to win something and go from there.

I don’t know whats going on here. Mainoo as striker last game and then play the new player out of position. Is there a curse on this club that every new manager decides to make the most braindead decisions ever?
I think he needs to calm down and bring some clarity in his head. From the outside, it seems like he is just experimenting till something sticks. This is further compounded when he disregards what has worked in the past and tries something completely new.

Patience is running thin and he needs to take control and show the fans that he knows what he is doing.

Yup, let's sack him without really having a chance to put his stamp on this club. Who do you bring in after him?

I think he needs a holiday. Take a break, stop thining about united and football and come back fresh.

What you're talking about?

Ratcliffe doing that means his getting rid of Omar Barada because he brought in Amorim who believes firmly he's the right man, they've purchased Dorgu to play in this system too. No way is Ratcliffe getting involved. They will invest in him and hope he gets it right, or it'll be like our managers before, rip up and start again and waste few years.

Really fear for Amorim. Keane is right, if there's no enthusiasm or energy then the system won't make a jot of difference.

Mainoo walking around, no intensity. Hojlund lumbering about the pitch. Dalot and Ugarte making shocking decisions time after time.

He's always fuming, doesnt seem to make any difference on performances because he keeps persisting with this shite formation and 5 defenders at home.
He was annoyed with the lack of intensity and energy. Formation doesn’t matter especially at home against a Championship level team.

Ratcliffe already is with Dorgu, and not a chance.

Well if that was the case him and his staff have made two horrendous errors in his short time in charge

Keeping ETH in the summer, spending money on players for him, only to realise a month into the season he's still terrible, then bringing in a manager who we knew played a completely different system and would need signings to make it work.

We're so bad and the squad is so bad we have no choice but to think long term now and just build slowly with the manager they identified as the right one.

No matter which manager we bring in we'll still have a midtable set of players.

He is making life very difficult for himself with his strange decisions and playing players in wrong positions.

I have full faith in Amorim.
Knows what needs to be done, always looking to fix it when it's not working. Trying to find the best solution.
And it's clearly coming.

Let's go!

The big problem is most Managers would simply bench those players and replace them. We simply can't.

You think we'll write off another £20m+ hiring and firing managers?

I don't think some realise how dire our financial position is.
