Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Please, lock this thread during games. Just please.

If we were going to be this shit we should have just kept ETH till the end of the season and bought in Amorim in the summer, with the right players and time to implement tactics.
I can't understand why we paid ETH so much money to get the sack now, so we can then pay a lot of money to get Amorim in now instead of the summer for what?
Its not like he could save our season or anything by bringing him in early, we are absolutely awful.
Omg!

It’s clearer with every game passing that it’s a huge mistake not to sack ETH in the summer!
This team has the right mindset now.

Feels like this system needs pacy centre backs, which we just don't have. Fine when we're playing deeper against Liverpool and Arsenal, but when we're expected to play higher and control the game it's a clear weakness.
Very clear weakness. And it's not this system, to play a high line you need CB's with pace but for some reason we keep buying Maguire, deLigt, Lindelof, Martinez etc.

In any system we lack, pace, mobility and athleticism. We are way behind the curve, if we can’t be compact and play in transition too many of our players simply aren’t up to it irrespective of the formation.

Or Ruud who actually played to the players’ strength instead of trying to reinvent the wheel with this bunch.

What scares me is him getting expensive players in the summer, it still doesnt workout and then he leaves the club with expensive system players that the next manager wont use. We then start yet again from scratch..

Maybe he should play more defensive players at home, 6 isn't enough.

I'm not sure what people are seeing in this guy to have any faith that he's the right man.

Sporting fans, or those who watched Ruben at his previous clubs, what are the key upsides to his system?

So much has been made of it, but I’m struggling to see what the three at the back formation is meant to achieve. We’re conceding regularly, creating very little going forward, and struggling to keep possession.

Growing concern that if this system doesn’t get results, or isn’t suited to the Premier League, is there even a plan B?

I can understand if we struggle to score, as we lack good goalscorers. It's a personnel issue.

But why are we conceding goals so easily? We have a good defence with Ugarte mopping up in midfield. 2 defensive WBs. This is a tactical issue.

Lose this and teams below win their game in hand we are 7 points of the relegation zone - after 22 games. I call that a relegation battle.

There is no battle. We could lose every game and it'd take 18th and 19th months to overtake us

Poor team selection to start with. That's the slowest most lethargic united team i've seen picked in ages. Then he waits till Brighton score twice to make the subs he should have made at half time. Very annoying.

When do we just cut our losses and accept we're not a 3 at the back team? With a squad as poor as ours we have to play to what few strengths we have or the PL will continue to punish us.

By and large, the majority of his team selections have been shite, especially at home.

My 3 at the back and defensive wingbacks shall always play.

This is where games are being lost, there's been very few games where the opposition have absolutely dominated a game through and through the games where results are disappointing is on the cusp of poor team selection.

The statistics prove that United lose when fullbacks are playing as the wing backs, even Anthony who's heading out is a more positive influence then Maz as the wingback. I've made countless posts about Kobbies time in the youth system he is not a central midfielder, it's permissable for Erik / Southgate to make those mistakes with his inclusion in that position given the calibre of their management (average) but Amorim doing the same thing is a red herring against his talent identification.

He is going to have to try something different in the wing back positions. They’re too vital in this system to just be given up the positions to two players completely unsuited to wing back. I know we don’t have natural fits at the club but at least play players there with the attributes. Amass is there, give him a go:

Its not working.

Things need to be changed.

The reality is that the personnel will be the same, so something must give.

I fear he will lose his job if this continues. There is no way the ownership puts up with these types of results for much longer.

He’s somehow made us worse then under ETH.

It’s been a complete disaster so far.
I've got my own doubts over Amorim, but lets not rewrite history.

The performances away to City, Liverpool and Arsenal alone were better than any under Ten Hag. We are a complete non entity away to big teams under him.

We're fecked. He's never going to change this system and we clearly dont have the players to play it. How many more defeats at OT can we keep on accepting before something gives?
