Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Has brought a spirit and fight into the team which was lacking previously and it does wonders for players which were written off by many before.

As confidence grows the need for replacements will be less and the obvious ones will be replaced.

It wouldn't surprise me if three of those players left before the end of the window. The only one that will still be at United will be Eriksen.
Antony is going to take a subsidised loan to ship out.

Can't see anyone taking Casemiro in Jan. We'll do well to move on in the summer with a year still to go on that mad 350k a week deal. Must be the worst contract we've ever given out.

I don't see him being happy sitting about not playing. If there was an opportunity to go to Saudi I think he'd take it at this stage of his career. I think the issue may be Ineos will want a fee for him which is where the stumbling block may be.

The Saudis aren't stupid, they will want him for nothing.

Is this the blueprint against top sides in away games? We rode our luck today, we could barely make any passes even before the red card

Is suffer his synonym for struggle ?
Several PL managers use the term. In this context it seems to mean work hard out of possession, especially during extended spells when you are forced to defend. There may be an element of being organised defensively, winning duals, blocks, goal-line clearances etc.

In recent years there have been several high profile United forwards who rarely, if ever, showed a willingness to "suffer" out of possession. Some managers have let certain players reserve their energy for attacking moments.

We played 60 minutes with 10 men. We were winning and quite comfortable until Dalot’s sending off.
We were happy to give up possession and play it on the counter before the sending off. I don’t think this approach is sustainable just like it wasn’t under Jose. It’s understandable atm though.

The Saudis aren't stupid - they're moving away from being aging player's last payday.

It's a name that grabs attention, my friend is over there now working. He went to a game back in November. Mahrez, Toney and Kessie were playing, he sent me a few video clips in a near empty stadium.

He described as walking football, horrific to watch. Casemiro could comfortably go over there and play a few years. The Saudis will know if a 40 year old Ronaldo can look good Casemiro should be fine.

I think goes myself.

Rashford really is an idiot, like so many players now also he could hve become so much better under Amorim

I think the issue with Rashford was his former success. For the manager to say he wasn't happy with his demeanor/ body language behind closed doors speaks volumes.

This isn't to demean Marcus in any way but a new environment is likely the best solution for him to reinvigorate himself. He's 100% not good enough for United on account of how he has chosen to make a contribution but even if he leaves this season he's still been a pivotal player in previous season when the club domestically and competitively have been absolutely woeful.

It’s more about people around him i feel. Extremely poorly advised.

Nah, the usual blueprint will be what we did to City and Liverpool.

This was the blueprint for when we come up against bent refs, but don't stop yourself from having a moan.

He has a set style of play that we can get behind.

He has picked up some big wins which gives you confidence.

You must not fall for the media narrative to fill the news agenda 24/7 everytime we have a bad result. It's not a crisis if we lose the next match. It's going to take time to turn things around, but we have the rite guy.

So...

- Won away to City
- Draw and could have won away to Liverpool
- Won away to Arsenal with 10 men for 60 minutes

Nonsense, as was proven today.

Rotating your squad is absolutely key to ensure you avoid injuries when you have a busy schedule as all premier league teams do, and it's absolutely key from a morale perspective to ensure your full squad feels valued and you get the required impact from the bench or that you can cover for injuries properly with confident players, and not have to bring back players who have been frozen out because of 2 injuries. Also builds internal competition and prevents complacency.

It's a big part of why Sir Alex was as consistent as he was, year after year. You would think United supporters should know about how important rotation is better than anyone.

Can you name a season where Fergie consistently played a Cup Keeper? Or just even regularly rotated a clear number 1 with a backup?

Off the top of my mind, he played Ben Foster in the league cup final in 2009 against Spurs. He always used the backup keeper in the league cup and the few times we were in the Europa league/UEFA Cup. FA Cup he would sometimes rotate the keepers.

I'm a huge fan of the guy. He has made us look more organised and there are definite improvements with our general play. We can't go gung-ho and toe-to-toe with every team away from home and the tactics he selected for today's game were spot on. Nullify Arsenal's threat and hope to hit them the other way. Where possible, control the midfield and gradually gain ground into their half. We gave the ball away too much in the first half (especially from the keeper), but we gradually improved in the game. Under him, we are going to be tougher to play against, and over time I can see us improving at the other end with our goal scoring.

My only concern for him is that we are quite limited with our goal threat. We're quite similar to Arsenal in the sense that we're both missing that big, reliable player up top to get the goals.

Pretty sure he also played Lindegaard in some cup competitions

Very clever coach. His use of Collyer today was super smart and progressive to try to win the game ( which might seem counter intuitive given he's a defensive midfielder). Zirkzee likes to drop deep, and Collyer was clearly given licence to break forwards when we had a counter opportunity and run even beyond the striker. He has both the athleticism and the intelligence to do that and it worked pretty well for being down to 10

Yeah. We regularly saw the backup goalkeeper while Sir Alex was in charge, whether it was kuszczack (for the life of me can't remember how to spell it), foster, lindegaard, howard, whoever

It's worth mentioning he's had a very very difficult set of games since he took over. In 13 games we've played Arsenal (twice), City, Liverpool and Spurs all away and in form Newcastle, Forest and Bournemouth at home (although we.should be beating Bournemouth and Forest).
Let's hope the upcoming (so called) easier run starts bringing some wins.

As I previously posted. Southampton is his first real test. I am beginning to feel a bit more confident about it as well.

We’ve got to show the same level of desire against Southampton and Brighton next. The last 2 games were great but you've got to treat every fixture like it’s the biggest game of the season, which we have struggled with for years. How many times have we got a result against one of the top teams and followed it up with a defeat to Palace or Wolves!?

He certainly seems to be creating a steel and a belief though.

Under Amorin, there's a character, spirit and fight in the team that I haven't seen for a long long time.

He's not afraid to make decisions that are best for the team, including using substitutions bravely and tactically and the dropping those providing an unwelcome distraction.
Spot on.

It’s not just desire though, we know this squad is more suited to sitting deep, that they struggle against pace on the counter and struggle to create and score against teams that sit back. None of that is going to have changed based on the last two performances.

Playing with more fight and desire (and cutting out silky mistakes/red cards) is going to help but we are going to get exposed by so called lesser teams. I do results are going to be very up and down for rest of the season hopefully it will trend upwards.

He needs to be given time, you need to get behind him and the team, even if you feel like you don’t like player A or player B so much. I’m not a United supporter as I have my own club (Benfica) but now I am here with all of you for this journey.

It’s not going to be easy, there will be a lot of “storms” on the way but trust me, he is him.

He can handle everything the press throws at him with ease, he’s young and willing to learn and got lots of room for improvement in many areas.

I know today’s display wasn’t the best in the attacking sense but we also need to be reasonable enough to understand the team’s moment and who you just faced. Away at the Emirates against an Arsenal team that desperately needed that W to turn it around after that Newcastle game, it was never going to be easy.

Until the send off it was a pretty even game but as you’d expect things change but there wasn’t a lot the team could do but fight and show grit and that’s exactly what we did and we need to applaud that and be positive instead of looking for things to complain about.

Bruno was magnificent, Maguire is a completely different player under Amorim I can hardly recognise him, Ugarte and Mainoo make a good partnership.

Take my hat off to him, he made some difficult decisions in leaving out Garnacho and Rashford and that sent a clear message to the rest of the squad.

He’s already figured out who he can trust, it was easy from an outside perspective for the likes of me, players like Casemiro, Eriksen, Antony, Rashford are nowhere near the level that is expected in this football club. You can tell by their limited usage in the past weeks that they’ve been crossed out, the board needs to take control of the situation and offload them.

Bring in a LWB, CAM and ST and this man will cook. He needs full backing and if previous managers have had their backing, he deserves the same. He’s known for making omelettes with no eggs but that doesn’t mean he can make miracles with this squad.

One thing that leaves a bit of a sour taste in my mouth is Mctominay’s departure, I know he wasn’t exactly loved by this fan base but I could have seen him being a very important player under him. He’d fit his system like a glove and was a player that always showed passion when on the pitch (in my honest opinion).

Excited for you guys and what the future brings. Good luck guys and take good care of him.

I love how Amorim has moulded the expectations of the fanbase.

The language of ‘false dawns’ is no longer relevant because Amorim has already showed his tactical plan, the subsequent enormity of the task at hand and explained that there will be both good and bad days. Every win and loss feels like a step in the right direction.

Yes, I think you're right. Not sure we have enough goals in the team yet to always beat teams we should be beating that sit deeper against us. The cups may suit us better right now than the league.

Well we are scrapping and fighting, so have started at least competing away from home against better sides. Not sure we necessarily deserve to have gotten the results we have, but I like the attitude and you make your own luck.

Now, we have to actually make it count and clean up over the next two weeks with three home wins against very beatable sides to get our season back on track.
