If this was 442 vs 442 on a local park, yeah absolutely, the issue is much more complex, it is one of belief and confidence, the players did not buy in to ETH because the first thing he did was lead us to massive defeats, then every time he tried to implement different tactics they didn't work.... if Amorim can get some positive performances and the players can see his tactics and coaching working they will buy in and will go from strength to strength, even the most motivated person will lose faith and their effort will drop off if they are asked to keep performing a task which does not make sense or have the desired outcome.Even if the coaching improves, i don;t think there will ever be improvements enough with the current squad to make them a top side.
Professional footballers should not need extensive coaching to get the basics right of completing relatively easy passes under pressure , taking right options at least half the time, putting an effort into pressing etc etc but we have players lacking the ability or drive to implement these basics of the game.
It is by no means a guarantee that Amorim can get this group of players to turn a corner, but if he starts well they will be onboard for the journey and just watch the difference it will make to how these players suddenly seem like different beasts.
You only have to look at somebody like Havertz at Arsenal to see the difference belief, confidence and the right tactics make
