Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

What makes you think we won't sign one?
Well, it's all a bit underwhelming, isn't it? None of Tel, Bailey or Nkunku really seem like what he wants. Or what we want. Maybe we get one of them but I can't see any of them turning our attack around.

Not what he wants or we want?!

I’m sorry but that makes literally zero sense

Palace playing a 3-4-3 with powerful fast players. Whilst we are playing it with a good portion of players who are the polar opposite.
We need fast power full wingbacks and a powerful fast goal scorer.
Anourin didint sign zirkzee, Hojlund, Dalot and co who quite simply are not good enough.

If he improves after a couple of Jan signings, absolutely.
If he remains as shite, I think their track record tells us he’ll pay the price.

In football you earn time.
Track record? They’ve had 1 manager & given him a new contract and then sacked him 3 months later. They’ll give him time.

Stop caring. This season is done. All about europa.
I am sorry I can't stop caring if we continue lingering above the relegation zone. ( We won't get relegated) This invites so much negativity that I don't think the team will be able to reset mentally for the next season.

I didn’t see Thursday’s match but I understand that the two key takeaways were that:

1. We looked much better with an attacking wingback, rather than two defensive ones;

2. Mainoo played really well in the 10 position.

Can anyone explain why neither of those key points were retained for the start of today’s match?
Because !
Can't believe I'm saying this, but you're absolutely right here
Saying that feels good, admit it.
Personally, I'd get Lenin first, or maybe Gavrilo Princip.
Deep cuts with the Princip hit. Just imagine how much better our football would be if we snuffed that ratfeck Princip. Boils my nuggets just thinking about it.

He’ll be gone by the summer. I’d be astounded if a replacement is not being discussed already.
You seem to post a lot when results don’t go our way , go follow city for yourself or the scousers you wouldn’t have to post so much

So we go back to 4231 which was also shite and the new manager also gets the sack.

It’s the players. Sick of posters blaming the manager in here.
Exactly, we were a bit worse under Ten Hag before he was sacked. Now we have a new formation and we’re just as bad. We need players that can keep the ball and we also need to add some physicality, we get bullied very easily.

We were not far off top 4, and if we had a manager who could get results we could be in there. Our run was easy, city collapsed completely. Instead, we had an even WORSE collapse because Amorrim wanted to put square pegs in round holes.

We were 14th when he took over, City collapsing is irrelevant, even collapsing they are better than us. We aren’t one of the four best teams in the league, anyone thinking we are is living in a dreamworld.

Of course we should be doing better but we are a mid table, we were last season as well.

So who do people think would do a better job with this squad, people keep saying anybody. Does anybody have a surname. Would a new manager love having this squad and a chance there isn't much money to spend in the summer? Ones mentioning Conte, is big issue is exactly not having money spend.

Track record that thry happily fecked off ETH after 3 months, despite the new contract and fecked off Ashworth after 3 months despite chasing him all Summer and paying big compensation for him.

Oh…. And then there’s Nice, where they have churned through managers.

Amorim aint getting time without earning it.

Here’s the reality and nuance that no one can seem to grasp…

The team is extremely fragile mentally, we know this. We started well today, but this team NEEDS a goal to build confidence, and when that doesn’t happen they regress and they start to lose faith in what they’re doing, couple this with poor players and you allow a team to grow into the game and as soon as we concede we lose more confidence. Goals change games and because we have utterly awful forward players we rarely score first.

Will admit we do lose too many physical battles

Not what he wants or we want?!

I’m sorry but that makes literally zero sense
Eh? We have a fair idea what he wants from his number 9, don't we? He's not getting it from Rasmus or Zirkzee and none of the 3 mentioned really fit the profile either, do they? Or do you disagree?

Sure, they might give us something in one of the 10 roles, replace Rashford but we all want a goalscorer, no? Someone who'll be on the end of things. I just don't see any of those guys being an answer to that.

I am getting desperate for a ray of light here, so would love to identity some underlying progress.

If anyone can point out what these patterns of play are that we're apparently embedding I'd be extremely interested to hear. Because while we're clearly playing differently from under Ten Hag, I'm failing to see anything resembling the building blocks of a new exciting style of play.

This gets overlooked. If we continue to be absolutely terrible, tools will be downed and the vibe is gone. At that point, Amorim won't be able to recover.

And of course people will now tell me to get rid of players downing tools, but we can't replace the whole squad and neither should we for a manager that hasn't shown anything worthwhile yet

First 15-20 was the best we’ve played in a while I thought. That’s what Amorim wants. As to why it slowly unraveled I don’t know.

This. We were out-muscled by a much stronger side. I can put some of this down to a recent away trip to Romania and tired legs, but the levels of fitness on display today was night and day.

I don't even think it's that. We have a weak slow team, mid week games or not.

Deep cuts with the Princip hit. Just imagine how much better our football would be if we snuffed that ratfeck Princip. Boils my nuggets just thinking about it.
My chum's Masters dissertation was on the footballers killed in WWI. They British actually formed footballer's battalions to fight at the front and they were slaughtered. No Princip, no WWI, no need to off Hitler who would have been an obscure painter in Vienna.

Horrible, horrible tactics. Loss is solely on the manager.

Mainoo is not a false 9. I'm willing to bet he has never played false 9 all his life. We got a player who played false 9 in a cup final and beat fecking man city, but no, he played mainoo.

Bruno was too deep. Why is Bruno having to bring the ball out of defence from the CBs?!

Every fan and his dog can tell you Dalot cannot play on the left, and Maz is NOT a RWB. Why keep playing them there? ZERO threats from WBs in a system which WBs are SUPPOSED to be the main attacking channels. WHY?

NO midfield, leaving only Ugarte. Palace's players ran through the whole length of the pitch leaving all our physically inferior players trailing in his wake. Isnt this what ETH did??
It was bad.

The sort of thing you try in pre-season, but then he hasn’t had a preseason.

It’s depressing, but I am prepared to give the manager a pre-season and a summer window (as most managers get) before I start lambasting the guy.

The seasons been a write since before Amorin started. Just let him experiment and get to know his players. Trust the process and hope by April he'd have it all figured out and a full pre-season under his belt, we will be firing again ready for the start of next season.

Goals. If we score it’s a different game, we have the worst/underdeveloped forwards in the league so every game is so stacked against us.

Mate no striker in the world is going to score if there are little to no chances being created.

Maybe adapt, try different options, don't play 5 at the back constantly.
There were some chances created today, but no striker that could bully the opposite team. The two guys that should be goal threats have 5 league goals between them.
It was noticable when CP started to be more physical how they were able to turn it in their favour.
The same problem Against Brighton and Newcastle.
The players move the ball slower and run into losing possesion where they can be easily hit out of position.
I know the like 5-6 defenders is quite catchy, but at least Dalot plays much higher.

I don't want to give him *too* much credit, but it's clear that the Premier League isn't the priority for him or us this season anymore, and so he's experimenting in the league in a way that you might normally see in the cup competitions. I don't think it's a coincedence we've looked much better in the Europa League and FA Cup when he is picking the team that he genuinely trusts the most.

There's no way, in a Europa League last 16 game or an FA Cup Quarter-Final he's trying out shit like playing Mainoo as a false 9.

In order to score, you need to create chances, something we aren't doing.

How can u simultaneously shift the blame away from Amorim saying those are not his players, but in the same breath blame forwards for not scoring when we aren't creating chances for them. Mind boggling.

unless our striker per say we’re injured, starting mainoo was rediculous, this type of decisions only works in established teams like liv in the recent years or city.
Said it before get to proverbial 40 points and then try younger players in league, focus on europa

First 15-20 was the best we’ve played in a while I thought. That’s what Amorim wants. As to why it slowly unraveled I don’t know.
Tiredness. Problem we have is a club this size needs to be in Europe and prefably the CL, when it would actually have been better if we weren't just for fitness levels and getting time on the training pitch. Financially however it would be a disaster.

How many new players was Ten Hag missing to complete his set? 3? A CF, a fullback, a wing?

How many new players is Amorim missing to complete his set? 8?

If we have no money to spend, why go for the manager who is not going to get the tools he needs? Ten Hag made some abysmal signings but he didn’t make those decisions on his own. Those “helpers” are largely still here, including a scouting department that thought Zirkzee was the answer.

So assuming RA does not get his new squad, when does he have to turn results around? If we get 1 or 2 in per window that’s probably what we can hope for. We need new forwards, new wingbacks, a new keeper, a new CB or 2 depending on Licha’s injury. That’s 6 minimum, 7 likely. When and how does RA assemble his squad with no money?

And when that squad at long last takes the pitch, will we be seeing a style of football that takes our breath away?
