Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

This is on him im afraid. A child wouldn't start that midfield versus Newcastle.

Looks like hes lost the players already.
It’s not about losing the players, this is their level and that’s the problem. They are physically weak, unfit and average technically.

Oh, you feel bad about poor little Joshua who couldn't bother to move out of walking pace?
Get a grip, hope this is the last we've seen from this guy. He should become a The Weeknd cosplayer.

He won't cut it. You have to have a certain level of talent to play as casual as he does.

You are right - we were fantastic before him and fantastic since he's left.

THE PLAYERS ARE feckING RUBBISH
We’ve never been this bad, and when you let a
manager destroy confidence, belief and run players into the ground week in, week out, this is what you get. There is no quick fix. Keeping Ten Hag as long as we did will cost this club a billion pounds to fix because these players are shot to shit now. You can’t allow that level of failure to become normalised as it did, we’re now seeing the consequences of that decision.

Feels like we've played a few hundred minutes of football with 3 CBs and two fullbacks (as opposed to having an Antony/Amad/Garnacho on one side) and haven't had a shot on target. Why is he still doing it?

Looks like hes lost the players already.

No chance, the players’ confidence is just on the floor because a) they are being asked to actually work hard, b) our results are relegation form and most importantly c) they are getting found out for being really poor players.

They can be behind the manager as much as they want it doesn’t make them capable.

You're right and where will he pluck players from to be like that? These players haven't showed that for awhile

Eriksen and a Casemiro midfield with Zirkzee as a 10 shows that he doesn't really have a clue. That's the least athletic midfield in the league by far.

Yes we have injuries but if Amorim is some genius manager he could come up with something better than that.

I'm actually worried now. This isn't Portugal. These are supreme athletes. Raw skill and nice passing doesn't win in this league.

Don’t recall this many posters making excuses for ETH because “the players are the problem”. Amorim is doing a horrible job so far. Hopefully he can turn it around but there’s no point sugar-coating it. His job is to get the most out of the squad he’s got and he’s failing woefully at the moment.
They did all througout his first two seasons, mate. You have a short memory.

Yeah I think he's a talented coach too, but this sort of managerial signing defeats the entire point of a structure. The structure is meant to pair a manager with the right squad.

We just went for the biggest/most promising name on the market again. If we really wanted him, why didn't we get him this summer gone? Or waited until the next summer, and just had an interim for the season. Or guess, hired a permanent manager of a higher caliber suitable for the squad with the intention of sacking and replacing him with Amorin in the summer.

You are making all the right points and asking all the right questions. A year into INEOS' era how is this any different than Woodward and co just going for the biggest name on the block? What has actually changed?

If Liverpool stuff us like Christmas Turkey it will show the Emperor has no f'n clothes. Then maybe instead of telling the likes of James Ducker how clever they are, our football board will actually start thinking about how to run this club coherently.

He should be criticised for his selection today. Playing Martinez, De Ligt, Maguire, Maz, Casemiro, Zirkzee and Eriksen all in one team is borderline criminal. They all too slow. Put Maz as CB and Amad as wingback for starters.

Looks like hes lost the players already.

I think that happened as soon as he acknowledged that we'd suffer and things would take time, while the club was meanwhile briefing almost all of them were available for transfer. The player are more used to managers coming in and saying they're an outstanding group of players etc.

The more players we can shift out (whether on loan for a shop window or permanently) of that shite bunch in January, the better. He'll have to bring in loans and/or promote youth. We'll likely be out of the FA Cup, and have more time on the training pitch.

Hopefully the club is doing all it can to get Eriksen, Casemiro and Rashford out the door in January, Zirkzee out on loan, Antony maybe as well. We get a midfielder in on loan, who can actually run, and promote a few youths (Gore for example).

He needs all the help he can get from Berrada and co.

It's not really excuses. Amorim started off by saying there would be bumps in the road. He knew the squad was terrible and would've expected this. Most of us expected this coming into the season.

That doesn't excuse our boards terrible planning. They could have got him months earlier and given him a pre season and some players that would fit him system instead of dropping him in the deep end.
I can understand bumps in the road if we are looking at a style which we can will succeed in the end. However we have been appalling and are toothless going forward. A manager needs to be flexible when things aren’t working.

Don't like Amad in this role at all, seems to lose the things he's good at. Needs to go back to wing back if we insist on playing that.
Get Rashy on - give him a no lose platform.

No, no, it’s Ten Hag, and it’s still Ten Hag. You think losing 4-0 most weeks was positive for the players? Things would just change when someone else came in to manage a squad completely destroyed?

As a club we lost any form of professional pride the day Liverpool came to Old Trafford thrashed us 5-0, their fans chanting "Ole's at the wheel" rang around our own home ground and then he still stayed in the job for another month.

We’ve been horrendous at creating chances all season. This isn’t on Amorim
Bruno is the only player that can do it. Him being one of the best in the world at it without any help at all has papered over the cracks for a good while, under ETH too. Without him we are totally hopeless. We need to add creativity if we are able to add any players in Jan.

Definitely the players have responsibility in that performance but Amorim has been tactically outclassed in that first half. Newcastel have positioned themselves perfectly.

And folks on here were talking about wanting Sebastian Hoeneß... Amorim proves the United gig is a poisoned chalice for young promising gaffers wanting to make a step up to the big leagues, he will face the same struggle as ETH but have ¼ the budget. Money aside I'm sure he'd rather be back in sunny Lisbon managing Sporting in the CL than trying to put out fires he did not start.

Frankly Utd were better off looking for a Ferguson-type tough experienced disciplinarian who runs a tight ship defensively than someone who wants to implement any fancy attacking ethos in the middle of a difficult season. ETH probably would have done better with the current squad and he's probably laughing somewhere.

ETH had so much stubborn support from the fans, I m surprised how quick every fans seems to be against Amorin.

Very naive to say he wants to keep it solid by starting the defenders as WB’s but then play two OAPs in central midfield against 3 of the most skilled energetic midfielders in the league. As soon as he brings Mainoo on we instantly look more solid but the games over already.

Absolutely agree with this.

He’s having an absolute mare.

Said it last week, Ruud knew exactly what to do and kept it simple as feck. This guy is already throwing players under the bus and is starting a keeper and 5 defenders every week.
On paper tonight we look absolutely shite, on paper under Ruud I could see something of a team.
No surprise really which one did better.

I don't think he's got a clue on how to fix this :(

I believe he has found success using a set system in Portugal and now has to contend with the level up of the premier league, the scrutiny of the job and that he has about 3 players at his disposal who can run or pass a football. I’d agree unfortunately

He literally said this will happen.
Predicting losses doesn't absolve him of blame does it? Funny how years later after rangnick people are still saying he was right and we needed open heart surgery blah blah. Anyone can go into any coaching job and say that. Saying that doesn't make you less shit of a coach.

Putting Casemiro, Eriksen and Zikrzee as your central 3 against a team with a pulse is a decision.
