Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

We are fecking unbelievably shit.

I thought I'd defend him to the end of the season no matter what, but this is so indefensibly shite that I just can't. Our players are bad, but they're not this bad... right?!?

My biggest concern is we give him a summer transfer window, spend all of our money on yet another profile of player, and then we're still shite, Amorim gets sacked, and the next manager inherits another crap and disjointed squad.

It's impossible to grade Amorim based on the players we have, but his inability to adapt is a massive problem.
Has always been my worry. I'm hoping he turns it around and earns his summer budget but feck me.....

*Sigh* Is it too much to ask for decent positioning and a bit of control in our setup? I'm not asking for much - just.. logic.

You can criticise the manager without calling for him to be sacked.

I'm a fan of Amorim...but the Dorgu 45 mins was just so difficult to understand.

Why are the CB's always going this deep? It's leaving far to much room for the Leicester midfield to play around us. Same mistake for years.

As things stand, his greatest achievement will be to get Rashford out of this club. You cant explain this inability to score goals at home

Maybe a bit OTT, but it is really baffling. Especially when he was arguably our best player in the first half
I like Ruben and how he has called out our weaknesses. I hate the defensive formation he plays and the fact he has created new weaknesses because we are so easy to play against. I don't see how anyone can look ahead and assume with any confidence that we're going to get any better even with a few signings.

What did Sporting's football look like? This but better? Or something entirely different?

They might be. I still think a pragmatic manager would do better though.

He's not going to change it. This is what he is. You could lose 200 games in a row, he'd still do it. We knew this before getting him. We have to survive long enough for him to get players to play the system.
If he doesn't adapt their is no way he gets enough time to get his own players. Sticking yo his formation is one thing but when playing inverted wing backs alongside three centre backs that offer nothing in possession is just dumb

This for me feels like a turning point. United won't win many more points like this. Amorim should be under scrutiny already given this dross.

I think today is the day the tide has finally turned. He aint gonna last the season tbh.

Yeah me too. I still won't finally start judging him until next season starts. But after preseason, no excuses left.
The worse this gets, the harder it will be to have any argument for any leeway. There is only so much dismal constant losing you can produce on your way to long term glory.

That's my main problem... Yeah, we're massively lacking at wing back and striker, but I can't see how even great signings will turn us from what we're seeing to a good side.

I worry when a manager starts playing players not in their position. Dorgu/Dalot the obvious but Kobbie/Bruno is the one that confuses me more.
Two of our best players, why try change them?

Sporting's players are far more athletic, faster and stronger than our lot. Remember how our players looked incompetent passing compared to ten Hag's Ajax? Our players look incapable of running and having any strength compared to Amorim's Sporting.

Something tells me that the sack watch words are going to be added to the thread title sooner than we thought.

He's quite a promising manager, but it's just not working. Not only is not working, but it's getting worse as the season advances, which brings the "we need more training" theory down. The club should just assume the casting error and make one less transfer next season to cover his contract termination.

I don't normally bother to post but this formation sucks. It is so defensive and still leaves their CDM to dominate im midfield with so much space and time. Amorim is a one trick pony. You need adaptability. Sticking to your guns isn't always a strength.

I like Ruben I really do, but it’s a results business and we’re really fecking bad. Like disastrously bad. Bleak.

Equaliser doesn’t change the absolutely woeful performances.

Sadly this is the reality. This is why the club should be focusing on an overarching philosophy and getting the type of manager that can run it. If he moves on, another manager slots in and continues steering. The show should go on, here we just keep reinventing the wheel.

To think Amorim even considered selling Garnacho too when he's one of the few attacking players who can create something by himself. If he had his way he'd have signed someone who'd play it safe instead.

We haven't appointed a manager with proven experience in one of the top four European leagues in the last 9 years. Best in class doesn't extend to the coaching staff.

He clearly stated that he wanted Garnacho to stay. Amorim is not in charge of our transfers.

Our biggest problem.

We've been diabolical in manager recruitment, same as players recruitment

As much as I prefer Amad in the 10, I think he needs to be the first choice RWB for the rest of the season. Having him there allows more attacking players on the pitch and we're more dangerous as a result. Despite whatever you make of him, Garnacho is the only direct forward we have and if Bruno is playing deeper, I think Garnacho needs to play. It might be messy or chaotic at times but that is better than stale.

Just atrocious. Let’s buy a completely new team for this fraud. No matter how bad the players are, how much they don’t suit “the system” there’s no way any team of top level professionals should line up and be this confused and ineffectual week in week out. Whatever the result, it doesn’t matter or it shouldn’t, we are so poor.
