Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

How can you show progress when you sell off the players that have carried you in previous seasons?

Sure, lets list all the managers that have show progress 2 months into a new job with one player signed into their bereft team. If you don't need players to show improvements then explain Forest and Chelsea's turnarounds. Explain why teams go out and spend daft money every summer. No point when you can just coach Dalot to be Roberto Carlos.
Rashford and Antony have been carrying us??

We've always looked good with Maz at RCB and Amad, RWB. Lots of nice triangles and enough tenacity. Not sure who should play RCM and RAM though. Mainoo and Bruno respectively? Or if we stick to the Bruno in CM experiment, I think I'd rather see Zirkzee over Mainoo.

He was annoyed with the lack of intensity and energy. Formation doesn’t matter especially at home against a Championship level team.
The intensity and energy comes when the players believe in what they are doing. Constantly chopping and changing things, playing them out of position is not a good recipe for instilling confidence, belief and energy.

Gabriel Clarke asking the right questions.

"Were players played in the wrong positions tonight?"

Amorim - "I dont agree"

Chirst on a bike. Delusional.
Yes, delusional, because Caftards know better player positions than their own manager.

Does anybody honestly think that Ratcliffe is going to sign off on a squad overhaul for this guys tactics and system? I don’t see it personally.

I think we’ll have another manager before the end of this year.
Aye and then you will moan about the next manager 5 minutes into the job. Rinse and repeat.

Amorim was hand picked by the CEO and his appointment was supported by the current sporting director too. Unless things go horribly wrong he will be here next season.

It's the same players who have played different systems under different managers and never shown any intensity.

The team has been crying out for a LWB - not only to have a proper wide option on the left but also so Dalot can move to the right where he has proven he has some value.

So, the club goes out and spends a decent amount on a LWB in January. And what does Amorim do? He starts the natural LWB at RWB and Dalot at LWB. All the wide players inverted and no attacking threat the entire first half.

A disaster that every man and his dog could have foreseen from the get go. What is he thinking? And what happened to our pressing? It was non existent. Just like our ability to move the ball across midfield against relegation fodder.

Amorim might come good but he hasn’t been yet. For me, there’s no progress to detect in the way we play. In fact, we seem to have gotten worse in several aspects.

Ask any football fan out there, any I guarantee you almost all of them would've had Dorgu at LWB and Dalot at RWB, not the other way round.

I think people expecting a massive squad overhaul this summer are going to be disappointed. The club is broke.

It wouldnt just have been an FA Cup defeat though, it would have been yet another one of a whole catalogue of defeats under him and the end of any chance we have of playing in Europe next season.

But it's not a defeat, is it?
Even if the game went into extra time, we were winning all day. Second half we showed completely different face and we were comfortably the better team.

You can write another 20 posts hating on Amorim, nothing will change.

Stop with this bullshit experimenting at this stage of the season. Play the players in their preferable position. Do the basics right. And this for the manager
Why though? We'll only be sat here next season saying he needs to implement his style.

Let me guess, he should've reverted back to 4231/433? Those tactics have got our last 2 managers sacked.

Now is the perfect time to back the manager and him drilling in his system, over the next month we have full weeks of training.

Hopefully he can make better selections to be more attacking and maybe realize the type of players needed in this league and what the fans want to see. For 60 mins it looked like every other defeat against teams around us, opposition calm and just picking us off, no threat to them at all.

Yes!
He should try different thing, different players. Find their best position.
And he has shown that every time something is not working, he is a capable of changing it.
It will click, he knows what he is doing.

Some people just can't resist the urge to moan their pain away.

Yes, delusional, because Caftards know better player positions than their own manager.

There were too many wrong footed players making the pitch too narrow first half, but it's funny how everyone is kicking off about Dalot and Dorgu when independent of United, Dalot was mainly playing on the left at AC Milan, and Dorgu has supposedly mainly featured on the right this season

I can’t see this ending well with Amorim. He is a good manager but we’re in such a dire situation with a legacy of abhorrent mismanagement, that this arrangement with a ‘new playing style’ was never going to work. It has instead become another distraction from how poorly the club has been run.

It’s not a plug and play thing with United. It may take another 5 years for us to see any sustained progress. We’ll be flirting with the bottom half of the table until things change from the ground up.

Those days of quick solutions with an established striker and wingback are long gone.

Its not rocket science. I dont need 50 coaching badges to know that playing a right footed wing back at RWB and a left footed one at LWB is much more balanced than whatever the feck he's trying to do.

You were given left footed wingback who has played on the left regularly but you chose to play him on the right and sticking Dalot on the left. Basically, he decided to play players in not in their natural position.

I think he also just realised after half time that it’s better to play Mazraoui on the right, which making use of his ball playing ability. It took him 45 mins to realise.

Some of the decisions he made and the set up is shocking. May be because he hasn’t get to know about his players more than the fans because at least the fans have watched these players week in week out for years while he only been here for around 3 months.

And the solution to our financial worries is investing even more in a manager that has shown absolutely nothing?
People are delusional about this squad Ten Hag built.

Ratcliffe not so much though after sacking him:

"No. I think there’s one little crossover, which is that you can’t win the America’s Cup, unless you arrive at the America’s Cup with a boat that could win the America’s Cup.

"Same in Formula One. I mean you put Max Verstappen in a Williams, he’s not going to win a Formula One championship. And with football it’s the same with the squad in a way. That’s the parallel for me.

"You can’t win anything in football if your squad isn’t good enough to win something.

"The quality of the squad is a bit like the speed of the boat. That’s the only parallel really."

I absolutely hate 4 wide players all inverted.

Just try a right footed player at RWB and left footed at LWB and let them overlap and cross the ball and cut backs please.

Is so blatantly obvious isn’t it.

I don’t personally like how he sets us up to start games with defensive WBs, but I can at least understand him not starting games with the likes of Amad at WB when the opposition is fresh. That system looks most effective in the 2nd half when the opposition tires, like it did tonight.

But if you are gonna play more defensive WBs in the first half, at least play them on the side where they receive the ball from the CBs across their body facing up the line on their stronger foot, rather than facing backwards.

We are so easy to press with inverted WBs. The ball either has to go back to the CB, or inside to the CM who is obviously always pressured. It just makes no sense at all.

Good for them, too bad I don't find opinion of the regular fans as important as an actual professional manager's on that matter.
