Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Change the system until the end of season. Scout players for 343 and use the preseason to restart. This is unsustainable

Presumably he was clear before being hired that he would play his system. So, he's doing what he was hired to do...

Buck falls on ownership. They should have got Amorim in the summer, or stuck with Ruud as interim with a view to preparing the squad for Amorim at a later date.
If his system is to play 6 defensive players and offer nothing in attack then he is to blame for that.

No worse than anybody else in a red jersey. Don’t know what people think cheering a player coming off is going to do for the team.
Yep, it's only acceptable if they're cheering that the manager has tried to take steps to halt the flow.
And it has a little.

But having dead weight of an extra centre back is helping nothing. Having 2 giant defenders hasn't helped on 2 crosses.

I really want him to succeed. But he needs to adapt his system. He said it himself - wins will buy him time. He's not winning consistently now. So he has to change something.

Or have just sacked the last idiot in the summer, like any other fecking club would've done.

Don't worry though, Ineos will make the regular fans pay for this - watch them clawback the lost revenue with the season ticket price rises next season.

Agreed.
If we stick to this for much longer the board might have to make an absolutely embarrassing emergency sacking.

The fact Amorim himself has even addressed the S word 10 games in is pretty worrying.

"All ten outfield Newcastle players have had a shot or created a chance."

No defending that. We are insanely easy to play against.

Don’t see him surviving the next couple weeks.

They might find that the previously limitless pool of fans dries up a bit if they try and make it £66 a ticket for season tickets too.

You can tweak the tactics and the system. Look at the state of the current system, we offer nothing going forward! It’s fecking pathetic.
We offered nothing going forward when Ten Hag used different tactics. When will you realise our team is shite and they can't be bothered?

No because then we have to go through this transition at the beginning of next season. Better to get this shit out of the way.
Ideally it would come with a full pre-season and influence on transfers. But it's a useless hypothetical, of course.

He simply has to be pragmatic, but if he insists on being the next Ange postecoglu, thst is the sword he will die on

Even at our worst we always had a goal threat but this team is just pointless in attack. As soon as the opposition scores the game feels over

I am not going to change my tune: Amorim is a good coach. However, as the weeks pass it's becoming harder to see how he's a good fit for our squad.

The collapse that's leading us to the Championship is on INEOS. It was their call to go for a coach that was far from an obvious fit for our players.

All of last season's talk of a game model vanished. There was no plan. If Amorim doesn't survive I see no chance of us playing 343 again, which just shows the drift and lack of direction from above.

There's no difference in how the club is run today than how it was run under Woodward and
Arnold.
Agreed. The appointment made little sense in that regard. Doesn’t mean he’s a bad manager. Just means he might be the wrong one.

But he needs to adapt now and tweak his ideas and his formation. He has no other choice.

Of he doesn't he'll be sacked this season.

I'd understand if we're inconsistent, but we're in a free fall. The players have lost all confidence. Without results he'll lose the dressing room and there won't be a learning curve. He can change in the summer after buying the right players and having time to train his players.

Maybe try a formation they are used too? remind me didn’t the previous manager get sacked playing 4-3-3?

The form has been poor all season, so I’m not sure going back to that failing system is the answer.

I know its early still and blaming the players is easier- even if at times it is warranted, but sometimes things dont translate across from lower leagues.

Ten hag wasnt great, but I dont think this team is THIS bad. Looking at the possibility of 6 defeats out of 7 in the league and 3 consecutive home defeats.

Something isnt right that isnt just the players, this is by far and away the worst I have ever seen a United side play.

I hope Plan A works out for him in a years time because he is dead on track to not even make the average of 2 seasons at this club.

Don’t agree. We won 2 trophies under Ten Hag. Sure we were not good enough this season but a decent manager should be able to get a tune out of these players. And if can’t well he is fecked because we cannot afford to change the whole squad.

That's silly talk.
But getting to the summer is looking a stretch right now.
It's not just the fact that we're losing a bunch, it's the how. Can't even point to improved performances anymore.

All eggs in the post-Arsenal set of fixtures.

People were sneering at those of us with worries in the previous defeats patronising us saying look at the numbers not the scoreline.
They've disappeared now funnily enough.

Yeah I think he's a talented coach too, but this sort of managerial signing defeats the entire point of a structure. The structure is meant to pair a manager with the right squad.

We just went for the biggest/most promising name on the market again. If we really wanted him, why didn't we get him this summer gone? Or waited until the next summer, and just had an interim for the season. Or guess, hired a permanent manager of a higher caliber suitable for the squad with the intention of sacking and replacing him with Amorin in the summer.

He should have taken off Zirkzee with someone else instead of singling him out and throwing him to the crowd’s mercy. That’s pisspoor man management.
