Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Was highly criticised on this place for questioning his appointment saying he was no better than Ten Hag.

I take no satisfaction in been proven right on this one

I don't think he's got a clue on how to fix this :(
Think he not unreasonably thought we'd have a better squad than they were showing.
And that he'd have a lot of time to bed the system in. He's very wrong. Ruud used up the piss easy games.

He’s making mistakes but this is a dreadful group of players. I knew this and the Liverpool games were write offs. Amorim is going to be under huge pressure when we play Southampton at home but he has to somehow start getting results from then onwards.

Would get rid of every single player, board member and even the guys running the hot dog stand before Amorim. He’s not Jesus, he can’t perform miracles but he NEEDS to be given time. It’s the players fault for being so bad, it always has been.

 Inept  Numpties  Eroding  Our  Stature.

Ratcliffe and crew have made a this club a laughing stock. They have have riled up the fanbase with their price increases and budget cuts while replicating the ineptitude of the previous administration in recruitment.

We were told it would take a long time to rectify the poor decision-making of the past, but they couldn't have gotten off to a worse start.

Why do you think he's the answer though?

No, no, it’s Ten Hag, and it’s still Ten Hag. You think losing 4-0 most weeks was positive for the players? Things would just change when someone else came in to manage a squad completely destroyed?
You are right - we were fantastic before him and fantastic since he's left.

THE PLAYERS ARE feckING RUBBISH

Agreed. The appointment made little sense in that regard. Doesn’t mean he’s a bad manager. Just means he might be the wrong one.

But he needs to adapt now and tweak his ideas and his formation. He has no other choice.

Does he even know how to change? 343 is what made Amorim. It's what he knows best. If he suddenly goes to 433 or 4231, the positioning drills and everything he's honed for years needs to be reworked.

This is just a case of a group of players and a coach just not suiting each other. He wants to keep doing something that he knows our squad can't do and they know they can't do. So nobody is playing with confidence.

It's becoming a death spiral and a hammering at Liverpool might just cause it to explode.

He might turn out to be a good manager, but I don’t see the hype personally. Very much AVB vibes right now.

Changing systems midway through the season was rookie mistake.

Why don't these managers get it - THE PREMIER LEAGUE IS ALL ABOUT PHYSICALITY AND INTENSITY.
He can’t have watched any of Utds recent games against Newcastle when they have physically beasted us, particularly in midfield. To pick Casemiro and Eriksen shows he just doesn’t get the physical difference in this league.

Casemiro just dropped one of the worst halves of football I’ve ever seen there.

He should have taken off Zirkzee with someone else instead of singling him out and throwing him to the crowd’s mercy. That’s pisspoor man management.
Oh, you feel bad about poor little Joshua who couldn't bother to move out of walking pace?
Get a grip, hope this is the last we've seen from this guy. He should become a The Weeknd cosplayer.

Why not 3-5-2? It's still a three at the back formation and we get extra legs in midfield and attack. It's also not a million miles away from 3-4-3 either.

You've not been proven right about anything, though

Don’t recall this many posters making excuses for ETH because “the players are the problem”. Amorim is doing a horrible job so far. Hopefully he can turn it around but there’s no point sugar-coating it. His job is to get the most out of the squad he’s got and he’s failing woefully at the moment.

I know its early still and blaming the players is easier- even if at times it is warranted, but sometimes things dont translate across from lower leagues.

Ten hag wasnt great, but I dont think this team is THIS bad. Looking at the possibility of 6 defeats out of 7 in the league and 3 consecutive home defeats.

Something isnt right that isnt just the players, this is by far and away the worst I have ever seen a United side play.
Chelsea fan? Ask yourself how many our line up today you would want.

It is just as bad as it looks. It's a terrible squad that was lucky to finish 8th last season and the first XI didn't get improved at all in the summer.

I don't mind conceding two goals if we can score two ourselves. Took Zirkzee off and created two incredible chances to go 2-2. Can't blame him for that.

We must sign a couple goal scorers in January.

We can't keep blaming the squad for everything. We paid a lot to sack ETH and then bring him in. Accept things will take time but the recent results and performances are terrible.

We can say our squad is nowhere near being title challengers, but there's a lot more this side can do.

My hope is still that as the fixture list calms down, we'll see better football and an improvement in results. Achieving CL may become out of reach but that doesn't make the season a write off. Need to see progress in 2025.

It’s a tough job, the toughest there is. He would have known that. Several managers are appointed all of the time with all those circumstances. It’s part of the course. We don’t need to excuses.
It's not really excuses. Amorim started off by saying there would be bumps in the road. He knew the squad was terrible and would've expected this. Most of us expected this coming into the season.

That doesn't excuse our boards terrible planning. They could have got him months earlier and given him a pre season and some players that would fit him system instead of dropping him in the deep end.

Has to be said this is the first time I've looked at what Amorim has done and thought he's dropped a massive bollock before the balls even been kicked. This was so obviously going to happen, what on earth he was thinking picking those two together.

He needs to learn quickly that he can't get a tune with these players playing this formation. We don't have the wing backs, or the legs in the midfield two. Maybe in a distant future with his own signings it'll work to some extent in the Premier league but if he keeps sticking to it right now it'll inevitably cost him his job. I feel for him because this is genuinely the worst United squad in terms of quality I can remember.

We look worse under him than I’ve ever seen in my 35+ years of supporting.

Really? but Pep's teams have dominated the PL for years with players like David silva, Gundogan, B silva, Foden, Aguero, Zabaleta, Jesus, Navas, Nasri, Mahrez etc etc etc

We are just shit mate. But intensity yes, we lack that, along with quality, determination and work rate.

Cant believe I'm reading posts about the coach being the wrong one for the job, not lasting to the end of the season etc. These are players that haven't done it under any manager here. They were 13th under a manager who built the team!!!

The squad is simply trash, a mishmash of players who don't suit a single style of football. We started with £500k a week in CM that can't even run! In the most physically demanding league in the world. SAF wouldn't get a tune from this team.

The squad needs a rebuild from the ground up. It will take time but we need to back the manager and give him and the club atleast three transfer windows before making a judgment.

There isn't one area of the pitch where the combination of players are one of the 6th best in the league, not defence, midfield or forwards would get into any other decent team as a swap for the group.

Please back the manager, we have seen what trying to adapt the style to the team leads to, that's Ole, that's ETH. It all ends in failure. We are now taking a different approach and need to give it time.
