Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

I think he’s doing an amazing job exposing just how limited and poor most of our players are. This is the best way. Too many of you are caring too much about results and this season, we wrote this season off the second we kept Hag, so just sit back and watch the process unfold and hopefully we can do something in the Europa.

3 wins? Not sure what you're referring to there. There's no cherry-picking: those 3 have been everpresent in our infuriating mediocrity over the years. And the failing has been for year, not just today. Grow up.

Man United 4 - 0 Everton
Man United 0 - 3 Bournemouth
Man United 2 - 3 Forest
Man United 3 - 1 Southampton
Man United 0 - 2 Newcastle
Man United 0 - 2 Palace.
Man United 1 - 3 Brighton

That Southampton match we know how it went . So, if you still think we needed better players to win them at home then may be you are the one who needs a "Life" rather than blindly supporting an awful manager.

Again, I am talking based on facts. If you don't have it, please spare me. Don't even bother .

Do you think these players could do better in a different system? Or are they good enough to play for United in the first place? Have you seen anything from a majority of these players that makes you believe there is a manager that can get them firing? If they’re is then just sack Amorim and get that guy. The reality is, a lot of these players have to go because they were signed to play for Ten Hag in a system he abandoned
Yes I do think they could do better without being amazing, we created feck all against crystal palace at home. Not hard to imagine we could do better than that

In hindsight, we should have just stuck with Ruud until the end of the season. Amorim was right to push to wait until next summer to get in the job.

@Toshey I don't think anyone should be judging Amorim -too- harshly right now, given that they are Ten Hags squad.

But we really have been abysmal since he took over and there's no real feeling at OT for happy clapping. I don't care what you think of our players, getting done by an awful, awful Crystal Palace side at home is just not acceptable for any manager. Ten Hag got done 4-nothing by this absolute nothing team, and now Amorim has been done by them. It's nothing new or anything, but it's not really something to celebrate right now is it?

At this point , as has already been said, some academy players might boost morale, a change of formation just to show a bit of adaptability, some motivation for the players, anything at this point would be enough to get people at least on side. But it's not happening for Ruben at the minute.
I think this is a fair and balanced take.

Honestly all he is doing is exposing his own limitations.

is it possible the current system being coached 'better' or more over time would also improve that? because it looks nothing like his system at sporting

Weird how you include some wins in that but then exclude the City and Liverpool games. Pathetic.

Not at all really. These players have proven to us over and over again they’re garbage, they lost 7-0 at Anfield among other embarrassments. They’re awful. Is he doing a perfect job? No. No one would. No one should have any interest in playing counter attack and vibes football. We need to build a proper team.

Really amazing work. Sit back and enjoy spending a fortune going to OT to watch United play dull football with 7 defenders every week. Viva Amorim!

Except plenty in here would now want that and then moan like mad when we do.

When Tanhag changes his principles we actually won something and he kept his Job (FA Cup is one of them). The problem with Ten Hag was when he said he wanted to change to a transition football (what ever that was) but still kept his kamikaze principles of forgetting that a midfield exists.
And we’re still on course to win something. The only team that’s unbeaten in Europe. Still in the FA cup. The issue is our home form.

But those same players had some instances where they won some games, had played some nice football etc.

So what gives?

How are you going to do that if we lose out on champions league money and sponsorship money because we finish 14th? You do understand the longer we stay out of the top 4 the worse the finances get?

We should be doing better but we were never going to finish in the Champions League places this season. This is a really poor squad who simply can’t compete physically.

We’ve got Shaw and Mount who are crocks, Casemiro and Eriksen whose legs have gone. Rashford and Antony we are so desperate to get rid of we’re loaning them out and 2 strikers who are arguably worse than any starters in the league. Throw in that Mainoo, Garnacho and Yoro all very young and it’s just not a very good squad.

We should be better than this but we are a mid table team at best at this moment in time.

You're now giving ETH credit to defend Amorrim? Good grief. ETH was on course to getting this bad before he was sacked. He did not do better than Amorrim, he was simply prevented from getting where Amorrim now is.
How the heck am I giving ETH credit with that post. I am backing Amorim on the basis these aren't players he woukd recruit.

So who do people think his team lineup should be? Not including the two new lads or Licha. You keep saying it is five at the back, which with the personel we have it is, so who would you chose, game in, game out, as it would have to be, to make it two attacking wingbacks? It is just a general question by the way.

Onana < Henderson
Mazraoui < Munoz
Martinez < Guehi
Maguire > Lacroix
Yoro = Richards
Dalot < Mitchell
Ugarte = Lerma
Bruno > Hughes
Garnacho > Kamada
Amad > Sarr
Mainoo < Mateta

4 v 5 Palace + 2 ties.

Then they brought Eze on who would easily be one of our best players.

Mid table players = mid table results.

They just want Ole. There is no reasoning with it.

There’s no revisionism here, before he came we’d played:

11 games, 4 wins, 3 draws, 4 losses.
1.36 points per game.

(1.36 points over 24 games puts us 11th)

Ruben has:

13 matches, 4 wins, 2 draws, 7 losses.
1.07 points pers game

1.07 for the season would put us 16th, below Everton and hovering just above Wolves and relegation.
The only reason we’re aren’t looking at relegation is because Amorim wasn’t our coach for the first 11 games of the season.

The first manager got sacked because he was failing badly, we needed someone in to fix it but we’ve managed to get one who’d play 9 defenders if he could.
The first manager was playing with a team he created for the most part, Amorim isn't.

He has been bought in to clear out the squad and build a new team, let him bloody do it.

We missed out this season on CL money and when we did get in the CL under ETH he got us out of it pretty quick.

You do realize how ridiculous that sounds , right ? You cherry pick 3 players out of 11 and put a generic statement that it's the same group of players continuously failing for 3-4 years ?
3 wins !! Let that sink it in.
Maguire wasn't first choice for three seasons under ETH and I'm sure Rangnick dropped him too.

You're moving the goalposts. On one side you want to point to the league table to justify that our quality is actually true to being miles off the top 4. Then when you're presented with context about how this is not the case you are deflecting on the different style, rather than acknowledging our quality is not as bad as the league table suggests.

I know the different style is a big issue but even despite this, Amorim will be the first one to admit that he has not been good enough with the results.

How am I moving the goalposts by demonstrating that two managers this season can't keep us in the top half of the table. It only proves my point that the squad isn't good enough.
